1853014 tn?1340038575 Keep track of any and all side effects you have after receiving this vaccine. When you receive a booster dose, you will need to tell the doctor if the previous shots caused any side effects. Becoming infected with hepatitis A or B is much more dangerous to your health than receiving the vaccine to protect against these diseases. Like any medicine, this vaccine can cause side effects, but the risk of serious side effects is extremely low.
Avatar f tn My dad has always gotten a pneumonia vaccine, but this year when he went to get one he was told he didn't need one because he was over 65. What's up with that? He turned 70 this year and hasn't ever been told that. Is this part of Obama's plan for healthcare?
Avatar f tn Has anyone with CFS had the pneumonia vaccine Pneumo 23 and what was your experience of it?
250701 tn?1320974765 I hope you get better soon - very sorry that you got pneumonia. Amazingly - taking an x-ray may be an item we need to remind the dr's to do. If we get the pneumonia vaccine before tx would it prevent us from getting it during tx? I'm getting a pneumonia vaccine next week. Take care - I wish you the very best.
Avatar f tn I haven't started treatment yet but will next month. I had additional blood work to test for Hep A & B exposure. The results showed I have been exposed to A so I don't need the vaccine but I do need the vaccine for Hep B. My doctor told me I should get it before I start my treatment. He also suggested I get a flu shot. Is this normal?
Avatar n tn Do you think I would be strong enough for the swine flu (H1N1) vaccine, or should I wait until I have made a full recovery? Thanks.
Avatar n tn The chief medical officer for Ontario, Canada says there is no proof that the so called "second wave" of flu in the 1919 outbreaks that killed so many people was even the same strain. He says the widespread media talk that the second wave was the strongest may therefore be bunk, if there was no second wave. He also says the second big media myth is we are overdue for a pandemic.
163305 tn?1333668571 t get into nursing homes or assisted living facilities without having flu or pneumonia vaccines; pretty soon the elderly will have to have the shingles/zoster vaccine before they can enter a nursing home or ALF, then it will be the MMR, DPT - what the heck is that if not mandatory? Pretty soon I won't be able to visit my grandchild's school or my elderly loved one in the nursing home or ALF if I don't have these vaccines?
Avatar f tn As we all know a portion of the virus with an anti - fighter is in the vaccine itself to guard us from the flu strain that is air bourne. Yet what I remember reading when the virus itself it present in a weak immune system the counteract is not has benificial guarding us from getting it. I don't remember reading much on the Hep B thing - I do remember it was mentioned.
Avatar f tn You don't say if you had covid pneumonia or some other form. At any rate, the person to ask is your doctor.
Avatar m tn It may not cause much harm except that it may interfere to some extent with the immune response to the vaccine. Pneumonia vaccine is an inactivated vaccine containing only a portion of the microbe; therefore the vaccines cannot possibly cause pneumococcal disease. Neither will it cause any permanent immune system damage. It should in no way cause any serious future consequences. Do consult a local health care provider and discuss all your concerns. Hope it helps. Do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Flu shots have never bothered me, but I had a terrible reaction to the pneumonia vaccine - high fever, chills, swollen/painful arm, no appetite....
Avatar f tn I would get patch tested if you want to really know. I need to have that done because I am allergic to almost all topical antibiotics except erythromycin. I know it may be from over use or it could be a common ingredient. The dermatologist told me this, it wasn't my idea. So, I'm not surprised that this could happen. If you really want to find out try getting patch tested. I haven't done it because I don't want to itch. I am sick of itching.
518117 tn?1429276273 But, I am though afraid of taking shots, that are only going to make me sick. When I am trying to prevent things like flu and pneumonia. To prevent becoming ill to begin with. Then, there is this swine flu that is all in the news, etc. I am not liking what I am hearing about the vaccine for the swine flu. With COPD getting ill has increased somewhat in the past few years or so. Have had bronchitis and pleurisy several or more times.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the good and informative post. I did not know this re pneumonia vaccine--mine is getting near to 5 years old so good to know this anyhow. You seem very knowledgeable; do you know how long Tamiflu actually lasts?
Avatar n tn Because I have two implanted Neurostimulators, I have to be very careful amd try prevent any bacteria from spreading into my leads Are their some pictures of pneumonia mucus, so that I could compare know if I need to get additional help? The clinic doctor on campus gave me Azithromycin 250 MG tabs. I had to take two today and for the next four days will take one tablet. If I do have pneumonia or etc, would this antibiotic fight it? Sorry for the long post.
Avatar m tn Any ill effects on getting two shots of pneumonia vaccine within 3 years, I am unable to find anything on the net regarding this, please help. Thanks...
Avatar m tn Sorry to hear you had a second bout. I am recovering from my first that began in September and still struggling to have enough energy to work regularly. I had a Pneumovax yesterday which was a relief given my fear of another bout. From what I read on the web they just suggest getting a second shot after a minimum of five years if you are under 65 when you get your first. I am in Canada and maybe the rules are different here, but it makes no sense to me for you not to be able to get one.
Avatar m tn Foamy clear/white mucus lasting for this long is a likely sign you could have pneumonia, as far as a cure; you first need to see a doctor as soon as possible to determine the cause and the proper treatment.

419309 tn?1326503291 s been lots of discussion about seasonal flu and H1N1 vaccination, but many people tend to forget how dangerous pneumonia can be, especially if you have a chronic condition. Over 40,000 deaths occur every year in the US alone due to pneumonia -- and it's preventable! The CDC recommends certain people get the pneumonia vaccine: * All adults 65 years of age and older.
Avatar m tn organism that was not the initial infection that you get when you have lowered immunity due to the virus or some other condition. You can also get bacterial pneumonia as a secondary infection. Bacterial pneumonia is usually caused by a bacteria called Streptococcus pneumoniae. It is a bacteria that can be in the throat or respiratory tract in small numbers and it can be normal bacteria until someone gets run down due to a viral infection, fungal infection or other reasons.
649848 tn?1534633700 Although the CDC implies that flu vaccines are safe and there’s no need to weigh benefits against risk, Doshi disagrees. He points to an Australian study that found one in every 110 children under the age of five had convulsions following vaccinations in 2009 for H1N1 influenza. Additional investigations found that the H1N1 vaccine was also associated with a spike in cases of narcolepsy among adolescents. Doshi’s concerns echo those of Dr.
