Avatar m tn Influenza viruses can cause a common cold or flu, leading a healthy individual to take a few days or a week off work. However, the flu can exacerbate existing health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, heart disease, and inflammatory disorders, leading to severe complications for individuals over 65 with a weakened immune system.
Avatar f tn What I'm finding with this, there is no slam dunk. Just when you think you have one, someone else will deny any connections between your positive test results and the symptoms you're having, regardless of whether or not you've met the McDonald criteria. But I have had the ear fullness checked. This was something I experienced frequently after a case of pneumonia. It was years ago. It doesn't happen anymore, but at the time my ear was filling up with fluid.
Avatar f tn I have been sick since Thanksgiving 2015 and off work sick and on disability since December 23rd. Started with sinus and double ear infection. Doctor gave antibiotics but it came back. Avatar f tn So now im on keflex, zithromax, albuterol, zofran, tums, cough drops, robitussin dm, and got a shot of rocefin in the arse. How does an ear infection turn into pneumonia? ??? I had them several times last year starting this time of year and always needed the super strength prescription with steroids. Because I'm pregnant, my doc is afraid to prescribe anything other than amoxicillin, but my ears have gotten so much worse. Has anyone been able to take anything different?

Avatar n tn Do a valsalva maneuver (Done by taking a deep breath and blowing while pinching your nostrils and closing your mouth) to relieve pressure from internal ear and blocked Eustachian tube (tube connecting ear to throat). Relieving this pressure may relieve some symptoms. I would strongly recommend you to consult an ENT specialist. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Take care!
1170277 tn?1412274753 I went back to urgent care and the same doctor told me that I now had acute bronchitis. He said there was some fluid in my lungs and that I had pre-pneumonia symptoms. He then put me on albuterol (inhaler), levofloxacin, prednisone, and promethazine-codine (cough syrup). The symptoms seemed to die down and I was feeling a lot better. Went back to work (last Friday) and I was fine.. Just tired.
Avatar m tn so the grasses are dead part of the year). They have diagnosed her with pneumonia and found a shady spot on her lung (our vet thinks this may be scar tissue from a previous bout of pneumonia). We got her from a shelter (a stray), so we do not know her background. Any suggestions on holistic remedies I can try, or other recommendations of what to consider? She also has frequent infections in one ear. Thank you!!

Avatar m tn d feel this pain in one ear, and it would shoot rapidly over to the other ear. It wa the pneumonia, and something about how much oxygen was not getting into my brain. So, have a doc check your heart, maybe even run a 24 or 48-hour EKG tape, or measure the level of oxygen in your blood. Oh, an the headaches I got, they were very light, but all over my head, and I NEVER get headaches.
Avatar f tn first off I am a hypochondriac, and often googling symptoms. My recent problem started about one month ago with a runny nose and ear ache. I then noticed a lump feeling in my throat. I went to my gastroenterologist who said it may be a spasm, BUT he didnt stop there and mentioned that we should do a barrium swallow to rule out cancer. I got the barrium swallow and it was normal.. It didnt show acid reflux or the small hiatal hernia that a previous endoscopy had shown.
Avatar f tn Your doctor will need to investigate you for multiple sclerosis where the disease phase is characterized by active phase and remissions. It has multiple symptoms and signs and is a diagnosis of exclusion. The symptoms of multiple sclerosis are loss of balance, muscle spasms, numbness in any area, problems with walking and coordination, tremors in one or more arms and legs.
Avatar f tn About 3-4 weeks prior to leaving his house, I developed flu-like symptoms. All of the symptoms passed within a timely manner, aside from swollen lymph nodes in my neck. I went to see my doctor where she did blood work. I was tested for mono, white blood cell count, etc. all tests we're fine. However, she mentioned the possibility of a cystic disease due to some lumps in my breasts and the fact that my caffeine intake is pathetic.
Avatar f tn Hi Odette72, If you were never treated for Scarlet fever you can get long term complications from it like Rheumatic fever or kidney problems. Also, fever, pneumonia, throat abscesses, ear infections and skin infections. Most people don't get the complications but it can happen and that is why they treat this with antibiotics early on. Maybe you can see an infectious disease doctor. Do you have any problems with your kidneys or heart? If not that hopefully you will be okay.
Avatar n tn (Most HIV infected people who get pneumonia have been seriously ill for several months before pneumonia appears. Pneumonia out of the blue does not suggest HIV.) The "vaginal infections", diarrhea, gingivitis, sinusitis, and your self-diagnosis of enlarged lymph nodes probably are meaningless as well. As to your comment below, whenever a person suspects his or her own symptoms are due to anxiety, s/he usually is correct.
1359256 tn?1277542857 I have bronchiltis or the start of pneumonia, the only improvement since yesterday is that my voice is starting to come back, I still feel the pressure on my chest when doing things. Should I go back?
Avatar f tn I tested pos for chlamydophila C pneumonia. Yes I had most of the symptoms you described plus lots of cysts over the decades. I also have the Igenex (lyme) testing showing # 31 which is staph aureus gram neg kind and # 34 which is the pneumonia. They go together. I had t go to a LLMD because traditional doctors do not care nor test with the right tests. yes being always cold is the real indication to have a chronic infection. Yes it is passed from person to person as it is contagious.
Avatar f tn Often I will get a bad cold as well, which has several times become pneumonia. (I had my first bout of viral pneumonia at age nine, in both lungs) For years I would wake up with intense pain in my right ear and would often notice that the ear had been weeping while I slept, as there was a dried crust around the outer ear canal in the morning.
1100598 tn?1413127426 In October, I developed an upper respiratory infection that caused swollen lymph nodes in my neck and an ear infection/sore throat, and later on a cough. The cough has hung on since then. I have had two chest x-rays, which have come back negative. My doctor put me on a course of prednisone, which did nothing. The cough brings up a foaming white phlegm, and sometimes causes heart palpitations.
Avatar f tn t enough thyroid hormone in the cells, these cells are unable to fight off infections from viruses and bacteria, especially those that attack the respiratory system and the urinary tract. Some of these infections are pneumonia, tonsillitis, middle ear infections, bladder infections, and sore throat. It would be very rare indeed for a healthy person to "catch" pneumonia. I would also recommend testing your vitamin D levels.
Avatar m tn When your cd4 falls below 200. You wouldn't have PCP within 45 days of infection.
242516 tn?1368223905 The flu has passed epidemic rates in much of the country, and if you don't have a cold, I'm sure you have a friend who has the sniffles, fever, chills, aches and pains of a viral upper respiratory infection. This is different from a bacterial infection such as sinusitis, bronchitis, or pneumonia. A viral infection doesn't improve with antibiotics as these infections do. A virus hijacks your own body's healthy cells and uses it to reproduce and spread.
