Common Questions and Answers about Pneumonia recovery kids

pneumonia

Avatar f tn I had the same situation before but just a pneumonia bilateral not covid pneumonia. Are you feeling fine now? Based on my research on pneumonia, the person having it usually recovers for about 6 months. That is totally normal coz you're still on process of healing your lungs and our body is recovering from the illness due to pneumonia. Until now I am having the urge of taking deep breaths and still working on it until my breathing is normal.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with bacterial pneumonia in the right lower lobe about four weeks ago. I had antibiotic treatment and an inhaler for ten days. I had another chest x-ray after the antibiotic treatment and my doctor said that my lung was looking much improved. The coughing has ended, but I still have not returned to my normal energy level. Also, when I wake in the morning, I usually have a feeling of discomfort in the right upper quadrant of my body.....just a vague aching.
Avatar f tn I had one treatment and caught a cold that many of you knew that I was fighting, well went to the hospital a couple days ago and found out that I had pneumonia. Absolutely unbelievable! The only reason I went was because my whole body hurt and I could not eat. I thought that it was a side effect of the chemo. I haven't worked in about three weeks, and my older kids are helping with the younger ones.
Avatar n tn I hope the kids didn't get pneumonia. Sometimes there isn't anything you can do and didn't do anything "wrong". One thing I can think of is to make sure whenever you go somewhere in the public to wash yours and the kids hands before you leave the public building so that any germs that they picked up are washed off before you leave. Another thing is that whenever you go to the doctor's office, don't let the kids play with the toys.
Avatar n tn In general, the sooner a person can safely get up and moving around, the better--Helps maintain strength, prevent pneumonia, helps get the bowels moving regularly, improves circulation, etc. Good luck!
Avatar n tn It showed pneumonia in the bottom of both lungs.. I took cipiro for 2 weeks...Felt better now Im coughing bad and coughing up yellow phelghm. New xrays showed nothing.Whats going on? And what kind of pneumiona lives in the bottom of the lungs? This discussion is related to Multiple Lung Nodules, Pneumonia, Sweats, Minor Atelectasis.
Avatar n tn To determine if pneumonia is still present, direct clinical examination is important together with diagnostic tests. Pneumonia caused by a virus infection usually resolve after couple of days and recovery may also be affected by various factors including the medical history of the patient. If it persists, it is best that you have this checked by your doctor. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn The episode of confusion, lack of comprehension, could have been related to your pneumonia; in some people, something like a pneumonia can really cause confusion, and this could have exacerbated your myoclonus as well. This is called medically a metabolic encephalopathy. I am not sure from your above report if the small vessel stroke on your MRI was acute (new) or old, but a small stroke can sometimes cause significant symptoms depending on its exact location.
Avatar f tn A few months ago, my mother was diagnosed with pneumonia. After a round of antibiotics and breathing treatments, she was pronounced well. Since being cured of the pneumonia, she developed diverticultis. This was quite a surprise. Mom is very healthy -- she is 70 and takes care of everyone else. She is very diligent about eating yogurt and taking her probiotics, often scolding others to do the same, especially while on antibiotics.
Avatar n tn Dear Doctor, I am a 36 year old asthmatic woman and I take 250 seretide evohaler 2 puffs twice daily. I got pneumonia 2 months ago (end of August) and I still feel tired, no energy. Do you think I would be strong enough for the swine flu (H1N1) vaccine, or should I wait until I have made a full recovery? Thanks.
Avatar n tn Will a patient see significant improvement on their PFT test after taking medication for a period of time. This was my orginal PFT test three weeks after having pneumonia and the second set of tests were performed two months afterwards. Do most people with COPD see this much of an improvement on their later PFT results or is there a possibility that maybe what I have is more asthma seen COPD? These were the results of my first test FVC ref 3.51 pre 2.74 78% post 3.
1733547 tn?1310332865 I am looking for ANY advise on helping my heart recover from congestive heart failure. It was brought on by a severe infection (believed to be a pneumonia infection). I was put into an induced coma for 9 days while the infection ran it's course and I'm thankful to God for bringing me back to life (my wife was told more than once to prepare for my leaving this world). My recovery has been miraculous - I broke every time line laid before me.
Avatar n tn He spent 10 days in the hospital and then went to a rehab facility. After 5 days he was sent back to the hospital with pneumonia. The doctor who admitted him to the hospital told me that his prognosis was very poor - she mentioned death and advised me to consult with the palliative care nurse. I am certainly not ready to give up on him yet! The pneumonia seems to already be clearing up, though I'm sure he will need to spend several days in the hospital.

Avatar m tn A related discussion, Pneumonia was started.
Avatar n tn It was repaired two days later. She suffered aspiration pneumonia and a UTI fungal infection in the hospital. She was finally transferred to a rehabiliation center after being in the hospital for 4 weeks. In the rehab center, they told us she now has MRSA pneumonia. What are her chances of overcoming all of this? She is on a trach and at times seems very coherent. How much longer do we let her endure all of this? She never says she's in pain or uncomfortable.
Avatar f tn Called my primary care doctor and he wants to see me tomorrow to see if I have pneumonia. I have asthma, and am prone to pneumonia. I had pneumonia in my first trimester with my first pregnancy, and lost the baby at the end of my 12th week. I'm kind of freaking out. Now that I'm in my 3rd trimester, I'm worried about preterm labor now (a lot of websites say it can happen with pneumonia). Any words of encouragement?
Avatar n tn However, a week later he presented with a high fever, wheezing, rattling sound when breathing and they diagnosed bacterial pneumonia. They gave him albuterol nebulizer treatments and zithromax. The next day we were back at the doctor and he had been experiencing severe coughing fits that led to vomiting and sweating, as well as clammy skin, and he was continuing to have a lot of wheezing sound in his lungs, despite the albuterol treatments.

Avatar m tn she listened from the middle of my back then listened to my left lung and said I had very minimal wheezing and that the pneumonia was gone and that I was in the recovery stage that involves coughing up the mucus and my body absorbing the mucus in my lungs. I never had a chest X-ray so I can't say for sure that the pneumonia was in my right lung BUT the painful spot that the previous doc identified that made him concerned was on the right and this doctor only listened to my left lung.
Avatar f tn Hi, Colleen is still in the hospital. She has pneumonia. She's hoping to go home soon, though. Overall, she is doing OK. She's sore and weak b/c she hasn't eaten. She said that the final pathology hasn't come back yet but everything looked OK during surgery (I'm assuming they did a path while she was in surgery). There was a hernia, which they repaired and a lot of adhesions from her previous surgery (she thinks). And, they did an abdominal hysto.
Avatar m tn We are, due to weakness and slow recovery from last episode of pneumonia, planning jejunostomy next week. Perhaps looking at fundoplication at a later date if needed.
Avatar m tn Pallyfan, I'm not a doctor but I'm a father who has been down your Dad's path. Since I was essentially in a blackout for 20 days what I know about my behavior before and after open heart surgery is second hand, but what I've been told bears resemblence to what you've observed. I was 54 then, fairly mild mannered but I behaved bizarrely and aggressively - throwing hospital trays, trying to call a cab to escape. Calling nurses ******.
