Avatar n tn what is the difference between Potassium Chloride, Potassium Nitrate and Potassium Citrate?
Avatar m tn The only thing that counts is the amount of actual (elemental) potassium you are ingesting. For instance we take 595mg tablets of potassium gluconate containing 99mg of elemental potassium. This means that if I am willing to take 20 of these cheap little pills a day to get my 2000mg (2g) of potassium that is just fine. I don’t need to buy relatively expensive potassium chloride. Is this true?
1118724 tn?1357010591 Hi there - I have the same question about the salt substitute becase I read that it needs to be approved by your dr before you use it. I have cirrhosis and have had to really watchh my salt. I'm going to do that on Feb 1st. I had ascites and I have trouble keeping the fluid down in my legs from the calf down and I know there is still some fluid in the abdomen but I don't look pregnant anymore. Back to the salt substitute.
1903798 tn?1333905288 I already have connective tissue spasticity issues and now am getting charlie horses. I woke up with one in my calf a few days ago that was so tight I broke out into a sweat. Last night I had one in my behind muscle and today my thigh. Can this be the chiari too?
617141 tn?1225706428 Transfer was postponed till I get better. Doctor gave me Lasix 40 mg to be taken once and Neo-K (potassium chloride) 500 mg twice daily for 5 days for now. My concern is that I ate two potatoes, one banana, a cup of yogurt, and tomato, all potassium sources today.
Avatar f tn At night when I stretch or randomly I will get the worst leg cramps where I cry and it won't go away for like 15 seconds. Any one else have this problem, any splutions? I try to rub my leg better, but sometimes it doesn't work. Last pregnancy it happened as well, and I tried walking but that didn't go so well either.
Avatar n tn Doesn't matter if you're taking your prenatals and drinking juice, you can still get them if you're low on potassium and such. Try eating foods with more potassium and drinking more water.

If you take the time to read the ingredients on ANY Ms. Dash flavors, you'll find nothing but herbs and spices, there's absolutely NO potassium chloride in it. Avatar n tn I've been told I should increase my electrolyte intake. I've done so but am still having problems. I'm wondering if it's because of the type of electrolytes I've been using, mainly potassium citrate and magnesium citrate. I'm mainly interested in the best electrolytes for neural and brain health and was wondering if someone could suggest me some. I'm kind of interested in magnesium chloride.

456906 tn?1208569831 Too much potassium can be bad for anybody...they actually use potassium chloride in HIGH concentration for lethal injection. They use the same thing in IV's in low doses to keep people hydrated in the hospital. Too much of anything can be bad. I think it would be VERY difficult to bring yourself to the point where you had too much potassium.
Avatar f tn It's a sign of potassium deficiency. Take extra potassium or each foods high in potassium, like bananas, sweet potatoes, tomato sauces, etc. You can google a complete list.
Avatar f tn Get Ur potassium checked...I had real bad charlie horses in my legs and then found out my potassium was almost critically low...you might have to take a potassium supplement...bananas help too!

Avatar f tn I'm 34weeks 0days today and for some strange reason I keep waking up with very painful Charlie horses! Anyone knows why? It slips my mind every time I go to the doctor and I forget to ask her. Thanks.
Avatar f tn Stay hydrated, eat bananas(the potassium in them will help) drink milk and move around often. I noticed when I skip my evening walk, I get those leg cramps. I'm sure a massage on your legs wouldn't hurt either!
