Buddy was diagnosed with pneumonia and has gone through a course of doggy antibiotics and 3 courses of human antibiotics. The right lung is full of fluid. He would get better, then be energetic and get worse. It was suggested that he may not have pneumonia but CHF. Is there anything to do to help him. The vet doesn't seem to have any suggestions. Would a diuretic help? He's starting to not eat now.
I disagree, but this is often the protocol. Have they prescribed an electrical albuterol inhaler, or any asthmatic meds? The albuterol inhaler will break up the mucus. There are other asmthmatic meds you can use in the inhaler. The use of prednisone while you have an infection is controversial. I know they use it. The problem is that the prednisone sometimes makes the infections go out of control. Make sure you take vitamin D3. Use an expectorant and observe the color of the sputem.
My question is are there any guidelines/protocol for stopping tx if your ALT/AST reaches 150 each even though you are UND? Mine have been consistently rising each week and today, week 25, my AST=130 and ALT=124. My Hepa Dr said we would have to stop tx if they both reach 150. I cannot find any information on this anywhere. So any help would be greatly appreciated!
Given your age, if the dr. makes a diagnosis of pneumonia you will be hospitalized for treatment (its standard protocol for anyone over 60), your also going to need to get a chest xray. In the mean time it's a good idea to take a break from smoking pot. Don't play games here, if you really do have s.pneumonia it can kill you.
You may get lucky and just have a case of chronic bronchitis but blood is typically not seen with that.
My dad has always gotten a pneumonia vaccine, but this year when he went to get one he was told he didn't need one because he was over 65. What's up with that? He turned 70 this year and hasn't ever been told that. Is this part of Obama's plan for healthcare?
My husband was diagnosed with pneumonia last week and not getting better so a CT was ordered. Results show substernal goiter on left due to pulmonary nodule inubsternal left lower pole of thyroid. Nodule measures 3.2x3cm in another area it is called a hypodense nodule and is measured at 3x3.7cm he is scheduled for ultrasound Thursday but I would like clarification on pulmonary nodule. I thought that was a lung nodule and don't understand it being in thyroid.
Is it protocol for a doctor to tell a cataract patient that the iol they will be putting in their eye does not focus at different depths like the natural lens does?
What symptoms do you have? Has a CT scan of the chest been done - the normal protocol is to get a CT scan before an MRI.
What kind of infection did your doctor tell you it was? A pneumonia or something else?
Were you prescribed any medications? Was a repeat chest xray done after a course of antibiotics?

Kidney failure/ pneumonia/ blockage of lung blood vessels (pulmonary embolism)/ pancreatitis. Test will be given in order to determine the underlying cause. Then a treatment protocol will be administered to treat the symptoms and to remove or reduce the fluid. There are a few other possibilities but the ones mentioned above are the most common. Try not to assume the worst. Doctor's have the ability and resources to do amazing things this day and time.

I was prescribed Robitussin with codeine to help me sleep, although all it really did was tire me slightly. After another week of feeling completely miserable I started to breath better, my nose dried out, and my cough produced less and less green mucus. Sleeping then was hard, but I was able to take my meds, settle down, sleep for about two hours, wake up again from coughing and repeat.

Could be allergies, yes once you have had pneumonia you will have scarring ..it wont affect you, check out online for environmental allergies .

I was feeling pretty bad coughing wheezing, bad chest pain. My friend and I diagnosed it as brochitis or pneumonia so I took 7 Levaquin, one a day for 7 days (had it in the house). Still felt bad after a week or so and went to my doctor who prescribed same Levaquin 500 mg for 7 days. My doctor ordered chest xrays and blood work. Blood work was just a little off she said not sure what was high or low as this was told to me over the phone.
It showed pneumonia in the bottom of both lungs.. I took cipiro for 2 weeks...Felt better now Im coughing bad and coughing up yellow phelghm. New xrays showed nothing.Whats going on? And what kind of pneumiona lives in the bottom of the lungs?
