Avatar f tn How many of you ladies have/had postpartum depression and did you take medication for it or try and "ride-it-out"? What were your symptoms and how long did they last? Ive definitely been having bouts of depression and feelings of being overwhelmed - yesterday I was in Walmart and called hubby to ask about an item and he asked me to get something else and I suddenly felt overwhelmed and like I was going to cry! LOL.
Avatar f tn Please talk to someone. Google postpartum depression and the baby blues. You will see that this is not your real self and you can find a hot line to call tonight. I felt somewhat the same after my first and it helped me to read about others in blogs and forums.
Avatar f tn but that isnt all, before i got pregnant i was diagnosed with severe depression and was put on meds that helped alot, i stopped taking them during the pregnancy and my first four weeks postpartum (breastfeeding) i feel so guilty for stopping breastfeeding and im constantly worried about germs and im overly paranoid about falling asleep with the baby in my lap.
Avatar f tn Hi hun im going through something similar with the lack of help from hubby as he works and also home bound and constant worrying. I got twins they are 4weeks now. However in not letting it get the better of me. I did get it really bad with my son 4yrs ago after his birth and i can tell you the depression didnt last long as i kept myself busy. Avatar f tn Helps you milk supply come in early, can help to not cause ppd, shrinks your uterus fast, gives you all your nutrients back that you loose during breastfeeding, stops postpartum bleeding. I love it and will do it again with this baby.
Avatar f tn It helps to regulate your hormones and cam decrease the likelihood of postpartum depression. Breastfeeding is the best choice you can make for yourself and your baby.
Avatar f tn Yes ma'am. I actually suffer from depression, medicated & weekly therapy sessions. But stopped all treatment at the beginning of the year, then found out I was expecting 2months later. Many days I am down in the dumps & I really worry about postpartum depression because I plan to breastfeed & am terrified about not being able to because I would have to go back on meds.
Avatar f tn I'm 8 weeks postpartum with some depression/ anxiety but it happens. It's hard being a new mom again especially with a 2yr old and being a full time nurse.
Avatar f tn Are you loving having your baby in your arms? I can imagine that you feel empty because you literally have a huge part of you not inside of you anymore. It sounds normal, but if you're concerned at all, please contact your doctor. Postpartum depression isn't something to play around with.
Avatar n tn Is it possible to have postpartum depression before the baby is even here? I feel like I'm losing my mind.
Avatar f tn First, I have copied the following from American Thyroid Association info on postpartum thyroiditis. "What is the Clinical Course of Postpartum Thyroiditis? The classic description of postpartum thyroiditis includes thyrotoxicosis followed by hypothyroidism. Not all women demonstrate evidence of going through both phases; approximately 1/3 of patients will manifest both phases, while 1/3 of patients will have only a thyrotoxic or hypothyroid phase.
Avatar f tn Talked to the moms about positioning and latch, talked to the dads about ways to be supportive and what to watch out for in a new mom (postpartum depression, mastitis, etc), talked to both about how to tell when things are going well and how to fix it if they aren't. Talked about yeast and inverted nipples and low supply and oversupply. Had an experienced mom come in with her baby to demonstrate a good latch. All kinds of good stuff.
470885 tn?1326329037 I've posted this on both the contraception and breastfeeding boards - and received no responses so far. Does anyone know if I should be expecting a period while taking Micronor (mini BCP) and exclusively BFing? I'm 10.5 weeks postpartum and have been taking the pill since my 6 week check up. I'm into my second pack of pills and still haven't had any sort of period. My postpartum bleeding ended at 7.5 weeks postpartum.
Avatar f tn A lot of times insurance will cover it for postpartum depression... he may still want to prescribe something but that stuff only really works in conjunction with therapy. With my last I got really depressed about 2 months later and it went on for way too long because I was embarrassed about it. I really learned a lot. Its way more common than you think and nothing to be ashamed over!
Avatar f tn i went two weeks later to my practitioner who diagnosed me with severe postpartum depression. My husband works away and is only home about 1 week a month. He left the day after I got home from the hospital so i was alone with a 3 year old and a newborn. My mom said she would help me if i went to her house but she just was too tired to come and help. I'm essentially on my own.
Avatar f tn I'm four weeks post partum, and exclusively breastfeeding. I know that it usually takes a while before your start back up, esp when breastfeeding. But I noticed this mornin that it was pink on the toilet paper, and I think its startin to maybe get somewhat heavier. Is this normal? Hasn't happened before with my previous. Also, I took Plan B about 3 days ago, could that be a reason? Does anyone know? Thanks.
Avatar f tn ve been having sex with my husband since 2 weeks postpartum and everything healed good at my 6 week postpartum check up.
8264857 tn?1402099133 I've been dealing with the same thing and I'm 33 weeks pregnant. You are doing the right thing by getting help. You don't want it to get out of hand cause it can lead to postpartum depression after the baby is born. It is hard to cut people off who don't agree with you or they are always negative or whatever the case is. You have to do what you have to so that you and your baby will be happy. If that means telling family and friends not to speak to you, then so be it.
Avatar f tn t started my depression meds yet because I am trying to breast feed. Should I skip the breastfeeding attempts and just take my meds?
1909563 tn?1321997966 Not a doctor, but possible to have postpartum depression. I would talk to your OB or GYN.
Avatar f tn You need to go see your doctor. Postpartum depression is not something you want to delay treatment in. There isn't enough vitamin D, exercise, alone time, etc. that is going to treat postpartum depression. Please go see a doctor. As an RN, I can assure you that many women feel this way and we're here to help you feel better so you can take care of yourself and your baby. Medication is what will help you, I promise.
Avatar f tn doesnt sound like postpartum depression just depression, not that thats any better really but do speak to your doctor or a counsellor and get some help, its an awful thing if it gets out of hand..
