But, GBS can be passed from a mother to baby during delivery and cause serious illnesses like
pneumonia, sepsis, and meningitis. Only a small number of
babies born to mothers colonized with GBS will become sick, however. If You are considered high risk for transmission your doctor will likely treat you with IV antibiotics during delivery - or possibly regardless of risk level. If baby developes signs of illness, they can do the same for him/her.
