1468105 tn?1287151463 My 6 year old daughter had a CT scan for possible trauma after bike fall. She didn't have any internal injuries, but the CT Scan showed a lung nodule, which required a 2nd CT Scan of her chest. The 2nd CT scan revealed a 3.7mm lobulated suprahilar mass (ill defined), an 11mm nodule (ill defined) in the infrahilar region, and 2 other 5mm nodules on in the middle/lower lobes, and a couple of enlarged lymph nodes. There was some septal thickening and multiple subpleural blebs.
Avatar f tn My eleven year old daughter suffers from chronic cough, chronic pneumonia. She has every test known to man ( I think) and a few surgeries, both exploratory and for sinus surgery. Despite being treated by a team of doctors, no one can pinpoint a reason for the continuing pneumoias. She has been tested and treated for reflux, asthma, sinusitis, immunology. She is becoming resistant to antibiotics and we are very frightened for her.
Avatar n tn The dr today did another xray and said that despite being on meds her pneumonia has gotten considerably worse. She wants to refer her to a pediatric pulmonologist to have some other things checked but she didn't want to expand on what she was wanting her checked for. I am very concerned. My daughter doesn't act like she feels bad so I am confused on what is going on? Shouldn't someone with pneumonia feel bad? She was also diagnosed with hypoglycemia today. I am scared.
Avatar n tn Hi,Mycoplasma pneumonia is atypical and notorious for it's slow long course,I would say if she is still experiencing symptoms then the infection isn't gone completely or she was misdiagnosed. If she has already taken a course of antibiotics and you have insurance, then I would suggest a Bronchoscopy, with Bronchoalveolar lavage.
Avatar f tn My son is 7 years old and has had pneumonia twice in the last 2 years. The second time they told me it returned in the exact same spot. They told me to have another xray in 6 weeks. Hes otherwise a healthy boy what would cause it to return in the same spot. I know there are probably many causes but what comes to mind?
Avatar n tn Never even rotovirus, only croup. A couple (2-3) times it has turned into pneumonia. The pediatric ENT did a bronchoscopy on her and it was perfectly normal. Now I have appointments with a pediatric pulmonologist and an immunologist. She has had allergy testing and is no allergies to anything. In the summers she is perfectly fine but from late August to even as late as May she has gets croup.
Avatar n tn My son went to the hospital because he was complaining of stomach pain and chest pain he had a chest x-ray and EKG done the chest x-ray came back that he has pneumonia and the EKG showed prolonged QT. He had a ECHO done it was normal. Also had a 24 hr halter monitor placed it showed a few extra heart beats. Cardiologist says no need for any treatment just a follow up appointment in a year.
Avatar f tn Wed we go to this additional doctor in philly.
Avatar f tn Hello, my daughter, age 3, had a bronchoscopy and CT scan after repeated bouts of pneumonia in the same spot, right middle lobe. This all started after a severe RSV/pneumonia hospitalization as an infant. Her CT scan was read as "mild bronchiectasis" in the right middle lobe, same spot as her atelectasis. We know for sure that her last bout of pneumonia in march never fully cleared, b/c we did X-rays every 3 months. So she's had this atelectasis spot for quite awhile now.
Avatar f tn any pneumonia symptoms?? make sure he stays up to par on the fluids.
Avatar n tn I might have worded that funny about "asthma can lead to pneumonia but not the other way around". Pneumonia can also antagonize asthma if the person already has asthma, but pneumonia doesn't actually cause asthma.
Avatar f tn My son is 7 years old has had pneumonia at LEAST 5 times in his life (will find my copies of his record which Ihave to prove it)after having the vaccine, rsv twice before he was 1 year old after having the vaccine, has had a bronchoscopy twice once at 10mos old and one at 5 years old, first one to determine diagnosis second to receive prognosis over time. Today he is 7 with pneumonia again home on Omnicef, spitting out so I can see blood tinged dark green mucous.
Avatar m tn When your cd4 falls below 200. You wouldn't have PCP within 45 days of infection.

550796 tn?1214942591 Please ask your vet for a prescription for an expectorant, or if your vet believes that an over the counter pediatric expectorant and/or cough medicine will help. The rest of the help is supportive therapy. And good luck with your little guy!
Avatar f tn Yes I did tell them. The pneumonia symptoms are starting to clear up I don't have a fever, never had a cough, starting to breathe better, and I have a lot more energy but still a bit light headed and throat is kind of sore and my voice hasn't return fully. I have been tested will get the results tomorrow.
Avatar n tn There is a shortage of pediatric ophthalmologists and the ones there are are badly over-worked (with the malpractice insurance crisis and falling reimbursement from private insurance, Medicare, Medicaid this will only get worse). So you should be prepared for long waits whereever you go. youd child needs to see a pediatric ophthalmologist. Make the arrangements soon. Find one at www.aao.
Avatar n tn We took him back to his doctor and had x-rays taken. He then had pneumonia in his right lower lobe and was put on Cleocin for 10 days. Once he was off the Cleocin he started having fever again and still had his cough. Took him back to his doctor and had more x-rays. He had pneumonia again, but in his left lower lobe. He was put back on Cleocin. Ended up taking him to Children's hospital where they treated him for pneumonia for 2 days then sent home to take Cefdinir for 12 days.

2052165 tn?1331146225 Current status is that my daughter two times suffer from severe pneumonia, sometimes I observed sweating on her forehead, growth is not up to the mark. Her color is pink. Avatar f tn Yes “walking pneumonia” is contagious. The development of more symptoms, in the face of antibiotic therapy, is worrisome as is the “side pain” which I assume to be pleurisy and suggests that this infection may fall into the category of complicated pneumonia. In this circumstance you should definitely request careful reevaluation by your doctor or his designate to include at a minimum a repeat chest X-ray, a complete blood count and culture of your sputum.
Avatar f tn I have been having what seems like gallbladder issues for approximately 6 weeks, I first had a bad attack 6 weeks ago after eating pizza (I don't often eat foods high in fats) and had to go to the ER and get morphine. I have been having attacks since then after I eat dairy, eggs, and fats. I have had bloodwork (including a CBC), an ultrasound, and a HIDA scan. All have turned up normal.
Avatar f tn One might suspect that you have underlying asthma and that when you get a viral infection each year, it triggers pneumonia –like symptoms. I would suggest getting a pulmonary function test while you are sick to see if this is, indeed, asthma. If this is not the case, another possible reason is that the local immune system in your lungs is not protecting you from the infection. This is usually an antibody problem and can be checked with a blood test.
5601163 tn?1370701672 I recently underwent a two week course of Levaquin for pneumonia. On the follow-up visit with my doctor, a chest x-ray showed "right basilar opacity," which caused my doctor to order a CT scan. What does this mean?
Avatar m tn Went to the doctor today and they said this was caused by pneumonia. does ars cause pneumonia? Asked the doctor about the rash, she didn't know what it was but gave me a cream for it.
