pneumonia

1901977 tn?1333991726 I was trying to tough it out but my upper respiratory infection has moved down into my chest and with my asthma, the doctor is really worried about it turning into pneumonia and just put me on the "Z-Pack" (Azithromycin)antibiotics. I'm in my 12th week right now, and really worried about taking them. But the doctor says if my breathing goes bad or I get pneumonia that's much worse for the baby...so I just took my first dose tonight.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with walking pneumonia two weeks ago. I was given Z Pack. I took it. It seemed to work for a couple of days then the symptoms returned. Doctor gave me another Z Pack. Same thing. It worked for a couple of days and then the mychoplasma returned. Question 1: Why did Z pack not get rid of it? Question 2: I'm on Doxycycline now. Will that get rid of it? I'm terrified to even get out of bed for fear that I will relapse again. I want my life back. Please help.
Avatar f tn I took it pretty easy.. My Md gave me a Z pack.. saying it was viral and it would take 4-6 weeks or longer .. The original X-ray said.. I likely had Pneumonia bc of the right middle lobe opacity ..It also stated that I had a retrotracial opacity which was seen on the lateral view. My Dr said he spoke with a mother radiologist who said that I had that opacity a couple years ago and there has been no change in size .. etc. Anyway.. My energy is almost back .. but I if I run up the step..
1472764 tn?1287588186 I was just put on amoxicillin for a dental infection. Both amoxicillin and the medication in your z-pack (I'm assuming that is what you are taking?) are both Pregnancy Category B and considered safe during pregnancy. I even specifically asked my Pharmacist and she assured me it is safe. Much better to treat the infection before it gets out of hand and you have to use a stronger (and possibly less safe) medication to address it.
Avatar n tn 2 weeks ago today, I was prescribed a z-pack. I went to the ER with a 103 degree fever, sinus tachycardia, and coughing. All of my blood work came back normal but they prescribed me a z-pack in case I took a turn for the worse (they were suspecting delayed pneumonia). I didn't experience any side effects (other than weird dreams) the entire time that I was actively taking the medication.
Avatar f tn WIhat a big pain when you have to get up and do your teaching job. The thing with the lungs is they take a while to recover if irritated like they were when you had bronchitis, you can have productive cough left over for up to two months! So annoying. You can go ahead and take the Z pack but am not really sure why they gave that to you unless they are worried about mycoplasma which is what causes walking pneumonia. I'd continue the Claritin and go ahead with the z pack.
Avatar n tn This morning, I spit up a clot of dark blood. I had eaten a carrot muffin last night, & thought that this was just a piece of that, since it was about that color & substantial feeling. However, I then started coughing up some stuff, and it was all brownish blood mixed with mucous. I coughed several times, and each time it was dark blood with mucous. Once, It was a rather long piece, with a round bigger piece at one end. I could feel it come up out of my throat area.
Avatar f tn I just got over bronchitis maybe 2 weeks ago I went to the ER and they gave me a z pack but I didn't wanna take it. But even at the ER the baby was fine just stay hydrated and get well and this is crazy but rubs vicks on ur feet and put socks on to sleep I done that 2 nights and I woke up feeling alot better.
Avatar n tn I went to the doctor, and she put me on a z-pack. I finished the pack, along with taking albuterol for breathing sessions. I still have a cough, and went to a walk in today, and the doctor thought I might have bronchitis or pneumonia. I usually take prednisone for my breathing difficulties. Will this help with the possible broc/pne? She suggested 5 20mg. a day for 7 days. Has anyone had an experience like this? I am leaving on a cruise Sunday, and do not want to be sick.
Avatar n tn I had three rounds of Rochephin in each hip for three days . a Z pack and then started Cefdinir on sunday .SO my question if I am puking and coughing up lots of mucus and ribs on left side still sore does this mean my pneumonia is trying to clear up?
Avatar f tn Is there anything I should be watching out for to know if it gets worse? I started a z pack and he said call me Monday if you don’t feel better because he’d want blood work and x rays. But I hardly feel bad to know if I’m feeling better. Should I not go to work? Idk if it’s contageous. Ive had the fever for at least a month but maybe more so idk how long I’ve had this. So curious!
Avatar f tn Yes its fine I had pneumonia when I was 5 weeks and was prescribed a z pack and now I'm 24 weeks with a healthy baby girl
Avatar n tn ve had anti-biotic resistant strain before resulting in hospitalization while pregnant with twins. I took 4 days of the Z-pak and the pneumonia got worse. I ended up hospitalized for a week and lost the babies in 2005. I have it again right now. Just make sure you listen to your body. My current doc told me I had Bronchitis. The day after seeing him I couldn't catch my breath, couldn't stop coughing and my chest hurt so bad, I went in to the ER.
155534 tn?1275412255 I had it for 2 weeks, and it steadily got worse and worse. I went to the Doc. and she gave me a Z-Pack(antibiotics) an albuteral inhaler and a steroid pack to shrink my tissue back up. I finished all my meds about 3 days ago. About 2 days ago..I started getting this sharp localized pain in my lower right chest area. Right undermy right breast(I mean right where my breast ends). It is so painful. It started out just hurting when I coughed ..but now it hurts all the time.
Avatar f tn No worries! I've had 2 sinus infections and this past wk a kidney infection, the flu and pneumonia. Was hospitalized for 9 days. I've been on major doses of meds and they are all safe for pregnancy! I've also been on Flonase and double dose of the z pack. Along with many other meds. They were all prescribed by my obgyn and they said no worries for anything. Dr's are very cautious when prescribing meds during pregnancy!
Avatar m tn I went to the doctor about a week ago when my symptoms were at its worse, intense wheezing, especially at night, runny nose, cough, and sneezing, that what was pretty much all I had but the wheezing was the worst part (I could hear myself breathing). My first doc prescribe me albuterol, prednisone and a z pack, I took eveything and started feeling better. My symptoms never fully went away so I went back to the doctor today and I tested positive for walking pneumonia.
Avatar f tn He put me on a z-pack antibiotic. So this past week I went back because I am still coughing A LOT and I still feel like I have an infection. He listened to my lungs, gave me a breathing treatment and sent me for a chest x-ray. That was on Monday, since then (today being Friday) my coughing has increased and I am having bad pain in my ribs/lungs. At first it felt like I had been hit by a baseball bat, and today it is sharp stabbing pains when I breath, move or cough.
Avatar f tn I see a lot of people asking about z pack curing chlamydia/gonorrhea and the common response is “It has to be 1g at once to work.” I’m confused by this. 1 g is 1,500mg. The typical z pack is 1,500mg total over the course of 5 days. 500mg on day one and then 250mg the next four days. So my question is, why would it HAVE to be 1,000mg of z pack at once to work rather than also 1,500 over 5 days?
Avatar f tn Hi. I was diagnosed with a severe case of bronchitis July 9th. Dr expressed concerns of it being a bacterial infection since I had had the cough for so long already. He prescribed the following 3 meds for me: a z-pack, cough syrup with codeine, & prednisone. I took my meds everyday & never missed any dosages. By this past Tuesday, July 14th, but by Thursday, July 16th I felt terrible again.
Avatar n tn you could have easily had bronchitis which can cause purulent sputum (lime colored goo) as well...As caregiver said, Zithromax or the Z pack, is usually a good med for bacterial infections. If you find that your symptoms are getting worse despite therapy (such as increased sputum production, recurrent fevers, difficulty breathing, pain etc.), then I suggest you go back to the doctor for re examination, further testing if necessary, switching or addition of meds etc...
Avatar f tn m still trying to fight off my bronchitis, and they put me on Zithromax (Z-pack). But I would definitely go to the urgent care or see your PCP first.
Avatar f tn 2 inhalers we thought I was fine but I have been really sick for a week now and went to the ER today because I was dehydrated and thought my kids had given me the flu, turns out I have pneumonia.
627818 tn?1271777026 Liquid diet, pain meds and rest and he will be fine. I am on another Z-pack - went from a viral laryngitis to a cough so doc thought better safe than sorry as I was getting up "crud". Just had pneumonia and I don't want to go there again! I will try to check in more often!
Avatar m tn It began with trouble breathing in November and I was diagnosed with bronchitics and given a Z-Pack. The symptoms lessend but never went away. I went back to the doctor in January and had a positive blood test for walking pneumonia. I also had a chest x-ray and the doctor didn't see anything concerning. I did another round of antibiotics and my symptoms disappeared.
454221 tn?1259445739 I don't think that repeat bronchitis means that you are going to have lung cancer. It does seem like you have had many infections in a short period of time though...maybe he should get a sputum sample to see what kind of bacteria are there. If it is something that isn't sensitive to zithromax (z pack), then that would explain your repeat infections and would mean that you need a different antibiotic.
