Common Questions and Answers about Post hernia surgery exercise

hernia-surgery

Avatar f tn Sometimes they are so damaged/separated that no amount of exercise will help. That's when you might want to consider surgery to repair them.
Avatar n tn Two years after double hernia surgery, I am experiencing a burning pain similar to the pain I had prior to surgery, although more mild and intermittent. I have cut down on sit ups and other exercising, hoping that is the problem, although it hasn't helped(yet). Any suggestions?
440989 tn?1281001534 It is 4 weeks post laproscopic hiatal hernia repair. I am slowly healing. I am noticing my breathing has become more labored then pre surgery. First thing in the morning I am finding myself short of breathe immediately after standing up. Also, I have a second floor study and find myself breathing heavy after climbing the stairs. I have begun walking and doing breathing exercises which seems to improve the process. Is there anything else I can do?
6894081 tn?1390747763 I know! Horses are an addiction haha! Oh that's cool! They do eat a great deal of my money haha, so you're wise to wAit. I know in definitely not gonna go against my doctors orders. My friend had so many problems with her scar after so I'm super careful cos I know how much of a hard time she had!
Avatar f tn I had a Lap done one week ago. One incision at the belly button, one to the lower left. Doctor removed two small areas of endometrial tissue. Doctor's been very unhelpful regarding exercise post surgery, says it'll take four weeks to recover fully and if I want a hernia before then that's my problem--that's almost a quote. I am a fit 38-year old who has to exercise regularly to maintain pain in my SI joint and femur patella syndrome in my knees.
Avatar n tn Hi Doctor Vinod. Thank you for receiving this communication. I have more than one question if I may... My name is Paul. I am 47 years old and had cancer removed which were hanging on the bottom of my left kidney last year (ten months ago). I developed a large incisional abdominal hernia within 8 weeks post surgery. I am now going to have it repaired laporoscopically with mesh.
Avatar n tn The surgery is a minor surgery and will help the hernia to not get worse. This type of surgery is common and is not a big deal. However, surgery in general can cause scarring and has the potential to cause other problems. So, you can leave the hernia. Perhaps it will get worse or perhaps it will stay the same. Hernias in adults rarely close. Or you can get surgery, it is an outpatient surgery and common. But surgery is surgery and can have deletrious side affects.
Avatar f tn Hi, 6 years ago i had my 2nd child and developed an umbilical hernia, which i had surgery for the repair. I now have had a 3rd baby - 5 months now- and have the umbilical hernia has returned.
625302 tn?1255485995 Now I face another surgery with this hernia. is this normal or common? What obligations or responsibility should my surgeon have? This discussion is related to Had hernia repair after tummy tuck and doesn't look right..
2042217 tn?1336527852 You may leave the same day but if the hernia was large you may be asked to stay in hospital for aday. After surgery your vital parameters will be monitored and depending on the parameters you will be discharged. Once back home avoid lifting or strenuous exercise for at least the first two weeks, light exercise like walking can be done. The recovery time varies person to person and depends on your general health condition and extent of hernia.
Avatar n tn Over the past 5 months the pain comes and goes (it never really goes because there is always a tingling, burning sensation over that spot if you touch it) but it seems to be worse when I exercise too much or am more active. Now I seem to feel a very localized lump right in the area that it hurts when I push on it but to me it doesn't seem to get more noticeable when I cough or strain although I do notice it more when I stand.
Avatar m tn what type of hernia exercise (if you have) can i do that can help me developed back the muscles that causes my abdominal hernia? Can it help me avoid surgery? Thank you.
Avatar n tn I think you can continue with other exercise and try to do some tolerable exercise of stomach. You can take help of physiotherapist and physical trainer for further strengthening of your muscles. Keep me informed if you have any queries. Bye.
5829074 tn?1375034908 One other - possibly unrelated to this pain - is that I have an inguinal hernia. Apparently this happened 6 months prior to the surgery and went undiagnosed, as I thought it (the bulge) was just related to my suprapubic catheter. I never had scrotal/testicle pain until after the surgery though. I'd be grateful for any thoughts on this. Thanks!
1199621 tn?1265359349 Have the hernia repaired and then exercise. My husband had a hernia and went regularly to the gym with the thought of reducing it. I had a fit and told him he would make the hernia worse. It did, and he was hospitalized for a major repair. I don't know if it works the same with an umbilical hernia, but common sense tells me that you should first consult a doctor.
Avatar m tn No improvement of pain in area. Doctor said to see hernia specialist, answer no hernia. To make a long story short, after many different doctor and therapyst visits and MRI's.Cat Scans and blood tests I was told to see hernia specialist again (different one) answer no again. I am in severe pain and unable to walk more than 15 minutes before burning pain starts. I am desperate for an answer.
Avatar f tn I had lap surgery on April11th. Had staples removed last week. I still have pain and swelling the size of a golfball on navel and below it. When I lie down,it goes down. No fever or redness present. Any ideas or anyone else have that too with this surgery? Thank you.
Avatar m tn hellow iam nikil i had hernia surgery one year ago .can you tell me what excercises should not be done...
Avatar f tn ), but since I fear my hernias may have been caused by going back to intense exercise too quickly after the colon removal surgery (I waited about 5-6 months, but that may not have been long enough) I will do it! Thanks again for your detailed response.
Avatar f tn I now have a 5.1 cm hiatal hernia, and my GERD is just as severe as prior to my surgery. I have been on 60 mgs of Nexium in the morning and 40 mgs of Zantac in the evening for three years. My Physician's Assistant has chosen to use 40 mgs of Priolosec for the hernia.
Avatar f tn Has anyone gone through an incisional hernia from a laparotomy? If a small one forms, does it progress fairly rapidly to a full-blown one with a noticeable bulge produced? Or can small, visibly undetectable ones maybe go away on their own? Before my surgery to remove my two ovarian cysts, my doc said that with my "bikini cut" (horizontal) incision, it reduces the chances of an incisional hernia greatly, compared to an up-and-down vertical incision.
Avatar n tn Thats terrible, I am so sorry you are going through this difficult time...have they done an MRI or colonoscopy?? Why did they have to call a 2nd surgeon in? Almost sounds like they have done damage to the colon? I really hope you get answers soon, no one should have to suffer like this.
