pneumonia

Avatar m tn The question is whether I should continue the interferon treatment when I am fighting the pneumonia. Your kind advice is very much appreciated. Many thanks. I myself has also had bronchiectasis (at lingular) though the pneumonia this time is at right lobe.
620048 tn?1358018235 that is recommended for treatment of pneumonia. The steroid is probably more for your COPD then the pneumonia itself as your breathing is probably worse. In hospital they would have started you on IV steroids and then tapered you to the oral dose. most people stay in the hospital only a few days with moderate pneumonia. With the added respiratory problems maybe you would have stayed in another day or two. Depending on your respiratory status prior to the pneumonia could be 2-4 weeks.
Avatar n tn Hi bibban12, The thing about pneumonia is it's just a broad term for lung inflammation, and the air sacs filling up with fluid, but it isn't a specific diagnosis of what caused the pneumonia.
Avatar m tn I Just got out of the hospital after a bout with pneumonia. It didn't look good at first,so they tell me, but here I am. I began shivering uncontrollably and when I got to the hospital I kept passing out. According to the nurses and my grandaughter I was a total mess. Any way the IV feed kept me going along with the many needles and whatever I had to swallow. The bed was hard and the food inedible.
Avatar f tn It did help with the pain but two hours later I got this heavy and wizzie thing in my chest, It just kept getting worse with-in aweek I felt bad and went back to the hospital with a cough and couldnt breath good. At the hospital they took a flu test and said they did not know why It was going on ! They sent me home with a antibiotic and said take if I got a secoundary infection only! 1444593 tn?1284397979 He sent it to a radiologist from a different hospital and he declared that it is was NOT pneumonia. YAY! He just has the nasty croup. He is on breathing treatments, cough medicine and a steroid to help his immune system! I am glad his Dr came to see him!
Avatar n tn If you have a virus that resulted in pneumonia, while allopathic medicine has little in the way of anti-virals, there are plants that have anti-viral properties. Olive leaf and elderberry are two examples. Herb Pharm makes a tincture that helps with virus control. That being said, though, and assuming this is viral in nature, once you have pneumonia you have progressed significantly through the viral process already and the more important thing is clearing the lungs.
Avatar n tn Husband had headache with 103 fever off and on (mostly on) for more than a week. Finally, on the third time to the ER, they admitted him, diagnosing with pneumonia. He's been at the hospital for a week now, and although fever and headache gone, after CT scan and a couple other procedures, they just told him that his pneumonia hasn't gone away. The doctor said he's going to try different treatment, and tomorrow get a lung biopsy.
Avatar m tn I went to my primary doctor and he felt it was a mild general infection and prescribed some anti biotics (ZPAC). This did nothing and I finally had to go to the hospital after a 104.2 fever scare. The hospital said I had a severe case of pneumonia in the right lung. Now I have been here another 6 days (total of 12 days sick) and have been on about 3 different IV antibiotics from Zyvox, Zosyn, to Levaquin and am on breathing treatments.
Avatar f tn t know yet, will be retested in Feb. I stopped tx after 8 months because I had pneumonia for 6 weeks and after that some kind of infection every month. Just could not take it any longer. Thought I'd bounce back right away and am really down and out that I still feel so bad.
Avatar n tn I was recently taken to the hospital because my lungs were filling with water and phlegm. At that time, they said it was Pneumonia. But I had to go back a second time, and this time, they said my lungs were filling with water and phlegm, and my heart was enlarged. Now, they said the water in my lungs has nothing to do with pneumonia but is caused by my heart being enlarged. According to my latest X-Ray results, I have Cardiomegaly, left ventricular form.
Avatar n tn We took him back to his doctor and had x-rays taken. He then had pneumonia in his right lower lobe and was put on Cleocin for 10 days. Once he was off the Cleocin he started having fever again and still had his cough. Took him back to his doctor and had more x-rays. He had pneumonia again, but in his left lower lobe. He was put back on Cleocin. Ended up taking him to Children's hospital where they treated him for pneumonia for 2 days then sent home to take Cefdinir for 12 days.
Avatar n tn Cardiology also came to visit my brother in ICU and determined that he had never been fully treated for the pericarditis due to the complications that always followed from the pneumonia, septic shock, and kidney damage. (Also during the last hospital stay, a full immune deficiency work-up was conducted with all of the regular checks turning up negative.
Avatar n tn hook, im ready to move on now, just to clarify because i know english is not my native language--you do understand that the bout of pneumonia and treatment was one month before testing and 2 years after our separation? I hope it doesnt change anything? Thank you, im out of here.
Avatar f tn It is very unlikely that her lungs would have been permanently damaged, by either the infection (pneumonia) or by the antibiotic treatment. It is more likely that her current symptoms (cough and wheeze after running and playing) are caused by asthma and would respond to other asthma medication, in addition to the ventolin. Control of the asthma will most likely require additional asthma medication, taken regularly on a daily basis.
Avatar n tn Hello My husband has been suffering from high evening fever and sweats with dry cough since one month. Few days back he got admitted in hospital. In his chest x-ray linear opacity is there radiating from right hilum into the right upper zone. CT scan also showed some complications like early cavitation, early fibrobronchectatic changes with multiple small rounded nodules with irregular margin throughout right upper lobe. Doctors started with antibiotics injections with an assumption of pneumonia.
Avatar f tn My Dad within the last month age 77- was taken to the hospital for pneumonia, after a bout of bronchitis, he was getting weak and very off balance and falling. Avatar m tn 9 year old daughter was diagnosed with pneumonia last night. Now she is complaining that she is having lower back pain. Is this kidney infection?
1321692 tn?1304298071 It last between two to three weeks and worsens at night. I started to get it after I had a bad case of the pneumonia in the fourth grade. I am now 19. I know that whopping cough is more common in children, but to me it sounds more like whopping cough than the pneumonia and bronchitis that I have been diagnosed with. Does it sound like pneumonia, bronchitis, whopping cough, or something else? Thank you for your help.
Avatar n tn Buddy was diagnosed with pneumonia and has gone through a course of doggy antibiotics and 3 courses of human antibiotics. The right lung is full of fluid. He would get better, then be energetic and get worse. It was suggested that he may not have pneumonia but CHF. Is there anything to do to help him. The vet doesn't seem to have any suggestions. Would a diuretic help? He's starting to not eat now.
Avatar f tn I'm a 32 year old male in Canada. I'm 185lb,5'9". I've had a dull chest pain on my left side right under my armpit area and around to the center of the chesty for the past 4 months. I've been ignoring it as it was such a dull pain I'd almost call it a sensation instead of pain. So I had the flu last week as did my whole family. I was hit hard, very weak, major headache, neck and back ache, fever. Never developed much coughing but felt a bit phlegm.
Avatar n tn My Friend has had Pneumonia, Empyema was in the hospital for a week while they weren't sure he'd made it through surgery then recovered, he was home for 6 weeks following the hospital stay and is back at work now. He is still experiencing severe pain during even mild exersise or any even mildly heavy breathing. He is having problems at work due to this and is the only one working in his household due to his wife's medical issues.
620048 tn?1358018235 Darn, erased my message by accident...actually I did find out that my pneumonia was caused by my swallowing while I was in the hospital before. They sent me home with some guidelines which I tried to following but I eveidently didnt do enough. I saw and talked to saw so many Drs and nurses while there....but my mind just gets bogged down with so much information plus I was sick.
Avatar f tn I am a staunch advocate of treatment for serious chronic diseases in a teaching hospital, rather than by an individual practicioner, no matter how well-regarded. The best of luck.
