He is facing jejunostomy in the very near future. We are told that later, fundoplication may be great help to him. Has anyone had or heard of side effects from this for a patient with jejunostomy? Business woman2 I try to walk every day, but be out of breath after 1 block. Recovery be for awhile, cos I have 7 more blockages.
Avatar n tn Look into the HCG diet. It may help you achieve your weight loss goal. You can read about it at http://www.thebesthcgsource.
Avatar n tn A year and 1/2 of poor eating habits and large weight loss could definitely cause hair loss. Hair loss can be due to low protein. Even though you have been trying to improve your eating habits for 6 months, a lot of damage has already been done and how you're eating now may not be targeting what your body needs. Have you had recent blood panels to determine any nutritional deficients? Have you seen a registered dietitian to direct you in your nutritional needs?
1733547 tn?1310332865 I am looking for ANY advise on helping my heart recover from congestive heart failure. It was brought on by a severe infection (believed to be a pneumonia infection). I was put into an induced coma for 9 days while the infection ran it's course and I'm thankful to God for bringing me back to life (my wife was told more than once to prepare for my leaving this world). My recovery has been miraculous - I broke every time line laid before me.
Avatar m tn as such this is accompanied by weight loss. So, record her temperatures, on a two hourly basis to detect an evening rise of temperature. Please check with your doctor to rule out this condition. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn He asked if I was sick before the pneumonia diagnosis and the answer is yes. I have had a lot of breathing problems, weight loss, bone pain, shrinking in height, weakness, and stomach problems also. I have also taken a ct scan and I am waiting on the results. Should I be worried and what other test can I ask for or specialitst should I see? I am currently seeing a lung specialist and ENT(for polyps and nasal blockage)Please give me some direction and questions that I should be asking!!!
Avatar f tn I had the same situation before but just a pneumonia bilateral not covid pneumonia. Are you feeling fine now? Based on my research on pneumonia, the person having it usually recovers for about 6 months. That is totally normal coz you're still on process of healing your lungs and our body is recovering from the illness due to pneumonia. Until now I am having the urge of taking deep breaths and still working on it until my breathing is normal.
Avatar n tn Tuberculosis can cause an evening rise of temperature and increased sweating. This also causes a loss of appetite; as such this is accompanied by weight loss. So, record his temperatures, on a two hourly basis to detect an evening rise of temperature. Also, the blood counts will show a raised ESR and increased lymphocytes. So, keep monitoring and you can post any further queries you have, will be glad to answer. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Will a patient see significant improvement on their PFT test after taking medication for a period of time. This was my orginal PFT test three weeks after having pneumonia and the second set of tests were performed two months afterwards. Do most people with COPD see this much of an improvement on their later PFT results or is there a possibility that maybe what I have is more asthma seen COPD? These were the results of my first test FVC ref 3.51 pre 2.74 78% post 3.

Avatar m tn There are distinct signs with most babies if they have heart failure. Things like, loss of appetite, weight loss, pale in colour, fast breathing and wheezing, lots of sweating. They are not particularly happy babies either, they are very irritable. I assume your daughter is starting to put on weight now? My advice would be not to look at percentages for survival, every patient is different and nobody knows which percentage you are in.
Avatar m tn continued abdominal inflammation along with fever, loss of appetite, weight loss (6lbs in 3 weeks), lasting 5 days *Std-panel js all (-) * I'm going to get tested today but just wanted an insight before I head down to my doctor.
Avatar m tn On June 5 I had X-rays and blood work done due to my back to back colds and flu for the last three months.  I have also had significant weight loss.  I had just chalked it all up to a low immune system caused by stress.  I was given a strong antibiotic and Ventolin (usually take Symbacort when I have a chest infection) and these seem to have helped clear up my diagnosis of pneumonia.
Avatar n tn Some signs and symptoms of swallowing difficulties include difficulty controlling food in the mouth, inability to control food or saliva in the mouth, difficulty initiating a swallow, coughing, choking, frequent pneumonia, unexplained weight loss, gurgly or wet voice after swallowing, nasal regurgitation, and dysphagia (patient complaint of swallowing difficulty). When asked where the food is getting stuck patients will often point to the cervical (neck) region as the site of the obstruction.
Avatar f tn My symptoms are extreme fatigue, weight loss (about 12 pounds), difficulty breathing, and bruising very easily. I just checked out of the hospital yesterday, where I was admitted for pneumonia and a high WBC count. When I checked out, I was told my WBC is still too high, and that I'll need to get it checked soon. I'm becoming concerned because even though I left the hospital, I am still incredibly weak and don't have the energy to do anything or go anywhere.
Avatar f tn I now have anxiety, diarreah that has lasted over 2 weeks now, (no matter what I eat), loss of appetite, weight loss, night sweats, issues with my asthma where my regular meds are no longer working, shortness of breathe, just to name a few. Is their any possible way in the world that I had a false negative result. I had the test taken when I got pregnant, so I was 3 months into the pregnancy when they did the test.
Avatar n tn When a person develops active TB disease, the symptoms (such as cough, fever, night sweats, or weight loss) may be mild for many months. This can lead to delays in seeking care, and results in transmission of the bacteria to others. If her cough and fever persist she needs to see a medical provider. In the meantime make sure she stays well hydrated and gets plenty of rest. Take common sense precautions such as frequent handwashing to prevent the spread of the illness.
Avatar n tn t smoke, and have no symptoms such as fever, unexplained weight loss, coughing up blood, significant shortness of breath, it is very unlikely that your problem is being caused by anything serious, such as cancer. The fact that your chest sounds clear, a normal chest xray since the episode of pneumonia, and normal spirometry, are all things that make something significant in your lungs unlikely.
Avatar f tn I’m 29 yrs old and on meds for BP. Had a fatty liver till a couple of months backs but have lost some weight post that.
Avatar f tn Also have muscle twitching under skin. Am beginning to notice a loss of appetite and some weight loss. I know my left wrist is smaller than it was months ago; my shoes are also too big--I'm noticing some loss of "bulk" in my feet. Doctor wants to repeat the EMG for a 3rd time. Now have neurogenic bladder and must go to UVA for bladder study. Could this be Primary Lateral Sclerosis? If it were ALS, would my condition be even worse by now? Thank you for some insight.
Avatar f tn I am 59 with a history of lumbosacral arachnoiditis and Crohn's disease.Towards the end of last year I became aware of a buzzing feeling in my fingers and hands. This progresses to larger involuntary movements, but rather than a "jerk", it feels more like a very fast loss and recovery of power. At the beginning of July I had to have a transfusion of 3 units because of anaemia associated with my Crohn's disease.
Avatar f tn As halbashes said, it would be important to avoid anti-epileptic drugs that sometimes have the side-effect of weight loss or loss of appetite. There are others that tend to cause weight gain, though, such as Depakote (which is also used to prevent migraine headaches). A good neurologist should be able to choose the right drug with the right side effect profile. Obviously, weight gain and/or increased appetite would be desirable.
Avatar n tn for that because prolongation of nasea can cause weight loss in a bad way and shortness of breath may be anything from asthma, allergies or worse, pneumonia.
