Avatar f tn Hey y'all, I'm prone to getting acute and chronic sinusitis about 2-3 times a year. I'm never sure what really triggers it. Is it due to the tail end of a cold or due to allergies? Is it just an immune response? Any suggestions? I am always put on a Z-Pack and/or Prednisone to help me out, and it usually becomes better after a week or so ..
Avatar f tn How are they diagnosing the pneumonia? By sound or by x-ray? My best advice is to research, research, research, and look into every possibility. Sometimes doctors don't think outside the box because they are so busy. Also, you should check out the parent-2-parent website. Very knowledgable parents over there, of medically complex children....and some medical mysteries as well. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I either have sinusitis or M. Pneumoniae. The doctor says he's not sure. I have been taking Azithromycin for 4 days. I have gotten worse. Still have fever and have developed nasal congestion with yellow discharge. ENT gave me Spectracef. I read that Spectracef does not treat mychoplasma. So, is there an antibiotic that would treat both mychoplasma AND sinusitis incase I have one or both?
Avatar f tn ve mentioned I think your more likely dealing with a chronic or reoccurring bacteria infection, eg bacterium Mycopasma which causes an atypical pneumonia called Mycopasma pneumonia (sometimes called “walking pneumonia” and often has milder symptoms than “typical” pneumonia) and....
Avatar n tn (Most HIV infected people who get pneumonia have been seriously ill for several months before pneumonia appears. Pneumonia out of the blue does not suggest HIV.) The "vaginal infections", diarrhea, gingivitis, sinusitis, and your self-diagnosis of enlarged lymph nodes probably are meaningless as well. As to your comment below, whenever a person suspects his or her own symptoms are due to anxiety, s/he usually is correct.
Avatar f tn Lyme suppresses your immune system, so any infection like a cold or cough or flu etc lasts much longer when you have Lyme disease than when you don't. A common infection that some people with lyme disease get as a co.infection is called Chlamydia pneumonia. It doesn't give you a cough so I don't know why it is called pneumonia! IT had various symptoms, different ones in different people, but one of the things it very often gives is chronic sinusitis.
Avatar n tn After a week and a half I saw the doctor, was diagnosed with both sinusitis and bronchitis and it appeared my asthma was in control, this was a Friday. (I have had asthma my entire life and at the first signs of a sniffle and some tightness I immediately start a prednisone taper and Xopenex nebulizer). I was prescribed azithromycin and told to continue with my xopenex and prednisone. I also took cough syrup, sudafed and motrin.
Avatar n tn I have had a lung wheeze for over a year when laying down but only when I take a deep inhale. It changes side as to what side I am laying on or its in both lungs when I lay on my back and in chest when laying on stomach. I have had lung scope, ct scan, stomach scope, blood work and ear nose and throat scope. the only thing they say they can find is mild inflammation. What could be causing this! I am starting to freak out!
Avatar n tn sometimes colds and flu can lower your immunity and/or progress into bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis.....smoker? If you continue to feel yucky probably should see your doctor and let him know how your feeling.
503418 tn?1231098736 It can also lead to a skin rash (scarlet fever), sinusitis, pneumonia, and ear infections
1806721 tn?1554333407 This would include things like bronchitis, sinusitis or pneumonia, etc. There is also viral pneumonia that comes with fever. Complicated, right? What I'd do is see your doctor. That will put your concerns to rest and you don't have to wonder if it is anything serious. Urgent care works for this kind of thing too. Use lots of hand sanitizer/wash hands to keep those around you from getting sick. Come back and tell us how you are!
Avatar n tn At the ER, they found no congestive heart failure, high blood pressure, or pneumonia. Their diagnoses was Bronchitis and Sinusitis. My question is; even though nothing was found at the ER, it made me think of how I have been feeling for well over a year now, and I wonder if these are indeed possible symptoms (indicators) of having Congestive Heart Failure. These are the most prevalent symptoms I have: 1.
Avatar f tn Flu was wicked this year! It sounds like she is coming out of it. A temp of 95 would be something that I'd not worry about. If it goes lower than that, then call your doctor. But temperatures can be 1.5 degrees above or below normal and be perfectly normal. I'd also call your doctor if this temperature stays this low or if other symptoms start. Low temperature can be a sign of infection or sepsis, both of which can happen post flu. If you want to be sure, give her ped.
Avatar m tn That is great that she is improving. It could have been Mycoplasma or Chlamydia pneumoniae. Those "walking pneumonia" have a low grade fever and a cough and last for months. In which case certain antibiotics do help. They won't show up on regular culture. She would have had to ask for these or they can do molecular tests to see. They are eventually self limiiting so I hope either way she gets well soon.
Avatar n tn This is when bacteria does form in sinuses, lungs, ears, etc. This would be situations like sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, ear infections. With these types of secondary infections, you become worse in terms of how you feel. It usually is quite noticeable. Taking something like Mucinex helps prevent this as does drinking plenty of fluids. Hope you feel better soon.
242516 tn?1368223905 m sure you have a friend who has the sniffles, fever, chills, aches and pains of a viral upper respiratory infection. This is different from a bacterial infection such as sinusitis, bronchitis, or pneumonia. A viral infection doesn't improve with antibiotics as these infections do. A virus hijacks your own body's healthy cells and uses it to reproduce and spread. A bacteria is its own living cell and multiplies and spreads on its own and is easier to destroy in that process.
973741 tn?1342342773 It's here. My son's soccer team had four kids out last week due to 'it' (you know, sore throat, congestion, cough). Since viruses are the starting point to more serious things like the "itis's . . . sinusitis, bronchitis, well . . . and pneumonia . . . avoiding colds and viruses is really prudent. I have my 'ways. Let's share to see if we can come up with a good list!
Avatar f tn Hello, Chronic cough can be caused by cigarette smoking, asthma, GERD, allergic rhinitis and sinusitis causing PND, lung infections like bronchitis and pneumonia, tumors, sarcoidosis or other lung disease and medicines like ACE inhibitors used as antihypertensives. In your case, it can be due to allergies or lung causes like bronchitis. I suggest you to get an evaluation done from a chest physician.
Avatar n tn Rule out pneumonia. Etiology probably bacterial. These problems show up in summer after sleeping under a fan or an air conditioner and are persistant, the problem flaring and subsiding. The nasty little buggies become encapsulated in biofilms and like to live happily every after. It's time to rain on their parade with an airstrike. The general drill is an antibiotic, specifically zithromax 500 mg a day times three days. They sell in in a three capsule pack.
Avatar n tn Burning headache is most commonly the result of sinusitis or flu. The headache due to sinusitis is a constant burning headache which can travel to other parts of the head as well. I think your sinusitis is not completely cured. You can suggest to your ENT about the possibility of getting a CT scan or an MRI done as that will make things more clear. Only if sinusitis is ruled out do you need to see a neurologist to rule out brain tumors and brain growths as a cause of burning pain. Take care!
Avatar m tn So, have a doc check your heart, maybe even run a 24 or 48-hour EKG tape, or measure the level of oxygen in your blood. Oh, an the headaches I got, they were very light, but all over my head, and I NEVER get headaches.
