pneumonia

Avatar f tn Dear Pizmo9, Treatment for cancer can put you at increased risk for conditions such as pneumonia. The decision as to when to resume radiation therapy should be be made in consultation with your radiation oncologist who will advise based on your overall clinical condition.
1321692 tn?1304298071 It last between two to three weeks and worsens at night. I started to get it after I had a bad case of the pneumonia in the fourth grade. I am now 19. I know that whopping cough is more common in children, but to me it sounds more like whopping cough than the pneumonia and bronchitis that I have been diagnosed with. Does it sound like pneumonia, bronchitis, whopping cough, or something else? Thank you for your help.
Avatar m tn Influenza viruses can cause a common cold or flu, leading a healthy individual to take a few days or a week off work. However, the flu can exacerbate existing health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease, and inflammatory disorders, leading to severe complications for individuals over 65 with a weakened immune system.
Avatar n tn If you have a virus that resulted in pneumonia, while allopathic medicine has little in the way of anti-virals, there are plants that have anti-viral properties. Olive leaf and elderberry are two examples. Herb Pharm makes a tincture that helps with virus control. That being said, though, and assuming this is viral in nature, once you have pneumonia you have progressed significantly through the viral process already and the more important thing is clearing the lungs.

Avatar f tn t know yet, will be retested in Feb. I stopped tx after 8 months because I had pneumonia for 6 weeks and after that some kind of infection every month. Just could not take it any longer. Thought I'd bounce back right away and am really down and out that I still feel so bad.
Avatar m tn Given the uncomplicated childhood pneumonia, subsequent asthma symptoms relieved with a single steroid treatment, and rosacea you probably have food and perhaps inhalant allergies, maybe to mold or something common. Hemorrhoids may indicate gluten intolerance. I would start with a skin allergy test and food sensitivity panel before bothering with the lab work I mentioned above. Low immunity can rarely be treated effectively in adults.
Avatar f tn My dad has always gotten a pneumonia vaccine, but this year when he went to get one he was told he didn't need one because he was over 65. What's up with that? He turned 70 this year and hasn't ever been told that. Is this part of Obama's plan for healthcare?
Avatar n tn iam just geting over pneumonia and i have started getting joint pain.
Avatar n tn Just a quick follow up question regarding the answer you gave me Dr. I have found a couple of online articles stating that Ribavirin has either: little or no HIV effect.
Avatar n tn Buddy was diagnosed with pneumonia and has gone through a course of doggy antibiotics and 3 courses of human antibiotics. The right lung is full of fluid. He would get better, then be energetic and get worse. It was suggested that he may not have pneumonia but CHF. Is there anything to do to help him. The vet doesn't seem to have any suggestions. Would a diuretic help? He's starting to not eat now.
Avatar m tn Yes the studies that amblyopia from birth or child hood has traditionally responded poorly to treatment in adults. Treatment much much more successful if started before age 7 The new studies were done on removing congenital cataracts not due to striabismus or aneisometrophia. The new research does not suggest that treatment is highly successful just some better.
1853014 tn?1340038575 I was given my 3rd dose of Hep A&B shot yesterday in one arm and a pneumonia shot in the other arm. This morning woke up with burning feeling down the back of my right leg and sore to touch. Is this normal?
Avatar m tn The flue is epidemic where I live right now. I was encouraged to have the flu shot prior to treating & I did. There was a question a few months ago about the Shingles vaccine so I asked about all three. Both my GI & PCP told me (at the time) I could have a flu shot & pneumonia while on treatment but discouraged the Shingles. At that time my ANC was around 1 or so. This is based on my particular medical history however.
Avatar n tn Hi bibban12, The thing about pneumonia is it's just a broad term for lung inflammation, and the air sacs filling up with fluid, but it isn't a specific diagnosis of what caused the pneumonia.
Avatar n tn I might have worded that funny about "asthma can lead to pneumonia but not the other way around". Pneumonia can also antagonize asthma if the person already has asthma, but pneumonia doesn't actually cause asthma.
Avatar n tn It showed pneumonia in the bottom of both lungs.. I took cipiro for 2 weeks...Felt better now Im coughing bad and coughing up yellow phelghm. New xrays showed nothing.Whats going on? And what kind of pneumiona lives in the bottom of the lungs? This discussion is related to Multiple Lung Nodules, Pneumonia, Sweats, Minor Atelectasis.
Avatar f tn The word associated may mean that these conditions can cause BXSIS or that BXSIS can predispose the lungs to one of those listed, especially in the realm of infectious disease where a host of bacterial organisms including the more common bacteria (those that commonly cause pneumonia). In recent years the combination of BXSIS and what are called Atypical Mycobacteria (related to TB) has been seen with increasing frequency. In these instances the question often remains, which came first?

279234 tn?1363105249 I went from bronchitis to pneumonia within 3 days. I was in the ER Wed. They gave me a breathing treatment, steroids, a z-pack, vicodin, and sent me home. The ER doctor said I was too far gone for Tami-flu and started the course for pneumonia that was just starting into my left lung. The ER doctor said the same thing about the testing for the swine flu...he said it wasn't reliable..(you don't hear that on the news..
Avatar f tn I later was diagnosed with bronchitis and after a couple of weeks and chest xray was told I had pneumonia. I had a CT Scan last year which showed a lesion. I was told it was scar tissue. During the last several months I have had 4 chest xrays and 2 more CT Scans showing new spots on my right lung. The last CT Scan showed some spots looking better and others looking worse. I still have a cough with no other symptoms except for occasional greenish phlem in small amounts.
Avatar n tn Bacterial or viral lung infection can precipitate asthma with wheezing in a person genetically predisposed to asthma. Treatment of the presumed asthma, aside from treatment of the infectious pneumonia, is appropriate. So, this could be asthma, superimposed on pneumonia. Your son could have whooping cough, despite immunization against it. If his fever and sweating with clammy skin has subsided, it is probably a sign that the antibiotic therapy has been effective and the pneumonia is clearing.
Avatar n tn I recently had my puppy who was less than 2 years old pass away from aspiration pneumonia. I tried everything from antibiotics to oxygen therapy and nebulization treatment. Unfortunately, he just couldn't handle it and 3 days later he was gone. I've been thinking about it the last couple of months and trying to understand what aspiration pneumonia is and how it caused his death. The vet explained to me that aspiration pneumonia is an infection that can feel like a chemical burn.

Avatar m tn //www.aidsmap.com/DAD-study-long-term-treatment-with-tenofovir-associated-with-increased-risk-of-serious-liver-disease/page/3028513/ Apparently, despite the fact that the TDF itself is harmful to the liver, its benefits outweigh its negative consequences...for those that really need the treatment with it. Hopefully TAF will improve this... Sorry for the bad news guys...
Avatar f tn Hi Odette72, If you were never treated for Scarlet fever you can get long term complications from it like Rheumatic fever or kidney problems. Also, fever, pneumonia, throat abscesses, ear infections and skin infections. Most people don't get the complications but it can happen and that is why they treat this with antibiotics early on. Maybe you can see an infectious disease doctor. Do you have any problems with your kidneys or heart? If not that hopefully you will be okay.
