Common Questions and Answers about Pneumonia research

pneumonia

Avatar f tn How are they diagnosing the pneumonia? By sound or by x-ray? My best advice is to research, research, research, and look into every possibility. Sometimes doctors don't think outside the box because they are so busy. Also, you should check out the parent-2-parent website. Very knowledgable parents over there, of medically complex children....and some medical mysteries as well. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I had the same situation before but just a pneumonia bilateral not covid pneumonia. Are you feeling fine now? Based on my research on pneumonia, the person having it usually recovers for about 6 months. That is totally normal coz you're still on process of healing your lungs and our body is recovering from the illness due to pneumonia. Until now I am having the urge of taking deep breaths and still working on it until my breathing is normal.
Avatar f tn So now im on keflex, zithromax, albuterol, zofran, tums, cough drops, robitussin dm, and got a shot of rocefin in the arse. How does an ear infection turn into pneumonia? ??? I didn't even know that was possible! And my doc says taking all these meds is safe but that seems like an awful lot to me.
Avatar f tn Has anyone with CFS had the pneumonia vaccine Pneumo 23 and what was your experience of it?
Avatar m tn I also recently suffered from the same problem. From whatever research i have done it seems to be caused by ALLERGIC REACTION.
Avatar n tn The thing that concerns me with walking pneumonia is that for normal, healthy people to contract pneumonia, a virus infection is usually already present in the body that triggers the pneumonia. When I was told this, I automatically convinced myself that HIV was what triggered the illness. Can the presence of HIV disable the immune system in this degree so early into the infection. I don't want you to think I am questioning your knowledge, but these are questions I've had for awhile.
Avatar f tn I certainly will research more before I agree to allergy shots. It puts the shingles and pneumonia vaccines in a different light also. I wonder if the flu shot in the fall would have made me so sick in December. That's about two months after the shot. There's so much more I need to know. Thanks again!
Avatar m tn He was diagnosed with HIV, and Pneumocystis pneumonia having caught both diseases while on the job. I did some research on PCP and see that mainly AIDS patients have this disease. Both of my parents died of HIV after I was first born. My dad caught HIV through blood transfusion before blood was tested, he first had leukemia. I was told that I did not have HIV or AIDS and had nothing to worry about. I even did an anonymous at home HIV test last year as I was curious.
Avatar n tn I have COPD and bullous emphysema. I have had pneumonia for several months. I have done levaquin, then 20 days of cefepime IV 3 times a day. I cleared up substantially. I am now taking an antibiotic called bactrim. I seems to be still hanging around, ie coughing up the yellow/light green sputum and tired. No temperature. Is the pneumonia ever going to go away?
Avatar m tn The x-ray came back normal except the doctor stated in his findings that my interstitium was slightly coarse for my age. What does that mean? I tried doing research about it and all I could find was information about Pulmonary Fibrosis and Hypersensitivity Pneumonia. I am starting to get a little concerned. Any information would be helpful.
Avatar f tn s a 5 day antibiotic, that works well, for whooping cough and pneumonia~ people who have had pneumonia once, tend to get it again. I actaully went out, and had a DPT booster, last year, as I am in fear of Whooping Cough, which has made a reappearance.
Avatar f tn Yes you can.I have it right now from the powdered litter in the air. My Dr.is sure of it, because of the test results.
10219953 tn?1426171839 Why is it that science and medicine research so much on synthetic chemicals and such yet all these natural items: primerose, cinnamon, aloe era,cumin,etc.... That many of us read on pregnancy website for induction for example haven't been researched the heck out of them? There's so many natural item that by now and how technology is and our advanced medicine that we don't know all about them.
Avatar f tn Greetings doctor I am actually doing a research paper on HIV for school and with so much info online from one end of the spectrum to the other I figure I would ask a specialist directly a few questions so here it goes... 1-with testing now a days would you consider 6-8 weeks conclusive? 2-do you believe rapid tests are just as reliable as lab based? 3-do you feel oral rapid tests are just as good as blood? 4-what are the most common symptoms you see with onset of HIV?
1225178 tn?1318980604 I know somebody posted where to go to find out about the research that is going on, and what clinical trials we may be able to get into... but my brain isn't working today and I can't find the post. Somebody please give me that web site. I'd really appreciate it.
467579 tn?1289402969 Gene therapy has potential, not to recreate lung tissue but to reduce the airway inflammation that results in emphysema, be it smoking-induced or other. Research is underway on gene therapy but the results thus far have been very disappointing. The adaptation to chronic residence at high altitude has been studied extensively. You are correct in stating that bigger lungs have nothing to do with it and that has been well known for nearly 100 years.
Avatar f tn is there a research group one could participate with, study and analyze past, present and future findidngs/options? i have been outbreak free for years and am almost certain i recently had my first outbreak in january - and they won't stop. i think the following has provoked the virus, as well as disable the latency stage: a. i took a strong proton pump inhibitor in january for my gerd - within a week i had a broken tail bone and rash of blisters across the bottom of my back.
Avatar f tn I am now 31 weeks pregnant and this morning, I was exposed to a person who has pneumonia. I went to her one-bedroom apartment and stayed at her bedroom for about half an hour. I came back to my office and did research, which tells me that if the person did not cough, it's probably okay. I don't think the person coughed while I was there but naturally, I am worried...Does anyone know anything about this? Should I call my OB and ask for a nurse to speak about this?
Avatar m tn I was treated with levaquin for community acquired pneumonia for a little more than a month (horrible side effects), I was in the hospital 3 times, for 5 days in two of them (the second one was a relapse) and only ER the third one. What is unnusual for me is that the last hospital diagnosed me acute bronchitis and the other ones pneumonia,(the gap between the 2nd and the third hospital was 2 weeks, is this logical???).
