pneumonia

Avatar f tn Hello, I'm Maria, 25 yrs old. I'm a new member here by the way. Just want to share my story on how my urge on taking deep breaths started. Last Aug.10 I was diagnosed with Pneumonia - bilateral and then I started my medication right away. On my first day my body was so ill, that I couldn't barely eat any foods like noodles.. I feel nauseous, dizzy, my nose were congested, my body aches and can't breathe properly.
Avatar m tn she listened from the middle of my back then listened to my left lung and said I had very minimal wheezing and that the pneumonia was gone and that I was in the recovery stage that involves coughing up the mucus and my body absorbing the mucus in my lungs. I never had a chest X-ray so I can't say for sure that the pneumonia was in my right lung BUT the painful spot that the previous doc identified that made him concerned was on the right and this doctor only listened to my left lung.
Avatar f tn I had the same situation before but just a pneumonia bilateral not covid pneumonia. Are you feeling fine now? Based on my research on pneumonia, the person having it usually recovers for about 6 months. That is totally normal coz you're still on process of healing your lungs and our body is recovering from the illness due to pneumonia. Until now I am having the urge of taking deep breaths and still working on it until my breathing is normal.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with pneumonia 6 weeks ago. I was on oral antibiotics for 2 days, then admitted with an IV drip for 3 days (levifloxacin, as I'm allergic to penicillin-based drugs) then given a 5 day course of oral clarithromyacin. I rested for 2 more weeks after finishing the antibiotics but was still coughing yellow mucus and feeling tired with moderate/mild activity.
Avatar f tn These past two day I have experienced heavy chest pains, shortness of breathe, fatigue, and lots of coughing/ coughing up yellow mucus. I have had bronchiactesis since I was 6. I also have had 99.2 F fever, today. should I see a doctor to know what it is or will it just go away in time?

Avatar f tn My husband had emergency bypass surgery four days ago and his heart is now OK but they say he's developed pneumonia. I'm EXTREMELY scared about this! What should he/we do? We are not in the States now so it's important I get good guidance to deal with this in a developing country. Any PARTICULAR drug he should take for this? What can I do for him? Help!
Avatar n tn The albuterol inhaler will break up the mucus. There are other asmthmatic meds you can use in the inhaler. The use of prednisone while you have an infection is controversial. I know they use it. The problem is that the prednisone sometimes makes the infections go out of control. Make sure you take vitamin D3. Use an expectorant and observe the color of the sputem. As long as it is yellowish you have an infection. Make a daily log of the color. Many physicians never ask to see the sputem.
Avatar n tn My fiance has pneumonia and pleurisy. The mucus has changed from yellow to frothy white or cream colored. Is this normal?
Avatar f tn I presume that you have not eaten anything that was dark in colour that could have discoloured the mucus. If you have not eaten anything that could make your mucus a dark colour (coffee, chocolate), it would be wise to get seen to by the doctor. In the meantime, make sure that you drink plenty of warm fluids (avoid milk whilst you have lots of mucus) and stay warm. Wrap a scarf around your mouth and nose so that you do not breathe in the cold air when you go outside.

The clinic doctor on campus gave me Azithromycin 250 MG tabs. I had to take two today and for the next four days will take one tablet. If I do have pneumonia or etc, would this antibiotic fight it? Avatar f tn Make sure you drink plenty of fluids. Water is best. As you have mucus, it is best to keep of milk products because it increases mucus formation. Your low grade fever as well as dehydration can give you headaches. So make sure you are well hydrated. For the congestion, you can try steam inhalations. A bowl of hot water with Vick or olbas oil and a towel over your head and breath in the steam. Take care not to get scaleded. Wishing you a speedy recovery Best wishes.

Avatar f tn Has anyone experienced really bad coughing during treatment? My boyfriend developed terrible coughing the first week of treatment. It's not a dry cough, he brings up copious amounts of flem/mucous. When he first started treatment, he noticed the coughing attack usually began about one hour after his ribavarin dose. This went on throughout his six month tx, some days worse than others.
Avatar n tn In general, the sooner a person can safely get up and moving around, the better--Helps maintain strength, prevent pneumonia, helps get the bowels moving regularly, improves circulation, etc. Good luck!

Avatar n tn and a lack of air movement in my lower left lung. She diagnosed me with community acquired pneumonia. I was prescribed Robitussin with codeine to help me sleep, although all it really did was tire me slightly. After another week of feeling completely miserable I started to breath better, my nose dried out, and my cough produced less and less green mucus. Sleeping then was hard, but I was able to take my meds, settle down, sleep for about two hours, wake up again from coughing and repeat.
Avatar f tn My step son has pneumonia and I'm 11 weeks and 5 days. I'm the only one home to take care of him today. He's only 4 years old so I bought masks and lysol, hand sanitizer and took vitamin C. I'm really worried I'm going to catch it. Is there anything else I should be doing to prevent it? Thanks.
Avatar n tn The pneumonia can cause inflammation well after the bacteria is gone. The inflammation can cause pain Another factor is the coughing and puking which can cause the muscles in between your ribs to become sore. It is important to monitor your temp to see for fever. What colour is the sputum that you are cough up. Is it yellow or green? Obviously if you are not sure or worried go back to the hospital. Are you short of breath?
