456906 tn?1208569831 Too much potassium can be bad for anybody...they actually use potassium chloride in HIGH concentration for lethal injection. They use the same thing in IV's in low doses to keep people hydrated in the hospital. Too much of anything can be bad. I think it would be VERY difficult to bring yourself to the point where you had too much potassium.
1310633 tn?1430224091 Florida will execute Henry with the drug midazolam, in combination with a paralyzing drug and potassium chloride. Midazolam is new for this purpose; it produces sedation, amnesia, and, in medically prescribed dosages, it lacks the ability to kill. Florida will make deadly what is naturally not by using a dosage much larger than ever given by a physician. Scientifically, this reasoning is flawed as the drug works like a key in a lock.

Avatar m tn The only thing that counts is the amount of actual (elemental) potassium you are ingesting. For instance we take 595mg tablets of potassium gluconate containing 99mg of elemental potassium. This means that if I am willing to take 20 of these cheap little pills a day to get my 2000mg (2g) of potassium that is just fine. I don’t need to buy relatively expensive potassium chloride. Is this true?
1118724 tn?1357010591 Hi there - I have the same question about the salt substitute becase I read that it needs to be approved by your dr before you use it. I have cirrhosis and have had to really watchh my salt. I'm going to do that on Feb 1st. I had ascites and I have trouble keeping the fluid down in my legs from the calf down and I know there is still some fluid in the abdomen but I don't look pregnant anymore. Back to the salt substitute.
617141 tn?1225706428 Transfer was postponed till I get better. Doctor gave me Lasix 40 mg to be taken once and Neo-K (potassium chloride) 500 mg twice daily for 5 days for now. My concern is that I ate two potatoes, one banana, a cup of yogurt, and tomato, all potassium sources today.
Avatar f tn No it is not safe to inject yourself. You could inject an air bubble and that could be lethal. Never do this! As for your vomiting for a week, it sounds like you may have food poisoning or some other problem. You may be seriously dehydrated and losing potassium. You need to get to an emergency room. Try to have someone drive you or take a taxi.

If you take the time to read the ingredients on ANY Ms. Dash flavors, you'll find nothing but herbs and spices, there's absolutely NO potassium chloride in it. Avatar n tn I've been told I should increase my electrolyte intake. I've done so but am still having problems. I'm wondering if it's because of the type of electrolytes I've been using, mainly potassium citrate and magnesium citrate. I'm mainly interested in the best electrolytes for neural and brain health and was wondering if someone could suggest me some. I'm kind of interested in magnesium chloride.
Avatar n tn she also got blood work done for signs of fatigue (showed up months before this incident) and her chloride and potassium levels were well above healthy. could this contribute to her period being late? please let me know, thanks.

Avatar f tn Can you tell me if the indication of change in a womens chloride level during her most fertile time of the month is directly related to the LH surge taking place? Or can you have changes in chloride levels and no LH surge? thanks!

415867 tn?1323365503 The doc said that he suspected blood clots and that he was going to give me an injection of Lovenox and anticoagulant and have me go to the vasuclar lab this morning for a work up. the leg pain is horrible its so hard to walk and with being an OR nurse it's impossible to work. so i went today to get the vascular study done and it came back normal...i was thankful but fustrated b/c i don't know what's causing it.
Avatar f tn You could use it everyday all over your body. Magnesium helps restless leg syndrome and leg cramps. I use it for cramps. My sis in law uses it for pain in the groin area. It helps. when you spray it on, it goes thru the skin to your blood to the cells where its needed .. 94% of the population accdg. to studies is low on Magnesium, this is one way to get your supplementation. There is no overdose on Mg spray, your body will only absorb what it needs.
6573002 tn?1383657837 m going to when sitting for more than 1 hr or standing for more than 5 min. She put me on sodium chloride pills 2/Day and told me to see the autonomic specialist who dxed with me dysautonomia in 2007. But does dysautonomia come on and then disappear and then reappear years later...I doubt it. I keep thinking its my cortisol levels going totally out of wack because of my increased stress at work and now I can't work at all. My heart rate and blood pressure are not okay for me to be at work..
Avatar f tn different kinds of potassium)on amazon. It is a powder formula, love it because I can’t swallow pills. (FYI: different kinds of potassium when you look to order) I ordered an 8oz bag in January 2020 for around $12.00 & has last me all year. I hope this may help someone!
Avatar f tn In physiology, the primary ions of electrolytes are sodium (Na+), potassium (K+), calcium (Ca2+), magnesium (Mg2+), chloride (Cl−), hydrogen phosphate (HPO42−), and hydrogen carbonate (HCO3−). The electric charge symbols of plus (+) and minus (−) indicate that the substance in question is ionic in nature and has an imbalanced distribution of electrons, the result of chemical dissociation".
Avatar n tn It needs to be applied and stay on the skin for approx. 20-30 minutes prior to injection though. This was the only drawback that we experienced with this prescription. I introduced the EMLA with the understanding that once my daughter became more comfortable with the new site, we would not need the EMLA anymore. You don't want to create a crutch for something that is a "niceity", not a "necessity".

Avatar m tn I can't find the source of my information but I remember reading that metoprolol is potassium sparing drug - meaning it doesn't cause potassium levels to drop. I don't believe that consuming fruit with a high K diet alone would raise K values to the point of side effects. At the moment I am more interested in the magnesium deficiency/arrhythmia information that I have read about. There seems to be something to that side of the electrolyte balance.
