Avatar f tn I'm sure it's just a follow-up to see if the infection is still there or has gone away. I've had several during my current bout of pneumonia, before an after each round of antibiotics. But stay in touch with your doctor if the symptoms get worse.
Avatar f tn A1C normal as well. my symptoms have become more progressive over last 6 months. i had pneumonia in 2009 with radiologists declaring after several cts, bone scans that i possibly had metastatic cancer or possibly "myelo -something leukemia". after 9 months of testing nothing showed up. i continue to be followed every 6 months by oncology. could this possibly be some form of leukemia. i feel something is off.
7900821 tn?1395192104 Lung cancer can predispose one to pneumonia but in that case the pneumonia would recur in the same place in your lung each time. In addition it is quite unlikely that the radiologist would mistake lung cancer for pneumonia. That still leaves the question of why you should have recurrent pneumonia, unanswered and that is a question that will require further investigation.
Avatar n tn Took Buddy to a different vet. Turns out it's not pneumonia. He has lung cancer.
Avatar m tn I have all the symptoms of pneumonia. The xray came back as either pneumonia or lung cancer. Small mass found on lower left lung. Treating me for pneumonia. The doc says she thinks its an autoimmune disease, a blood production disease or cancer.

Avatar n tn The doctor was unconcerned but after I returned complaining of the original symptoms I was given another course of antibiotics. In August I had another xray and the conclusion was clear lungs. Three doctor when listening to my chest have said it sounds clear.
Avatar f tn Left arm pain with shortness of breath and left shoulder pain can be due to a wide range of problems. Since you listed "cancer" as one of your current medications, I wonder if you're trying to say that you currently have cancer, or that you're worried that these symptoms could be due to cancer. It's important to ask your doctor about these possibilities: muscle strain, bursitis, rib strain, pleurisy, pneumonia, and less likely but possible: heart problems.
Avatar f tn Also, shortness of breath. Did you have any of these symptoms when they found that you had pneumonia on the CT? Obviously if you have a fever see your doctor. Or see him if you feel that it could be pneumonia. Other things you could try if you don't have a fever and you think it is a virus, is to steam yourself in the shower and/or with a bowl of hot water and breath in the steam to make yourself cough and break up any tightness in the lungs.

Avatar m tn It could be treatment resistance as develops in certain types of pneumonia or tuberculosis, but it can also be cancer (especially since you were a smoker until recently). This does not mean that you have cancer, but it is your doctor’s duty to rule out this possibility if the lung opacity does not resolve. Hope this helps. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.

146298 tn?1258712247 Hi, One of the difficulties in the fight against lung cancer is the absence of any specific alarm symptom. All of the symptoms that you mentioned may be symptoms of cancer. Your condition seems to be chronic and relapsing, perhaps a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) which would be characterized by periods of exacerbations and periods of relative improvement. Cancer tends to be progressive, without a return to baseline.

Avatar n tn ” “Performing a chest x-ray is the first step if a patient reports symptoms that may be suggestive of lung cancer. This may reveal an obvious mass, widening of the mediastinum (suggestive of spread to lymph nodes there), atelectasis (collapse), consolidation (pneumonia), or pleural effusion. If there are no x-ray findings but the suspicion is high (such as a heavy smoker with blood-stained sputum), bronchoscopy and/or a CT scan may provide the necessary information.
Avatar n tn Every other year for 15 years I would have either pneumonia or bronchitis. I would be given antibiotics for relief. I had always been sensitive to temperature or weather changes. Whenever I sweat, if the sweat dried up on my back, I would easily develop a sore cough or cold. In 2001 a CT scan revealed a 12 mm-nodule. My doctor told me I had nasal drippings; he gave me a nose spray.
