Common Questions and Answers about Pravachol is produced by

pravachol

Avatar n tn There are all kinds of statins out there, as ed said, you have to find out which one you tolerate. I have been on them for many years as I was unable to lower my LDL with diet and exercise alone. They have worked well and I have had no side effects, but everyone is different. Most of these can be replaced by the generic Simvastatin. It's cheap and is the basis of many of the meds out there.
Avatar n tn does muscle problems from taking the generic pravachol include a burning feeling in the knees which causes pain when walking or bending knees?
Avatar n tn the heart rate is eratic and between 43 to 56 should I seak medical advice?
Avatar n tn Now, my understanding was that all T3 (bound and unbound) is produced from Free T4. Well, you can see that my Free T4 is 1.41 ng/dL, and that my Total T3 (bound and unbound) is 106 ng/dL. Obviously, the amount of Total T3 is far greater than the amount of Free T4. So, is all T3 (bound and unbound) produced from Free T4? Or is there another source of T3? Thank you for any info.
Avatar f tn Certainly they do NOT all need treatment unless treatment is prophylactic or is proven strep A by test or culture, or is otherwise indicated for, for example, a compromised immune system. Thus it is incorrect to call any sore throat with or without pus, "strep throat." "Strep throat" has become essentially a garbage, untrue terminology for most sore throats. The ignorance of what "strep throat" is, especially by young mothers, appalling.
Avatar n tn My blood preasure has been high since before I found out I was a diabetic. He also has me on pravachol. My cholestrol was high before I was told I was a diabetic. It has read the same since I have been on this drug. Would it be wiser to change either of the drugs or to add plavix? I have been on pravachol for at least 6 years and diabetic only two. Another area I have noticed in your forum, is the effect of caffine on blood sugars.
Avatar n tn Is atorvastatin or pravastatin better at monitoring cholestoral? My doctor prescribed the generic pravastatin as a more afordable alternative to atorvastatin but also doubled the amount I take (from 20 mg of atorvastatin to 40 mg of pravastatin). Should I be concerned about the effectiveness of pravastatin?
Avatar m tn No other symptoms what so ever. Find it hard to loose weight even I try, take toprol and pravachol, was on Z-pack for strep throat when CT was done. Someone?
Avatar f tn My psychiatrist has me on Lamictal, Effexor, Neurontin, Wellbutrin, and Nuvigil. From my PCP I take Pravachol and Lisinopril. Is it safe to take all these together? All answers are appreciated.
Avatar n tn I take prevacid for heartburn and pravachol for high cholesterol; also using mupirocin ointment since I had sinus surgery in September.
Avatar m tn There will be those that will tell you that studies such as the Jupiter Study were conducted or financed by big pharma companies, but that is not always the case nor does it place any doubt on the outcome. For me, I go with my experience with statins which have been very effective for me overall. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn But I would like to try a Non Statin is there is one on the market, or would there be supplements that are available and have good results? Mainly I would like names of non statins to research and discuss.
Avatar n tn Hi...I am on numerous meds...heart(tachycardia arrythmia)-ATENOLOL; High Cholesterol-CRESTOR; Hernia-PRAVACHOL; Fibromyalgia & Osteo-Arthrytis-KETOROLAC; water retention-LASIX; Sinus-FLONASE; Dysrythmia-ATIVAN. I have also been on EFFEXOR for 5 years for severe depression. My dosage has been increased twice in the past month--I now take 187.5 mg...I woke up at about 12 midnight last Sunday and I have no recall of the past 4 days; however, I apparently withdrew $7000.
Avatar n tn The level of creatine phosphokinase enzyme should be checked. If this is raised then there is muscle injury and the drugs should b stopped. If CPK is normal, then the dose and exercise adjustment should help. Fat-soluble statins like Lipitor and Zocor cause more damage than water soluble statins like Pravachol and Crestor. Hence the latter should be tried at lower dose.
Avatar n tn however, I have high blood pressure (norvasc), osteopena (sp) and high cholesteral (pravachol). I really don't want to take fossamax or any more drugs than necessary, but also do not want a recurrence of breast cancer. Is there a clinical study and shows femara vs placebo rather than femara vs tamoifen (novartis trial)? What is the general recommendation? Can you stop femara if side effects become a quality of life issue? Thank you.
Avatar m tn What was/is the size of the aorta and left ventricle? Nevertheless, it wouldn't be a cause for a decline in mental facility. The low heart rate is somewhat unusual unless you are in very good physical condition. It is possible and the worst case scenario is that you may have experienced TIA's (transient and tiny blood clot to the brain) or a minor stroke.
Avatar n tn Londres is certainly correct that there are a few other options available to treat what could be assumed to be familial hypercholesterolaemia, even though your doctor has obviously tried those that would be most obvious. Generally, if you experience muscle weakness as a side effect of Lipitor (atorvastatin), other statins will produce similar effects, so that eliminates the use of Zocor (simvastatin), Crestor (rosuvastatin) etc.
Avatar n tn Most of the time our TH-1 system will successfully destroy invaders, before antibodies are ever produced. If the invader is not destroyed by the TH-1 system immediately, the TH-2 antibody system gets involved and produces antibodies. These antibodies are like attaching strobe lights to the foreign invaders. It makes it extremely easy for the TH-1 cells to find and kill the foreign invaders. .
Avatar f tn Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a hormone that is produced by the placenta of a pregnant woman. It is detectable in the blood and urine within 10 days of fertilization and hence forms the basis of all pregnancy tests. Because human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is produced by the placenta, the presence of HCG in a woman’s blood indicates that she is most probably pregnant.
Avatar m tn I do have in my family some cases of high cholesterol, all temporary and diagnosed as stress related cases. Her daily diet did not changed, she eats well (meat without fat, vegetables, fruits) as I said, she is very active(she plays all day). The only difference about her is that she has swollen eyes when she wakes up or after crying(more then normal). Doctors said that is not a symptom and that she is in good health. The same doctors were wrong before so...
Avatar n tn My understanding is that the statins with the greatest LDL reducing effect are Crestor, Lipitor, Zocor, and Pravachol, in that order. I don’t mention Leschol and Mevacor since they appear to be rarely used since recently due to the aforementioned being more powerful. Do we have any available solid data on the effects of the various individual statins other than LDL reduction? For example, do we know which ones raise HDL the most? What about effects on particle size or Lp(a), etc.
Avatar f tn Yes its very possible.. home pregnancy test pick up HCG levels produced when embroy plants itself in the wall.. usually it takes about 10-12 days.. but as you can never be sure when you ovulated and when conception took place its very possible you might not have enough hormones to pick up by urine test.. some women actually get positive tests after 6-7 weeks of there pregnancy... Best of luck...
Avatar n tn I use Rovastatin 10 mg daily for more than 3 years. How long can we take this drug? Is it safe to use long-term?
Avatar f tn I haven't produced any colostrum or had leaking through this pregnancy. 39 wks and 2 days now. Is this normal? I'm just worried I won't produce breast milk at all as it happened to my sister.
