pneumonia

I was diagnosed with pneumonia about 3 weeks ago. I've been on a Z pack, Avelox, predniszolne, and Albuterol pump. After 3 visits to the ER, I am still coughing and wheezing and have shortness of breath. The last ER doctor gave me a nebulizer machine and Albuterol solution. I am also on Allegra. When will the coughing, wheezing and shortness of breath end? 3 chest xrays and a lung cat scan all came back clear after the antibiotics were finished.
Hello: since I had my baby 2-1/2 years ago, I have had pneumonia 5 times. I am always tired. I recently had a CAT scan and bronchiscopy to see if there was possibly something more wrong with me. Nothing unsual found. My right lung, middle lobe is where the pneumonia continues to reoccur. I have always been healthy. I used to workout 5-7 days/wk. prior to having Sam. During and after the pregnancy, I have not worked out at all. I am 5'6, 130 lbs. Please help.
You may or may not have the "flu" but raising "brownish, thick smelly mucous" is consistent with acute bronchitis and/or pneumonia, likely secondary to bacterial infection. Minimizing the duration and severity of this illness will probably require antibiotic therapy. If your symptoms have not resolved when you receive this message, you should definitely seek medical care.
Dr's, I take HIV/ STD tests yearly. My last 1 was a few months ago & all was negative. The window in that line of testing was 7 weeks past the last intercourse activity (I should have waited another week to be at 8 wks). It was unprotected with a woman I know (non-drug user, in her 40's, works with me). About a month ago, I had cunninglingus & mutual masturbation with another woman, I recently met.
I had to undergo anti hiv test at 9 months with the non-reactive / negative .. but I have all the symptoms .. and for about 7 months my stool always accompanied by mucus and then I try to check a stool culture and the results were found Klebsiella pneumoniae ... I was so frightened with the result ... is this something to do with hiv? whether anti hiv test results I was a fake? please help me ....
What other symptoms are present? Are there other co-morbid medical conditions present? Pneumonia usually responds well to antibiotics. If the symptoms persist despite the prescribed medications, a repeat chest x-ray or imaging studies may help determine if the infection is still present. Other considerations to be ruled out include allergic issues as well. Take care and do keep us posted.

I have very similar symptoms. I got a bug three weeks ago that lasted for 3 days - sore throat, stuffy, cough and I slept for an unbelieveable amount of time over those 3 days. I started to get a cough a few days later. It got worse and worse. My chest hurts - in a kind of achey, heavy way. The mucus ranges from yellow to green/grey to brown, and sometimes is a spotty combination with a pink tint. The taste is horrible and sometimes I think it tastes like blood.
YOu could easily have a lung infection of sorts. You need to see a doctor who will examine you properly and order appropriate tests if necessary especially because you are running temps and having colored sputum. Maybe you need antibiotics. I hope you feel better soon.

Thyme tincture to help that, This morning instead of coughing up white phlegm, I coughed up a bit of slightly blood stained mucus. I also have no appetite, feel queasy now and again, and so weary. There is no pain when I breathe, no more blood stained mucus, but feel very shaky and nervy. I can breathe ok, but feel there is a little bit of mucus stuck deep down that's hard to bring out. lips are not blue or anything.
I had pneumonia in July, and was hospitalized. They doctor did a bronchoscopy, and after I took antibiotics, probiotics, and predisone. Shortly after I stop taking the predisone, I started to have difficulty breathing, and started to cough more and more. I did another CT scan, and lungs were clear. The doctor gave me advair to use, it helps, but I have to use it everyday, and I still have a breathing issue. Also, after the first use I coughed up a yellowish chuck of mucus.
But it is usually a result of some other kinda bug thats not treated resulting in that it causes fluid on the lungs, which takes a while to turn into pneumonia. If you arnt having symptoms of the original chest cold, or flu your fine.

We had an xray done and they saw cloudy-ness all throughout his lungs, which led them to believe it was a bacterial pneumonia and not aspiration pneumonia. He is on two different antibiotics, zenequin and clavamox and has been for the last week and a half. We've also been inducing a cough 3-4 times a day to assist him in clearing his lungs. We are seeing slight improvement in his cough, which isn't as frequent and not as productive, but he is still very fatigued.
This morning I woke up with the same thing (mucus, coughing) and while I was eating my turkey sandwich, I coughed up some really thick mucus. I spit it out and it was brown. Brown mucus doesn't seem normal, but I don't cough up mucus much....should I see a doctor?
You need to know where you stand. Are you having any other symptoms? If I were you, the first time I saw the black mucus I would've quit right then and there.
its strange really I take Ventolin and Symbicort Turbohaler for treatment for my chest tightness and heavy mucus production (remaining symptoms since contracting m.pneumonia) but im now told I have asthma...one doctor told me its just a mild asthma and the other its just hyperactive airways due to previous infection....So.. 1. if my airway are colonized with Mycoplasma Pneumonia does it mean Im gonna now have asthma for ever now? 2.Is there a treatment to end this colonization????
Hello, These symptoms can be due to bronchitis or pneumonia. Symptoms of bronchitis include Cough that produces mucus, Soreness in the chest, Fatigue, Mild headache, Mild body aches, Low-grade fever, Watery eyes and Sore throat. Diagnosis is done by physical examination. Sometimes chest X-ray may be needed. I feel that you should get yourself examined by a physician so as to reach a confirmatory diagnosis as treatment is diagnosis specific.
rhinorrhea, sneezing, coughing, loss of appetite, etc.; and the burning in my throat was beginning to wane as the other symptoms increased. And, upon waking the subsequent day, I had noticed that the cold symptoms were clearing up somewhat, and that the burning in my throat was gone completely. However, as I rose from my slumber, I noticed a sharp, stabbing pain in my chest. Initially, I thought it was my heart, and then concluded that it must be my lungs.
My 6 month old was just diagnosed with pneumonia today! Anyone have any experience with this? He's so young to be so sick already. I feel very sad for him and VERY guilty. You see, I returned to work at a daycare part time and he's been coming with me. I knew there was a chance he would get sick. But I thought maybe a cold, not PNEUMONIA!! Needless to say, I won't be going back to work. It's not worth him getting sick. Anyway, has anyone ever dealt with a baby so young getting pneumonia?
Because I have two implanted Neurostimulators, I have to be very careful amd try prevent any bacteria from spreading into my leads Are their some pictures of pneumonia mucus, so that I could compare know if I need to get additional help? My husband and I lost our 4 1/2 month old daughter to RSV complicated by Bacterial Pneumonia. She was born healthy with no problems or complications. She had a cough since the first of October 2002. We took her to the doctor 3 times, Oct. 7th, Oct. 28 and & Dec. 26th. The doctor didn't treat her at all for any of the problems that we had advised him that she had been having. Her last visit was Dec . 26th. She had fever Christmas night and we took her the very next day.
