Avatar n tn Colloidal silver with concentrations of 30 parts per million (ppm) or less are typically manufactured using an electrolyte process, whereas colloidal silver with higher concentrations of 50 ppm or more are usually either silver compounds such as silver chloride and silver iodide or are solutions that have been bound with a protein to disperse the particles. Silver nitrate is a soluble chemical compound with chemical formula AgNO3.
Avatar f tn The silver nitrate ruined a few pairs of outfits. It stains and you cannot get it out. This was a few years ago as my child is almost in kindergarten but I think the pediatrician said to clean with rubbing alcohol. Do not get it wet so don't use soap and water. You could give your little one an infection. When in doubt though call your pediatrician to be sure. It's stressful but once it's closed you'll feel so relieved.
Avatar m tn Yesterday I applied silver nitrate to some tiny bumps on the base of the shaft of my penis- my best guess as to what they are is either genital warts or hair follicles that were bigger than my liking so I decided to chemically burn them off with silver nitrate. I applied silver nitrate and put the sticky part of a bandaid over it and left it for 24 hrs, when removed the top layer skin shed and the bumps are still present though now smaller and raw.
Avatar f tn from toothpaste? I looked up the ingredients on Pro-Namel and one of the two active ones is potassium nitrate and the other is flouride. Apparently, potassium nitrate should not be inhaled, etc. as it could case ------ yep, coughing and breathing difficulties! What has the FDA said about this? Apparently they approved it, but the FDA's history has been checkered. I guess user beware needs to be the slogan of the day here.
Avatar m tn I'm 31 and finally had orgasms (cervical ones) after having kids a couple years ago. Not to brag, it was really simple to have them once I figured out exactly what to do shortly after my second kid - I'm assuming a physical change down there from labor exposed the right parts. I was having bleeding after sex and the Dr. fixed my "friable cervix" with silver nitrate a few months ago.
617141 tn?1225706428 Transfer was postponed till I get better. Doctor gave me Lasix 40 mg to be taken once and Neo-K (potassium chloride) 500 mg twice daily for 5 days for now. My concern is that I ate two potatoes, one banana, a cup of yogurt, and tomato, all potassium sources today.
Avatar m tn I did think that but iv never had a sinis infection
Avatar n tn I'm experiencing this same type of itching following a pelvic organ prolapse surgery. It seem to occur a couple of days after I was treated with "silver nitrate" during my 2 week post op visit for treatment of wound "granulation." Were you treated with "silver nitrate" following your surgery?
Avatar m tn My wife and I have a low potassium diet and need to supplement with 1.5g to 2.5g per day depending on how active we are and how much milk we drink for added protein. We are getting a lot of contradictory info about potassium supplementation products. We have been told by a PA and MD that that we are wasting our time taking OTC potassium gluconate because it is not being absorbed. Online comments often repeat the same message.
1116823 tn?1303072844 the usual reason skin will not re-approximate is granulation tissue between the edges. Silver nitrate gets rid of the granulation tissue and the edges grow together. Now. if there is no grainy, pink granulation tissue in the way, the wound needs to have the edges freshened (after numbing, using a scalpel) and the fresh edges brought together with stitchs.
1118724 tn?1357010591 But elevated as well as too low potassium can be bad for the heart and cause arrhythmia. Potassium chloride should not be taken with some blood pressure medications such as losartan, lisinopril, and some others. Are you on any medication? If yes, write them here and I will try to check for you if they are OK to take with potassium chloride.
Avatar f tn Im diagnosed with cervical erosion, i went for cervical repair by silver nitrate stick.
Avatar f tn I have been struggling with SLK for 4 years, have seen many eye doctors and have tried every eye drop known to man. Have my lower puncta's cauterized and have had silver nitrate brushed across the back of both eyes. Now am taking 1% cyclosporin, which burns like fire for about a minute. Question - has anyone had success in treating this miserable condition? I am so discouraged as feel the photophobia and gritty feeling in my eyes is never going to go away.
Avatar m tn m wondering if you can or can not use something like Lo Salt that has potassium chloride in it along with beta blockers, and if so how much is recommended. I'm looking to substitute lo salt for some other high in potassium foods in order to cut down on my sugar content.
Avatar n tn Para-Phenylenediamine (PPD) is an ingredient found in most hair dyes and colors and it can cause severe dermatitis of skin and swelling of the face and mucus membranes. Treatment of this includes application of Burrow’s or silver nitrate solution, lukewarm water baths, oatmeal baths, topical and systemic steroids ,antihistaminics, emollients to moisturize skin and antibiotics in cases of secondary infection.
Avatar f tn Hi! Thanks for responding. I am using the OV watch and was just wondering if there is a "loop hole" in this technology. Meaning to say that just because the watch is reading the chloride activity and indicating so on the watch, could I assume I was ovulating as well. Guess I'm just tired of disappointment. This is the first month I have used the watch and it has indicated Fertile Day one-four and OV Day 1 and so on. We've been going at it!
7569019 tn?1460135460 now down to 10) 4 days of major charlie horses Dr said stop taking Gemfibrozil.. and to help with the swelling I was put on lasix furosemide 20 mg and pot chloride 20 meg.. Avatar f tn Potassium is a chemical element and it is part of the electrolyte that should be in balance with other lytes to adequately conduct an electrical impulse that originates with the sinus node in the right atrium. The mechanism of action is not completely understood, but what is when a voltage (unit of potential for conduction) and electrolyte there will conduction and passage of electrical impluses.
Avatar f tn Sorry...I meant to add that yes, they use silver nitrate sticks to cauderize the tissue. They had to do this with some granulation tissue that developed around my nephrostomy incision..it didn't hurt, but stung for a little bit. Granulation tissue bleeds very easily and after the silver nitrate treatment, I've had no problems.
Avatar f tn I have also been getting a plantar wart treated on my foot for the past 14 months - monthly freezing, lasering and treatment with salycilic acid and/or silver nitrate. I did spill the silver nitrate (10% solution) on my bedside table one night and slept next to the spill all night - but this was almost 2 months ago. I was referred to Urgent Neuro Clinic from the ER, but they did not concur that it was an urgent neuro case.
Avatar f tn Vigorous therapy for dry eye, including Restasis and tear duct plugs and cautery with silver nitrate are very helpful. Find a cornea Eye MD near you at www.aao.org If all else fails surgical removal or cautery or conjunctival recession sometimes take care of the problem.
1618806 tn?1304734477 Salad binge?! I eat salads every day. LOL! But I'm highly concerned about the advice your dishing out about Ms. Dash. Ms. Dash IS NOT a salt substitute it is merely a salt replacement. There's a WORLD of difference between Ms. Dash and Morton Salt Substitute (for example) which is loaded with Potassium Chloride. If you take the time to read the ingredients on ANY Ms. Dash flavors, you'll find nothing but herbs and spices, there's absolutely NO potassium chloride in it.
Avatar f tn In three separate studies, researchers assigned healthy volunteers to either potassium nitrate (in doses ranging from 248 mg up to 1488 mg), potassium chloride, low-nitrate water, plain water, or 250 ml of beetroot juice (roughly 8.5 ounces of the dark purple punch). The researchers took blood samples and blood pressure readings at the start of the study, and at regular intervals for the following 24 hours.
