Avatar f tn Breathless and coughing symptoms can be due to your nodular problems or other airway diseases...
Avatar n tn and a lack of air movement in my lower left lung. She diagnosed me with community acquired pneumonia. I was prescribed Robitussin with codeine to help me sleep, although all it really did was tire me slightly. After another week of feeling completely miserable I started to breath better, my nose dried out, and my cough produced less and less green mucus. Sleeping then was hard, but I was able to take my meds, settle down, sleep for about two hours, wake up again from coughing and repeat.
Avatar n tn My 2 year old had pneumonia 3 months ago and made a full recovery after heavy duty antibiotics... a week ago he developed a cough that had him coughing about three times in a row every 4 or 5 hours. About 3 days ago he started coughing at night. He would wake up about midnight cough 3 or 4 times hard and repeat about every three hours. Last night he coughed about every 1 to 2 hours and coughed so hard he almost threw up several times.
Avatar f tn Are there other co-morbid medical conditions present? Pneumonia usually responds well to antibiotics. If the symptoms persist despite the prescribed medications, a repeat chest x-ray or imaging studies may help determine if the infection is still present. Other considerations to be ruled out include allergic issues as well. Take care and do keep us posted.

Avatar m tn t been too concerned, since her whole school has had the same thing, and I know coughing in kids (and adults) can last for weeks. Still, it was a bad bout of coughing. The coughing fit came on about 10 minutes after eating the candy and followed a burst of energy (lots of running and jumping on the bed) and lasted 5-10 minutes. At no point did she have trouble breathing, although she sounded a little winded afterward, and her voice was small and raspy.
Avatar m tn m allergic to penicillin), and told me to take tylenol four times a day. My symptoms leading up to this were dry cough, wheezing, and coughing fits so violent it set off my gag reflex and it has hard to breath. From the violent coughing my ribs were killing me (i had to hold my ribs every time i coughed) and my throat was killing me. As the days progressed it got worse and I was getting no sleep from coughing all night so I went to the doc.
Avatar f tn I had chest X-ray last week which confirmed pneumonia. I had told dr I had been coughing up blood for several days and they asked if it was streaked and I said yes. I saw a description on a web page using the description of looking like a partially scrambled egg and that is what it really looked like, not really streaked but kind of mixed. Now I have been on 500 mg Cipro for 4 of 7 days prescribed but still am coughing up same type of blood mixture.
Avatar f tn Pneumonia is funky and doesn't always follow the classic path. My younger son had pneumonia and I had no idea because he wasn't coughing. He had fevers. On and off fevers. One day fever, stay home from school, fine. Then back to school, another phone call from school that he had a fever. Stay home the next day. Then back to school and ANOTHER call that he had a fever! That's when I took him to the doctors and he was diagnosed with pneumonia. No cough!!
Avatar f tn I had an elevated D-dimer but all other labs were ok so had CT scan which showed rll pneumonia. I had not symptoms at all. No fever, no cough, no abnormal labs (except the elevated d-dimer). I had a zpack and then another CT scan after 2 weeks. The pneumonia was still there and then there was also a small nodule. Then in June I started having expiratory rales that I could hear and more shortness of breath on exertion. I was given Pro Air and another zpack.

Avatar f tn These past two day I have experienced heavy chest pains, shortness of breathe, fatigue, and lots of coughing/ coughing up yellow mucus. I have had bronchiactesis since I was 6. I also have had 99.2 F fever, today. should I see a doctor to know what it is or will it just go away in time?
Avatar f tn I had double pneumonia last year. Three different specialist could not find the cause and finally a cardiologist diagnosed it after a heart CT. Had pneumonia again in April this year and again, all tests and x-ray negative, but classic pneumonia symptoms are there. It's now a month later and already finished a course of levofloxacin (allergic to penicillin) took last 1000mg on Saturday and it's 24h later and have yo use nebulizer again. Any ideas on which path to go doen next?
Avatar n tn iam just geting over pneumonia and i have started getting joint pain.
Avatar m tn cough, fever, chills, shortness of breath and sharp or stabbing pain. You need to drink plenty of fluids, Rest, and keep any fever you may have under control. It's also possible that you have pulled a muscle from coughing. If this is the case then it should heal within a week or so after the coughing stops. Probably not what you want to hear but you still need medical treatment.
Avatar f tn Also, shortness of breath. Did you have any of these symptoms when they found that you had pneumonia on the CT? Obviously if you have a fever see your doctor. Or see him if you feel that it could be pneumonia. Other things you could try if you don't have a fever and you think it is a virus, is to steam yourself in the shower and/or with a bowl of hot water and breath in the steam to make yourself cough and break up any tightness in the lungs.
Avatar n tn Hi, I'm 21 years old, male at around 65 kgs. My girlfriend is of the age (more on this later) I just have a few questions regarding pneumonia, and how easily (or difficult) it is transmitted in healthy young adults. Context: My girlfriend's aunt recently got hospitalized due to pneumonia, and my girlfriend has been taking care of her for about 3 days now. Now this may sound stupid and selfish, but my concern is her and me catching pneumonia too.
Avatar n tn My 7 yr old son coughing while eating anything solid food.he is having this problem for the last 10 months. no cough with liquids or soft food. the doctors say they cant find anything abnormal, including ENT.they said it could be allergy.sometimes he coughs while sleeping also. and gets cold and cough every 2 months specially when he goes to school. im worried about the cough while eating. is it allergy or gastric acid reflux? how to diagnose gastrid acid reflux disease?thanks.
1321692 tn?1304298071 It last between two to three weeks and worsens at night. I started to get it after I had a bad case of the pneumonia in the fourth grade. I am now 19. I know that whopping cough is more common in children, but to me it sounds more like whopping cough than the pneumonia and bronchitis that I have been diagnosed with. Does it sound like pneumonia, bronchitis, whopping cough, or something else? Thank you for your help.
Avatar n tn My cat recently was spayed. Next morning she was coughing (like hairball cough). No fever. Not eating. She was put on pencillin. She is still coughing 3 days later and is barely eating. Could she have aspiration pneumonia and was this caused by the anesthesia? Should I worry?
Avatar m tn If that is correct, the course of your illness is consistent with what is called, Community Acquired Pneumonia (CAP -- pneumonia acquired when not hospitalized). There are many causes of pneumonia (bacteria, fungi, viruses, chemical or organic irritants) and, even with extensive bacteriologic testing the specific cause is often not determined. The information you have provided, including the imaging studies (X-ray and CT) provides no clues as to the cause of your pneumonia.
Avatar m tn Long term coughing with no other symptoms could be a sign of pneumonia. Though pneumonia often has other symptoms, its not uncommon to have only a cough. I would recommend going to a doctor or urgent care to get antibacterial medicine if that is the case. Pneumonia is not something to treat likely. Of course it is also possible you just have some sort of virus, but since its been a month now I think its to the point of getting it checked. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.
Avatar m tn YOu could easily have a lung infection of sorts. You need to see a doctor who will examine you properly and order appropriate tests if necessary especially because you are running temps and having colored sputum. Maybe you need antibiotics. I hope you feel better soon.
