Avatar f tn Hello I had COVID and pneumonia 3 weeks ago. I tested negative for COVID today and have no symptoms I'm just dealing with the pneumonia now which should be a few more weeks hopefully til I'm 100. Should I get the vaccine now or is it best to wait??
Avatar n tn We were advised to give her a flu shot and pneumonia vaccines. It is most likely the pneumonia vaccine that is causing the pain and the lump. She had a SEVERE reaction to the vaccine. Her arm swelled. The shot site was huge, very red, very swollen (have never seen anything like it). She also, became extremely, extremely ill (unstoppable vomitting, high fever). She was sooo sick. I had the same vaccines at the same time. the flu shot did not hurt at all.
Avatar f tn Just for those who may not know, the H1N1 vaccine is included in the seasonal flu vaccine this year. Last year, I got both shots and had no problems w/the H1N1 vax. I just wanted to let you know that in case you might be wondering about the H1N1 part. In fact, I really didn't hear of any ill effects in the news from anybody taking the H1N1 shot.
Avatar f tn Has anyone with CFS had the pneumonia vaccine Pneumo 23 and what was your experience of it?
Avatar n tn I have asthma and 4 years ago I had pneumonia year after year. Than I started getting the pneumonia vaccine. I had no side effects from it expect no pneumonia.
Avatar m tn Any ill effects on getting two shots of pneumonia vaccine within 3 years, I am unable to find anything on the net regarding this, please help. Thanks...
338416 tn?1420045702 Hi, you don't need to get the pneumonia vaccine every year - once will do you until you reach a certan age, I believe I remember 65, and then you need to get it again. My pcp says I have to get the flu shot - no choice since my MI and possible MS. Thanks for the timely reminder.
Avatar m tn It may not cause much harm except that it may interfere to some extent with the immune response to the vaccine. Pneumonia vaccine is an inactivated vaccine containing only a portion of the microbe; therefore the vaccines cannot possibly cause pneumococcal disease. Neither will it cause any permanent immune system damage. It should in no way cause any serious future consequences. Do consult a local health care provider and discuss all your concerns. Hope it helps. Do keep us posted.
620048 tn?1358018235 Well, my father-in-law was in the last group getting that vaccine - before they took that dangerous vaccine off the market. That vaccine killed him. He was gone within a month of having received the swine flu vaccine. I later met at least a half dozen people who had been disabled in different ways from that vaccine - but I never ever met anyone who had actually gotten the swine flu!! Go figure!!
Avatar f tn My dad has always gotten a pneumonia vaccine, but this year when he went to get one he was told he didn't need one because he was over 65. What's up with that? He turned 70 this year and hasn't ever been told that. Is this part of Obama's plan for healthcare?
898849 tn?1241811271 How important is it to get the flu and/or pneumonia vaccine, being that I have heart failure. I just heard about the recent death in Washington where the individual had a heart condition, pneumonia and swine flu. I was recently diagnosed with CHF in January, so all this is still very new to me.
419309 tn?1326503291 * All adults 65 years of age and older.
Avatar f tn As a middle-aged adult I am thinking of getting pneumonia vaccine as well. My doctor thinks that the current vaccine - which protects against 23 specific strains of pneumonia - is probably not of much use to an adult because adults are typically stricken by strains of pneumonia not defended by the current vaccine.
Avatar m tn The smallpox vaccine is an ‘attenuated, or live vaccine; without it, the disease would probably continue to run rampant. This so called “dangerous” method of providing immunity has completely eradicated this terrible virus this century. Open the link and look at the picture of the little girl in the right hand margin; do you still think live vaccine is such a bad deal, Rockerforlife? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smallpox I don’t get you or your logic.
1930700 tn?1327064904 I got a Hep B vaccine years and years ago but I did not get my Hep A vaccine until this past year. I also got a pneumonia vaccine, a shingles vaccine, and a renewed tetanus-diptheria vaccine. Plus, the flu vaccine. Sorry you got so sick from it, but in the long run it is wise to get them.
Avatar m tn was wondering if docs are recommending pneumonia vaccinations or any other vaccinations before treatment. i am doing the hep a and b series.
Avatar n tn I got the pneumonia shot two days ago and today woke up to a very very red, hot to the touch and swollen arm from injection spot to elbow--is this normal
3191940 tn?1447268717 t get the flu from the vaccine. It is not a live virus. However, if you are exposed to the flu before getting the vaccine, or during the two-week period when you are building immunity, you can still get the flu. While your body is building immunity, your immune system is learning to recognize the flu virus, which may cause you to experience mild, flu-like symptoms. You are not contagious with the flu during that time, as you do not actually HAVE the flu.
1396846 tn?1332459510 I have a question about live virus vaccines. I had to have a physical for school and they had to do titers on me to see if I was immune to some of diseases. Well my MMR came back low so I need a booster so that I am immune since I will be working in the health care field. My question is, is it ok for me to get a live vaccine. I personally don't think it would be a problem but I know that live vaccines throw the immune system into gear and want to know if it can cause a relapse.
Avatar n tn m assuming you are referring to the Pneumovax 23? This is the pneumonia vaccine that is recommended as routine for those age 50+ or persons age 2 or older with certain chronic conditions or in certain environmental or social situations...
Avatar m tn I asked my doctor if I could get the pneumonia shot this year since I struggled so much last year with my second bout of Pneumonia. He said I should only get the shot if I am 65 years old or diabetic. I do not want to struggle this year like I did last year. Am I too young? Am I not eligible? Is it a health risk for me to get this shot?
250701 tn?1320974765 I hope you get better soon - very sorry that you got pneumonia. Amazingly - taking an x-ray may be an item we need to remind the dr's to do. If we get the pneumonia vaccine before tx would it prevent us from getting it during tx? I'm getting a pneumonia vaccine next week. Take care - I wish you the very best.
1186852 tn?1423660370 t be a problem if you have a slight illness when you get the vaccine. If, however, the vaccine is made from a LIVE vaccine, it's best not to get it when your immune system is compromised with ANY type of illness, especially an infection. This is because your body could be overwhelmed with no only th eillness that it's already fighting, but also with the addition of the live vaccine, which, of course, your body HAS to fight against to build up the immunity.
