Avatar f tn If pneumonia, is this a new pneumonia, a pneumonia condition caused by the flu virus itself, or standard pneumonia(s)? If a standard pneumonia, will a pneumonia shot five years ago give any protection, and/or would one now give any protection? Also, will Tamiflu from 2004 still work?
377012 tn?1283965435 18th ne started getting diarrhea, nasal congestion along with the other symptoms, last night he began vomiting and his cough sounds croupy....could this be from the flu shot or could it be pneumonia...any advice!!!!???????????
Avatar m tn Does it hurt when you breath or it is hard to breath? Those are signs of pneumonia as well and fever but fever is part of the flu too.Good to get it checked just in case.
Avatar f tn The flu (influenza) itself only lasts 10 to 14 days, but you may have developed a pneumonia on top of it. OR it was the flu but was another infection which likely has a severe bronchitis or pneumonia with it - like walking pneumonia. After a month of bringing up phlegm, you need to see a doctor and probably have a chest X-ray. Please be evaluated! You are on an MS Forum. Do you have MS also? If so, you are welcome to stay and be a part, but get seen by a doctor! 'Kay??
Avatar f tn t sound like the flu or Pneumonia. It sounds more like a pinched muscle somewhere. Did you have a headache or a migraine or do you suffer from those? do you have shortness of breath as well or just a tight and heavy chest?
Avatar f tn s test results, he stopped at the xray of his lungs and asked us if we saw the shadow on his lower right lobe. We told him that was from the flu/pneumonia he had 4 months earlier. Dr said, "Ok, that answers that" and moved on. Told his nurse to make a note to have another xray taken at a later date to see how it looked then. That note was made but no mention of why the shadow was there in the first place. Dec 6th the follow up xray was taken. Shadow still there.
Avatar n tn She was sooo sick. I had the same vaccines at the same time. the flu shot did not hurt at all. The pneumonia shot was sore (and I am not T1).
Avatar f tn / poor little gut
Avatar n tn Do you think I would be strong enough for the swine flu (H1N1) vaccine, or should I wait until I have made a full recovery? Thanks.
Avatar f tn My doctor asked, I have never gotten one so am not going to start now, but I have also never gotten the flu (the real flu). She did say it can be life threatening to the baby if I got it, then said but it can be life threatening to you too. I have never heard anything about it preventing any other diseases, I suppose if you actually got it and the baby got sick it could have some kind of adverse affect, but I have never had a doc say it can cause this or that if you don't.
Avatar f tn I was tested for the flu and I did no have it, Even the the lady that give me the updraft treament said she could here me whizz across the room that night, told me she had nevr heard such. The Dr at that ER just shook his head , what could he say? He is the one that told me that I had the pneumonia and did EXrays and there it was big as life in there. Its been my asthma all a long. If the people at the first ER had listen I wouldnt have this as bad as I do now, Im sure I would be well by now.
4250330 tn?1388621179 im not sure what it could be.. could you think of anything else i feel like i have the flu but im not really sure ive never had it before ... i have alot of stuff that is wrong with me like my back stomache head arms legs and of course my chest everytime i eat i can only take a few bites then quit and i havent really ate anything in like 3 days ?
Avatar m tn These complications can include dehydration, ear or sinus infections, and bacterial or viral pneumonia, which can fill the air sacs in the lungs with pus or fluid, making it difficult to breathe and depriving older patients of adequate oxygen. In some cases, pneumonia may be asymptomatic, but it is still contagious if it results from a bacterial or viral infection.
898849 tn?1241811271 How important is it to get the flu and/or pneumonia vaccine, being that I have heart failure. I just heard about the recent death in Washington where the individual had a heart condition, pneumonia and swine flu. I was recently diagnosed with CHF in January, so all this is still very new to me.
Avatar f tn My problem is I felt fine other than a productive cough prior to taking the mucinex so is this feeling from the mucinex or am i developing pneumonia? Has anyone who has taken mucinex while pregnant felt this way?? Sorry for the overly long question, thanks in advance for any advice. Oh and of course OB an Primary doc's office are both closed so i can't call until tomorrow. And Baby is still pretty active so I don't think it affected her.
Avatar n tn Coughing that is dry but sometimes brings up phlegm, chills, horrible body aches, NO fever, and sinus pain that I can feel in my teeth. Earlier in the week what began as a cold or sinus problem progressed into body chills, aches and a general malaise and feeling of having the flu. However, as lousy as I feel I dont have even a slight fever, though the body aches make me feel like I have 103. I got the H1N1 vaccine last April, 2010. Now its Jan 2011.
Avatar m tn For the over sixty crowd the flu shot and the pneumonia shot are probably a good idea. That being said the injections come in two varieties. The "multi-dose" vial, which is used by the drug stores and most hospitals (it contains mercury preservative), and the "single-dose" vial, which has a short shelf life, is much more expensive, and contains no preservative. I get the single-dose type, which is always a problem.
Avatar n tn Coughing is the bodies way of expelling extra mucus and if you suppress it, that is when it builds up and people get pneumonia or bronchitis or sinusitis (the secondary infections I was talking about). Does your daughter have a high fever?
518117 tn?1429276273 I never bother with the flu shots, but I did get the one for pneumonia. It's a one-timer. As for swine flu, what you don't hear in the news (because it doesn't sell ads) is that swine flue is less deadly than the usual flu, which isn't particularly deadly anyway. Reliable information on swine flu is available from the Centers for Disease Control. They offer a weekly bulletin. It will confirm what I say here.
1637739 tn?1371688706 Not the FluMist, but the inactivated particulate vaccine. It can not give you the flu. Flu kills people in the US every year and failing to get vaccinated reduces the "herd immunity.
Avatar f tn ) And as for the swine flu, so far it is less virulent than the ordinary flu. There have been more cases of flu this summer, but the same mortality rate. How do I know? I get bulletins from the Centers for Disease Control.
Avatar f tn t get walking pneumonia unless you are run down from the flu or something else. But since others have it you might have contracted it from them. Try to say away from the flu if you can. None of us are immune even with the vaccine. It has mutated from the strain in the vaccine. So I'm not going to buffets and I'm using those hand sanitizers and wiping down doors knobs etc.
Avatar n tn Unfortunately, pain related to the heart is not easily differentiated from chest pain or discomfort from respiratory, esophogeal, or the chest's skeletal configuration. Even if the pain does not return tha would not indicate there is no heart problem. The cause could be the heart muscle from viral infection, medication, etc. or it could be a spasm of the coronary artery that temporarily shut off circulation of oxygenated blood, etc. Worst case scenario. You should get an evaluation.
Avatar f tn Has anyone with CFS had the pneumonia vaccine Pneumo 23 and what was your experience of it?
5915818 tn?1377748240 Ive been sick with a headache, cough, sore throat, vomitting, the "runs" and runny nose for over three weeks and im seven months pregnant. I went to the doctor on Thursday and he basically didn't say anything about it. Its just getting worse and worse every day and it is even starting to keep me up at night.
1806721 tn?1554333407 Flu is easy to test for so if you have been to the doctor, they do a quick test and can tell you if it is the flu or not. The fact that the fever didn't come on immediately makes me think it probably isn't the flu though. Viruses can have fevers associated with them. And the thing about a virus is it has to run it's course. Fevers are uncomfortable but actually the bodies way of trying to recover. I like ibuprofen a little better for fever's and pain relief myself.
