Avatar n tn They access your pineal region from beneath the brain, so they do not affect your brain at all. It sounds like a scary procedure but is actually straightforward for a good brain neurosurgeon. The surgeon essentially inserts a microscopic endoscope that magnifies the area by 50x and uses a navigation system to get him there. It is minimally invasive. The medical literature says that most patients whose pineal cysts are not too large (e.g., < 4.
Avatar n tn Another cause is global hypoperfusion of the brain, for example a sudden drop in blood pressure that leads to less blood flow to the brain. To be continued in separate section due to word-count limitations imposed by the website.

551343 tn?1506830518 Paolo Zamboni took 65 patients with relapsing-remitting MS, performed a simple operation to unblock restricted bloodflow out of the brain - and two years after the surgery, 73% of the patients had no symptoms. Dr. Zamboni's thinking could turn the current understanding of MS on its head, and offer many sufferers a complete cure. Multiple sclerosis, or MS, has long been regarded as a life sentence of debilitating nerve degeneration.
Avatar m tn Since I was so symptomatic I had an epidural blood patch which gave good relief for 36 hours but then I slowly got the symptoms back. The neurosurgeons and neurologists are reassuring me that these symptoms will slowly dissipate; I'm pessimistic. Here's my questions: 1. Anyone else had a dural leak managed conservatively? 2. How long did it take to feel better? 3. Would anyone try a 2nd epidural blood patch?
Avatar f tn My bf is four months post tx and the brain fog and energy level are bad! We are trying to take this one day at a time can you tell me and I know it varies how long did it take to feel yourself again????
Avatar n tn What I meant by routine treatments is for your head repair. Docs will sometimes find something amiss, which happened to you, and so it has to be a regular course of things to fix it. I can surely understand your hesitance in returning to the original surgeon. Therefore, your regular family doc can make a referral for you to a new neurosurgeon.
550434 tn?1217248222 Im a bit scared knowing the results because if the histo showed growth of follicular cell most likely ill be back on operation room and i really hate it, the operation is fine but i really hate the pain relievers and the antibiotics it really made me cry. Just a quick question though what are hypo symptoms ur experiencing? I was supposed to visit my surgeon a few days back but im a bit busy. Actually im experiencing nausea and feeling of vomitting. Do you think its connected?
Avatar m tn So in 4 februar of 2008 year I passed one head-neuro operation in the IRAN. The opearation lasted approx. 30 minute. But after operation I felt my self very perfect. So after 10 monthes thats now (december) Im again disturbed by the same headache. I have to note that during the surgeon operation there was put one apparatus to suck the pile of water from the left hemisphere side over the brain (left side).

Avatar f tn Hi I was diagnosed with a brain cyst by my GP, she said that I probably had it since birth. She didn't really do much explaining except that it wasn't anything serious and wasn't the cause of my daily headaches. She had an MRI done on me which came out fine. I was just wondering, I have been getting my headaches back again quite often, and I was wondering if these cysts can grow?
Avatar m tn Hi, My close relative (uncle - 63 yrs old) had recently undergone collar-bone plate-removal operation, during which time, something happened because of which the supply of oxygen to brain stopped all of a sudden and he became unresponsive and has been in unconscious state since then (more than 3 weeks now). He was in ventilator for 12 days and has been in ICU since then. Rest of the body is functioning in a normal manner.
Avatar m tn I understand that this cognitive function deterioration is due to the cyst in the parietal region of the brain. Consult your neurosurgeon for analysis of both the cysts including the one in the parietal region and the cerebellum. Depending on the large size and other pressure symptoms like headaches, nausea, blurred vision reflecting increased intracranial pressure, these would require a craniotomy and excision. Hope this helps. Take care.
Avatar f tn I have also developed a habbit of blocking my ears with my hands to avoid noise in my industrial neighborhood by applying pressure on my earleads. What could be the ptoblem.
Avatar n tn I also have a question re. post-craniotomy pain. I had a lemon sized benign brain tumor removed from my right temporal lobe a little over two years ago, and about a month ago, the right side of my skull started aching pretty bad. I haven't bumped my head or experienced any trauma or anything. The timing seems rather unusual given how long it's been since the surgery. Thoughts or comments would be much appreciated.
Avatar m tn The neurologist told me that it’s probably chemical imbalances of the brain due to the last operation. He prescribed Akamon 1.5 for 3 weeks. At the first week I was fine, on the second week I was feeling again, anxiety and went to see him. That time he prescribed Anafranil 25mg and see a CBT. But I saw that anafranil is an anti-depressant pill so I didn’t take it. I continue to taking Akamon 1.5 until I finished the 3 weeks period he prescribed.
Avatar n tn In bright light you might want to try sunglasses or some type of transition lenses that may lessen the shimmering effect. As for the "ring of fire" you're just going to have to learn to deal w/it. To be honest there probably isn't much that can be done to help your symptoms. Maybe in time your brain will learn to ignore your symptoms. Just like floaters, if you don't fixate on them they won't be quite so bothersome.
Avatar n tn During the 2nd Operation it was found that there was a Infart in the brain which can be removed only wiith the help of a MRI scan. However she cannot take the scan due to her Pacemaker. Due to the Infart she keeps Vomitting whatever food she eats 10 to 15 minutes after eating it. We are in Chennai, India. None of the doctors here have been able to find a solution for this problem. She has had it for about 3 years now.
