pneumonia

1396846 tn?1332459510 No it is not safe for you to get a live virus vaccine. With MS the risk of a relapse is too great. I believe that the injection type of viruses are all dead type. But too be on the safe side you should ask who ever is going to give you the virus booster.
Avatar f tn Has anyone with CFS had the pneumonia vaccine Pneumo 23 and what was your experience of it?
Avatar m tn But all the reader has to do is Google “attenuated vaccines”, it means the vaccine contains a live but weakened form of a pathogenic virus. Do you really want to risk your health and inject live swine flu into your bloodstream in hopes it will immunize? Please don’t take that chance. http://www.infowars.
Avatar f tn Hi Susan. Where I work we are gearing up for the usual flu season. We have a lot of buildings with lots of people so it's in out interest to suggest and promote the use of vaccine as a reasonable precaution. Although it's not expected to be a 'heavy' season we are seeing that the southern hemisphere (winter now) evidence that it will likley be a more normal year. One of the vaccines available is a 'live' virus that is not recommened for some people.
Avatar f tn If pneumonia, is this a new pneumonia, a pneumonia condition caused by the flu virus itself, or standard pneumonia(s)? If a standard pneumonia, will a pneumonia shot five years ago give any protection, and/or would one now give any protection? Also, will Tamiflu from 2004 still work?
3191940 tn?1447268717 t get the flu from the vaccine. It is not a live virus. However, if you are exposed to the flu before getting the vaccine, or during the two-week period when you are building immunity, you can still get the flu. While your body is building immunity, your immune system is learning to recognize the flu virus, which may cause you to experience mild, flu-like symptoms. You are not contagious with the flu during that time, as you do not actually HAVE the flu.
518117 tn?1429276273 sorry i dont know about the pneumonia shots. i just had to jump in and concur about the flu shot idea of making some people ill. my husband says i'm nuts and its "just a coincidence". well he gets the flu shot every year and hasnt had anything wrong with him in 12 years besides a cold! then there's me...i caved into pressure and finally agreed to get the flu shot in November of 2006. Oh my the following year was horrible!
338416 tn?1420045702 DO NOT take the nasal mist vaccine, because it contains live virus culture, which can be a problem. Especially if you're taking a immunosuppressant drug. http://ms.about.com/od/treatments/a/flu_shot.htm My workplace has moved all of us into the same large room, so we're all sharing the same air and all getting the same diseases. I only get 5 days of sick time a year, and I'm out of sick days. (Four of those were for the flu!
Avatar m tn Vaccines against pneumonia, such as pneumococcal vaccine and Haemophilus influenza type B (Hib) vaccine, do not protect against coronavirus, which is a newly discovered virus with no vaccine or cure to date, according to the World Health Organization.
Avatar f tn As we all know a portion of the virus with an anti - fighter is in the vaccine itself to guard us from the flu strain that is air bourne. Yet what I remember reading when the virus itself it present in a weak immune system the counteract is not has benificial guarding us from getting it. I don't remember reading much on the Hep B thing - I do remember it was mentioned.

Avatar f tn My husband was hospitalized for pneumonia and he has pulmonary fibrosiis and congestive heart failure .He is 85 years . They could have given him the flu shot . Is there any harm in getting the shot once more???
478429 tn?1265244387 t get the virus by getting the vaccine. So, with all this being said and with the H1N1 virus running rampant now, I will be getting this vaccine. I know it hasn't been studied that long, but my theory is that Tamiflu and such isn't recommended for p/g woman b/c of the unknown effects on the fetus. So, to me, it's a no win situation on that front. So, I'm going to try to protect my unborn baby and myself so that both of our children can have a mother to share their lives with.
Avatar m tn If a vaccine is inactivated that just means that it is a dead virus. usually when they give you a vaccine that is active or not 100% inactivated it is a live "attenuated" virus. this means it has been rendered or become non-infectious. So both types of vaccines work. There are very rare cases where people got the flu or whatever from a live vaccine such as in children's vaccines sometimes. The rabies vaccine in the U.S. is inactivated (killed) virus. You cannot get rabies from it.
Avatar n tn My question is can I take the vaccine against swine flu virus. And I am getting ready to take the anti viral for my hcv does the vaccine affect or work for me.

Avatar f tn Hello I had COVID and pneumonia 3 weeks ago. I tested negative for COVID today and have no symptoms I'm just dealing with the pneumonia now which should be a few more weeks hopefully til I'm 100. Should I get the vaccine now or is it best to wait??
Avatar n tn We were advised to give her a flu shot and pneumonia vaccines. It is most likely the pneumonia vaccine that is causing the pain and the lump. She had a SEVERE reaction to the vaccine. Her arm swelled. The shot site was huge, very red, very swollen (have never seen anything like it). She also, became extremely, extremely ill (unstoppable vomitting, high fever). She was sooo sick. I had the same vaccines at the same time. the flu shot did not hurt at all.
676912 tn?1332812551 Ashelen- Only the flu mist has a live (weakened virus). The shot has a dead virus, just like any other vaccine. That's why I have to get the shot, and not the mist (I have a heart condition). Its absolutely not possible to get the flu from the shot. There is a small chance of getting it from the mist though.
916412 tn?1361201386 well its to late for me. is anyone else scared?will you take the vaccine if its offerd to you? back in 1976 500 people got sick from the vaccine and 26 died. im not tring to scare no one just wondering what my peers will do in this situation and if anyone is scared like me? in my city the peek of the normal flu season is not tell about feb to april im due january so im hopeing to be deliverd befor this all hits home.
571042 tn?1271447141 I am getting a flu shot. It is important to get one during pregnancy. I am not sure what you mean by you are trying to find one that isn't a live virus? As far as I know... the vaccine has to be a live virus for it to be a vaccine. I haven't heard of one that isn't... maybe your doctor knows more.
12832842 tn?1448728801 Consensus is that the flu shot itself (not the nasal mist version) does not harm anything because it is not a live virus. Oddly, my GP gave me every vaccination he could think of when I was diagnosed including live virus ones. I didn't know at the time that was potentially risky, but suffered no ill effects. Some MS treatments can lower immune response but Copaxone isn't one of those. Sounds like a coincidence with the colds.
