Avatar n tn Despite having the data, the CDC has continued to assure pregnant women, a prime target group for the vaccine, and vaccine providers that the vaccine presents no risk for pregnant women. NCOW used data from their own survey of pregnant women aged 17-45 years and the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS), including updates through July 11, to estimate the true number of miscarriages and stillbirths following an H1N1 flu vaccination in the U.S.
Avatar f tn My dad has always gotten a pneumonia vaccine, but this year when he went to get one he was told he didn't need one because he was over 65. What's up with that? He turned 70 this year and hasn't ever been told that. Is this part of Obama's plan for healthcare?
Avatar m tn It may not cause much harm except that it may interfere to some extent with the immune response to the vaccine. Pneumonia vaccine is an inactivated vaccine containing only a portion of the microbe; therefore the vaccines cannot possibly cause pneumococcal disease. Neither will it cause any permanent immune system damage. It should in no way cause any serious future consequences. Do consult a local health care provider and discuss all your concerns. Hope it helps. Do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn As a middle-aged adult I am thinking of getting pneumonia vaccine as well. My doctor thinks that the current vaccine - which protects against 23 specific strains of pneumonia - is probably not of much use to an adult because adults are typically stricken by strains of pneumonia not defended by the current vaccine.
419309 tn?1326503291 s been lots of discussion about seasonal flu and H1N1 vaccination, but many people tend to forget how dangerous pneumonia can be, especially if you have a chronic condition. Over 40,000 deaths occur every year in the US alone due to pneumonia -- and it's preventable! The CDC recommends certain people get the pneumonia vaccine: * All adults 65 years of age and older.

Avatar n tn m very upset that hepatitis b vaccination was not recommendation when he was a baby. (1978) He remembered being hospitalized at the age of 7 with pneumonia. Could this have been a misdiagnosis of pneumonia instead of hepatitis b? One shot of I think the globulin injection (i think that is what it is called) would have cured him from this illness if it was diagnosed and his shot record evaluated in 1990 would have told them that he does not have teh hepatitis b vaccine.
163305 tn?1333668571 t get into nursing homes or assisted living facilities without having flu or pneumonia vaccines; pretty soon the elderly will have to have the shingles/zoster vaccine before they can enter a nursing home or ALF, then it will be the MMR, DPT - what the heck is that if not mandatory? Pretty soon I won't be able to visit my grandchild's school or my elderly loved one in the nursing home or ALF if I don't have these vaccines?
168348 tn?1379357075 I just do not know how you can tell if the vaccine is actually going to cause any issues in the long run when it is only tested such a short period of time. It took me 12 years to decide to have another child and I really would like to make sure that my baby does not have any issues especially from a vaccine that noone truely knows much about.
Avatar m tn I understand that most of the people who are hospitalised mainly die as a result of pneumonia. Does this mean that anybody who has had a pneumonia vaccination will be protected from this aspect of the infection and therefore have a greater chance of survival?
707563 tn?1626361905 The CDC has identified current measles outbreaks in 18 states in the US. Additionally, Brazil, Canada, Columbia, Madagascar, Philippines, Ukraine, Russia and several other countries are also seeing a resurgence in measles. (To check locations - https://www.precisionvaccinations.com/measles-hot-spots-include-clark-county-new-york-city-rockland-county-usa or https://www.cdc.gov/measles/cases-outbreaks.html) Measles had nearly disappeared in the U.S.
1930700 tn?1327064904 I got a Hep B vaccine years and years ago but I did not get my Hep A vaccine until this past year. I also got a pneumonia vaccine, a shingles vaccine, and a renewed tetanus-diptheria vaccine. Plus, the flu vaccine. Sorry you got so sick from it, but in the long run it is wise to get them.
938718 tn?1323783514 However, because some women are concerned about exposure to preservatives during pregnancy, manufacturers will produce preservative-free seasonal and 2009 H1N1 influenza vaccines in single dose syringes for pregnant women and small children.
Avatar f tn Hello I had COVID and pneumonia 3 weeks ago. I tested negative for COVID today and have no symptoms I'm just dealing with the pneumonia now which should be a few more weeks hopefully til I'm 100. Should I get the vaccine now or is it best to wait??
Avatar n tn We were advised to give her a flu shot and pneumonia vaccines. It is most likely the pneumonia vaccine that is causing the pain and the lump. She had a SEVERE reaction to the vaccine. Her arm swelled. The shot site was huge, very red, very swollen (have never seen anything like it). She also, became extremely, extremely ill (unstoppable vomitting, high fever). She was sooo sick. I had the same vaccines at the same time. the flu shot did not hurt at all.
Avatar m tn The Flu Shot Because of their increased susceptibility to complications, the seasonal flu vaccine is typically recommended for those with chronic Hepatitis C. Advocates claim that the best way to prevent the flu is through vaccination. The CDC recommends annual flu shots for everyone: * over the age of 6 months * unless they are allergic to eggs or have had an allergic reaction to a prior flu shot The formulation of the flu shot changes every year to protect people from current strains.
1468158 tn?1363026295 I would strongly recommend looking at the CDC website for the potential side effects of the flu vaccine and weigh up the chances of getting them versus your child getting sick. Personally, the only time I have ever considered or gotten the flu shot is when my grandma was going through chemotherapy and I was living with her. My mother, however, works in a clinic and gets them every single year. For both of us, it wasn't about protecting ourselves as much as protecting others.
Avatar f tn Just for those who may not know, the H1N1 vaccine is included in the seasonal flu vaccine this year. Last year, I got both shots and had no problems w/the H1N1 vax. I just wanted to let you know that in case you might be wondering about the H1N1 part. In fact, I really didn't hear of any ill effects in the news from anybody taking the H1N1 shot.
Avatar n tn then how come some people and that stupid CDC webpage 6 months is the 100% conclusive?
898849 tn?1241811271 How important is it to get the flu and/or pneumonia vaccine, being that I have heart failure. I just heard about the recent death in Washington where the individual had a heart condition, pneumonia and swine flu. I was recently diagnosed with CHF in January, so all this is still very new to me.
Avatar f tn Has anyone with CFS had the pneumonia vaccine Pneumo 23 and what was your experience of it?
