Avatar f tn So now im on keflex, zithromax, albuterol, zofran, tums, cough drops, robitussin dm, and got a shot of rocefin in the arse. How does an ear infection turn into pneumonia? ??? I didn't even know that was possible! And my doc says taking all these meds is safe but that seems like an awful lot to me.
Avatar m tn Then recently I had a respiratory infection with small walking pneumonia and took zithromax but went on a golfing trip while on Zithromax ( i feeling fine expcept for mild cough and wheezing and no fever) Golfed for 5 days in a row. On the 4th day had some pain in the right elbow and forearm.
Avatar m tn After earlier courses of Amoxicillin, then Zithromax, upon determining Pneumonia I have been prescribed Levaquin, a much stronger antibiotic; But the Levaquin costs $ 264, which I can not afford. Is there a comparable antibiotic I can take that is more reasonably priced?
418165 tn?1295753981 21st, the childrens hospital diagnosed my 4 yr old daughter with left lower pneumonia. On the 23rd she had a x-ray to make sure. She went through a antibiotic shot(starts with a r, like Rotussin or something), and a oral antibiotic(zithromax) and was better for about 1week and a half. I noticed the other day her cough, (this is the only symptom shes had), had came back a little worse then it was before.

Avatar n tn I had strep and took a zpac during my first. Sounds like you caught it early...
Avatar m tn I was recently in the emergency department for a bad side effect (vomiting) I had to an antibiotic I was taking called Zithromax. It was for acute bronchitis. I was only there for six hours but I was taken to different areas of the hospital for ultrasound and CT. The bed I was in looked kinda dirty and I wiped my nose a few times without washing my hands before. It has been six days since being released.
Avatar n tn However, a week later he presented with a high fever, wheezing, rattling sound when breathing and they diagnosed bacterial pneumonia. They gave him albuterol nebulizer treatments and zithromax. The next day we were back at the doctor and he had been experiencing severe coughing fits that led to vomiting and sweating, as well as clammy skin, and he was continuing to have a lot of wheezing sound in his lungs, despite the albuterol treatments.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with walking pneumonia two weeks ago. I was given Z Pack. I took it. It seemed to work for a couple of days then the symptoms returned. Doctor gave me another Z Pack. Same thing. It worked for a couple of days and then the mychoplasma returned. Question 1: Why did Z pack not get rid of it? Question 2: I'm on Doxycycline now. Will that get rid of it? I'm terrified to even get out of bed for fear that I will relapse again. I want my life back. Please help.
Avatar n tn However the amount of pieces of lime green sticky mucus I have been coughing up has increased. My main concern is that I have pneumonia. I have been hospitalized for pneumonia three times and have received the vaccine. Because I have two implanted Neurostimulators, I have to be very careful amd try prevent any bacteria from spreading into my leads Are their some pictures of pneumonia mucus, so that I could compare know if I need to get additional help?
Avatar f tn So I am taking prednisone a steroid for 13 days, and zithromax a one time dosage today, and robitussin DM for cough and chest congestion. The doc actually acidentally popped my ear drum today too, it sucked. He was sticking the instrament(sp) that looks inside the ears, and the ear drum was sooooo swollen it popped. So I had blood and puss running out of my ear for a while, until he flushed it out, so im now completely but temporarily deaf in my right ear lol.
Avatar n tn i have never befor had an abnormal cbc. i just finished a course of zithromax for pneumonia/bronchitis and on noprosyn for knee swelling and pain. could any of these medications cause these abnormal lab results? incidentally, the naprosyn is not helping with the knee pain and the swelling is getting worse. my main concern however, is the abnormal cbc. can you provide me with some answers. thank you.
Avatar f tn It could be a sign of Bronchitis or pneumonia. I would go to the Urgent Care and see what they can do. Possibly a chest x-ray to find out if you have bronchitis or pneumonia. If they find something, they will put you on an antibiotic. Like me, I'm still trying to fight off my bronchitis, and they put me on Zithromax (Z-pack). But I would definitely go to the urgent care or see your PCP first.
Avatar f tn m not getting any better and the worse thing was it become pneumonia and the doctor put me on zithromax for 7 days but unfortunately the fever is still there and I was confined in the hospital twice and I undergo bronchoscopy and thoracoscopy and the diagnosis was nonspecific interstitial pneumonia but still I have a fever and night sweat at night.
Avatar n tn My 2 year old had pneumonia 3 months ago and made a full recovery after heavy duty antibiotics... a week ago he developed a cough that had him coughing about three times in a row every 4 or 5 hours. About 3 days ago he started coughing at night. He would wake up about midnight cough 3 or 4 times hard and repeat about every three hours. Last night he coughed about every 1 to 2 hours and coughed so hard he almost threw up several times.
Avatar n tn I just wanted to update this...spoke to my docs office this morning, they forgot to call but she had put a note in my chart about it. She said following pneumonia this is normal and can occur for several weeks after. As long as I am not having any worsening symptoms and am showing improvement, even if it is slow, that this is normal. If I have a fever or any change or worsening in symptoms I should go in to see her immediately. So I am relieved.
Avatar n tn Rule out pneumonia. Etiology probably bacterial. These problems show up in summer after sleeping under a fan or an air conditioner and are persistant, the problem flaring and subsiding. The nasty little buggies become encapsulated in biofilms and like to live happily every after. It's time to rain on their parade with an airstrike. The general drill is an antibiotic, specifically zithromax 500 mg a day times three days. They sell in in a three capsule pack.
Avatar m tn Update on condition - yesterday dr heard rumble in lower left lung, I was devastated to hear that as I am such a worrier. She took blood and sputum sample and as I had doxycycline previously for original pneumonia she has given me a 3 day course of Zithromax to try and clear this infection by 'nipping it in the bud'. I am still getting chest pain which is central and have a wheeze in centre of chest which she says is inflammation of airways.
Avatar f tn In certain situations your physician may decide that antibiotic therapy is appropriate. When an antibiotic is deemed necessary, Zithromax (azithromycin) is commonly used. Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that is effective against M pneumonia. But, if the sinusitis is caused by a fungus or virus azithromycin will not help. In some cases, sinusitis can last for several weeks before it resolves.
Avatar f tn along with a COPD exacerbation with sputum not clearing the usual way with Zithromax... The kicker..my roommate I believe had MRSA because of a variety of facts too numerous to go on with. She was 86 and admited the same day I was with an infection in her foot that was the consequence of a recent removal of melanoma on that foot (!?).
645800 tn?1466860955 As I posted yesterday my new PCP gave me an Rx for an anti-biotic. The rx was for Sulfamethoxazole / Trimethoprim 800/160. I always check out drugs on the internet before taking any. So this morning after going to Walgreens to check it out my first thought was "IS SHE TRYING TO KILL ME"? The list of side effect and signs of allergic reaction almost match my normal state of health issues.
Avatar m tn Nicolson, I am a 35-year old RN who has been suffering for the past 9 years. I was just recently diagnosed with mycoplasma pneumonia, and have been diagnosed with EBV and CMV in the past, and present. I also have HHV6. I used to go through phases of remission and relapses, but this last time, no remission for 9 months. I was an active, healthy woman whose life has been robbed by these bugs. I am currently on the mycoplamsa protocol in Orlando, with the only doctor who specializes in this.
Avatar n tn I DEVELOPED PNEUMONIA IN MARCH, ABOUT THE TIME THAT I SWITCHED FROM NATURE -THROID TO ARMOUR. CEPHALEXIN DIDN'T WORK, CIPRO WAS NEXT FOR THE USUAL COURSE. DIDN'T WORK SO ZITHROMAX WAS THE LAST AND WAS MORE EFFECTIVE. ABOUT THE SAME TIME MY ARRYTHMIAS( PVCS AND PACS) BECAME MORE PROMINENT AND AT TIMES MY HEART RATE WAS AS LOW AS 33. ( WITH LIGHTHEADEDNESS AND EXHAUSTION, MUCH LOUDER HEART SOUND EFFECTS ETC.
Avatar m tn chlamydia (both the STD and the lung infection, though they have nothing to do with each other) and mycoplasma pneumonia. I believe this type of antibiotics are named macrolid antibiotics (roughly translated from my language). Tetracyclin works against the mentioned infections and I don't think it causes prolonged QT. Your concern is real, but I would assume your doctor would have considered this. Anyway, ask him.
