Avatar f tn I'm hoping someone can help me. I had community acquired pneumonia at Christmas 15 for the first time which required 2 nights hospital stay. Prior to this if not had any real health issues, ex social smoker ie maybe 2/3 cigarettes every couple of weeks for about 8 years until about 13 months ago. 7 months later I got pneumonia again (still recovering now 3 weeks later).
7900821 tn?1395192104 There are many causes of recurrent pneumonia including underlying lung disease either acquired or inherited (for example cystic fibrosis, with or without a condition called bronchiectasis), an acquired abnormality of your immune system, recurrent aspiration of food and/or liquid, aspiration of a non-food foreign body or the acquisition of an unusual/uncommon type of bacteria, to mention a few.
Avatar f tn My son is 7 years old and has had pneumonia twice in the last 2 years. The second time they told me it returned in the exact same spot. They told me to have another xray in 6 weeks. Hes otherwise a healthy boy what would cause it to return in the same spot. I know there are probably many causes but what comes to mind?
Avatar m tn If that is correct, the course of your illness is consistent with what is called, Community Acquired Pneumonia (CAP -- pneumonia acquired when not hospitalized). There are many causes of pneumonia (bacteria, fungi, viruses, chemical or organic irritants) and, even with extensive bacteriologic testing the specific cause is often not determined. The information you have provided, including the imaging studies (X-ray and CT) provides no clues as to the cause of your pneumonia.
Avatar m tn Hi, I am a 22 year old woman, I don`t smoke, I was treated with levaquin for community acquired pneumonia for a little more than a month (horrible side effects), I was in the hospital 3 times, for 5 days in two of them (the second one was a relapse) and only ER the third one. What is unnusual for me is that the last hospital diagnosed me acute bronchitis and the other ones pneumonia,(the gap between the 2nd and the third hospital was 2 weeks, is this logical???).
Avatar n tn In November, he was again admitted with similar symptoms, which did develop into pneumonia, although this time he was not intubated and his lung continued to function on its own. Less than 2 weeks ago (Feb. 22), he was again admitted for with the same initial symptoms (pericarditis) which developed with greater complications: pericarditis with fluid build-up around the heart, aspiration pneumonia, septic shock, and kidney failure.
Avatar n tn Your description indicates that you definitely have acute bronchitis and probably have community acquired pneumonia. The green phlegm suggests that the infection is bacterial and would almost certainly be responsive to an antibiotic. The wheezing could be due to the bronchitis and/or aggravation of underlying asthma, but in either case, it is an indicator that the infection is compromising your respiration and that too is serious.
1280753 tn?1367757932 Moxifloxacin is for the treatment of acute bacterial sinusitis, acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, community acquired pneumonia, complicated and uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections, and complicated intra-abdominal infections. It should clear your infections. If not you many need a stronger antibiotic. Hang in there!
Avatar m tn was just concerned her pneunomia was attributed to a recently acquired HIV infection as they are struggling to work out why/where the pneumonia came from. My anxiety is through the roof due to my incident of poor judgement and I get sick thinking that my stupity could have made my wife extremely ill!!!

Avatar n tn and a lack of air movement in my lower left lung. She diagnosed me with community acquired pneumonia. I was prescribed Robitussin with codeine to help me sleep, although all it really did was tire me slightly. After another week of feeling completely miserable I started to breath better, my nose dried out, and my cough produced less and less green mucus. Sleeping then was hard, but I was able to take my meds, settle down, sleep for about two hours, wake up again from coughing and repeat.
Avatar m tn Headache (see Nexium Headaches) Diarrhea Nausea Flatulence Abdominal (stomach) pain Constipation Dry mouth Emerging evidence indicates that PPI therapy, particularly with long-term and/or high-dose administration, is associated with several potential adverse effects, including enteric infections (eg, Clostridium difficile), community-acquired pneumonia, and hip fracture, all of which have received much attention recently.
Avatar f tn How long does it take for this to clear up? What causes scar tissue? Is it normal to have pneumonia as frequently as he does? I do own a pulse oximeter, which I use to closely monitor his o2 (normally he is 96 or above, several times a week he does drop to 91-95), usually in addition to other symtpoms of clamminess, shortness of breath, frequent/persistant coughing. He is from a pet free, smoke free home. We have a family history of asthma and allergies.
Avatar n tn s okay to get the opinion of someone in this community too. I have been dealing with these symptoms for about 2 years and they seem to occasionally get better, but the overall trend is down. Currently I am taking time from work because I cannot use a computer or talk to anyone for more than an hour without having severe pain.
4205163 tn?1354290060 Sorry to hear you are suffering! I would add all symptoms and occurrences rather than edit them down to what seems most Lyme-like. A good doc will know how to see patterns in the data and exclude the outliers. I'm not medicallyl trained, but if I were diagnosed with MS, I would consult an LLMD for a second opinion, since nonLLMDs are not likely to consider Lyme in a differential diagnosis.
Avatar n tn STDs are rarely acquired from performance of cunnilingus and you have negative tests. The likelyhood that your symptoms are due to an STD acquired from the exposure you describe are close to zero. Believe your tests. Your sore throat and swollen lymph nodes may be due to some community acquired virus you have picked up (not necessarily from the person you performed oral sex on but in the course of day-to-day activities. Lots of different viruses cause these sorts of symptoms.
Avatar f tn t know if I will have the physical energy. I began to look into causes of high WBC count, and I saw the symptoms of leukemia. I have every single one, including the night sweats. However, I also read that prednisone can cause a high WBC count as well. My question is, is prednisone a strong enough medicine that it could be causing all my symptoms? I've had a prednisone injection, as well as several rounds of the pills, since the time I began feeling ill. Is prednisone that strong?
Avatar f tn The first and third partners have been tested negative for some time now. Which makes me nervous about the last one. After her in end of Sept(23) i acquired pneumonia a week before Halloween. Since then until now my symptoms have been swollen lymph nodes in neck for going on three weeks. Rash on inner left thigh that doesn't itch. My liver hurt for two days. I think i see things especially when i look outside at the sky. Had one night sweat.
Avatar f tn 3 CM are still there as well as the nodule in my lung not related to pneumonia. I do notice if I drink alcohol the flu symptoms are exaserbated and the night sweats get pretty bad to the point of soaking down to my mattress. So I don't know if I should just go get a second opinion, or take extra good care of myself, eat well, sleep as much as I can, exercise and don't touch alcohol. Then see what the next CT scan in March shows.
Avatar n tn I was waiting all day for a call back...
Avatar n tn If you are going to notice the symptoms of a newly acquired herpes infection they will occur within 2-20 days after infection. Most folks don't notice symptoms. If you have any pain in the genital area you should be seeing your provider. Prostate type pain is not usual and shouldn't be ignored.
Avatar m tn I would think small while being on the antibiotics
