Common Questions and Answers about Pneumonia nursing treatment

pneumonia

Avatar n tn ve encountered a case in which a 5-day old puppy was brought in the clinic with hemoptysis, I concluded that it was aspiration pneumonia because the puppy was only been nursed by the owner... We immediately administered antibiotics and wasn't able to put on IV fluids due to the small size of the puppy, we tried administering oral fluids, but it doesn't work well.... after an hour, the puppy died and coughed a lot of blood....
Avatar n tn If you have a virus that resulted in pneumonia, while allopathic medicine has little in the way of anti-virals, there are plants that have anti-viral properties. Olive leaf and elderberry are two examples. Herb Pharm makes a tincture that helps with virus control. That being said, though, and assuming this is viral in nature, once you have pneumonia you have progressed significantly through the viral process already and the more important thing is clearing the lungs.
Avatar f tn t know yet, will be retested in Feb. I stopped tx after 8 months because I had pneumonia for 6 weeks and after that some kind of infection every month. Just could not take it any longer. Thought I'd bounce back right away and am really down and out that I still feel so bad.
Avatar m tn he barely talks, but can talk sometimes with few words. he also caught pneumonia of pseudomonas spp. which is very difficult to treat. he is also severly immunocompromised. he needs 24hr care such as ng tube feeding, diaper change, physiotherapy etc. he is 61 years old and has been bedridden for 5 months now. Currently he is in his native country but we are thinking of bringing him to USA for better treatment. He is a US citizen and has insurance here. he was out of USA while he got sick.

Avatar n tn Buddy was diagnosed with pneumonia and has gone through a course of doggy antibiotics and 3 courses of human antibiotics. The right lung is full of fluid. He would get better, then be energetic and get worse. It was suggested that he may not have pneumonia but CHF. Is there anything to do to help him. The vet doesn't seem to have any suggestions. Would a diuretic help? He's starting to not eat now.
Avatar n tn Hi bibban12, The thing about pneumonia is it's just a broad term for lung inflammation, and the air sacs filling up with fluid, but it isn't a specific diagnosis of what caused the pneumonia.
Avatar m tn I never took treatment it took a long time to heal by itself..it should be an infection..i had pneumonia once and I survived..it was the nasty short pain breath..
1609219 tn?1298104935 t take that since I was still nursing my 1 year old. Not sure why I kept coming down with walking pneumonia... it is highly contagious though, and if you're around a lot of children, you can get it pretty easily.
Avatar f tn My family and I are at a loss. My dad had his aortic valve replaced (elective/scheduled) on 12/15/22. The Dr. said he lost a lot of blood and they had trouble controlling his blood pressure during the surgery. He was never extubated after the surgery, never followed commands. They did a CT scan 4 days later, that's when it was discovered he had a stroke. Later that week he had a trach and g-tube put in.
Avatar f tn A friend of mine has a very bad wound on her lower leg. She is in a nursing home where they just decided to treat her wound in a bathtub with A-33 cleaner added to the water. Is this a usual (and/or) acceptable practice for wound care treatment? I thought you were suppose to go to great lenghts to keep A-33 off of your skin. Avatar f tn I know ed is right about this....you carry this, you don't get rid of it. It lies dormant in your system. Nursing homes are rampant with it. There was a time that Dr.'s weren't supposed to admit residents to nursing homes if they were carriers. Hospitals hardly ever test any more for it because it is so rampant. There is even crossover from the animal population. I know because my daughter, a Registered Vet Tech, got it from the animal surgical center where she works.
Avatar m tn My father is 79 years old, he was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia, upon exams they discovered he had a couple of arteries blocked. I think they said 40% blockage in one and not sure of the blockage in the other one, not sure what arteries are blocked. The cardiologist is recommending Bypass surgery, all the information I have read states that blockage of this type can usually be treated with medication.
Avatar m tn The question is whether I should continue the interferon treatment when I am fighting the pneumonia. Your kind advice is very much appreciated. Many thanks. I myself has also had bronchiectasis (at lingular) though the pneumonia this time is at right lobe.

He was walking with walker nov 2 2013 but nov 27 he got pneumonia and his heart got irregular. He had a critical troponin result that day. Now he has a half inch bed sore and he is kinda giving up. Dec 17 the rehab center suggested hospice plan ideas. Disappointing.
Avatar n tn Bacterial or viral lung infection can precipitate asthma with wheezing in a person genetically predisposed to asthma. Treatment of the presumed asthma, aside from treatment of the infectious pneumonia, is appropriate. So, this could be asthma, superimposed on pneumonia. Your son could have whooping cough, despite immunization against it. If his fever and sweating with clammy skin has subsided, it is probably a sign that the antibiotic therapy has been effective and the pneumonia is clearing.
1516809 tn?1345082764 Denied, cannot justify three days of treatment. I am not a doctor. I do not know every test and treatment that could have been done to keep him the three days or change the category of admission. Now we will never know for fear of the Medicare Audit. If the hospital cannot justify three days because they would not get paid, then he never should have been allowed into the hospital at all. I feel they should have turned him away.
Avatar n tn I recently had my puppy who was less than 2 years old pass away from aspiration pneumonia. I tried everything from antibiotics to oxygen therapy and nebulization treatment. Unfortunately, he just couldn't handle it and 3 days later he was gone. I've been thinking about it the last couple of months and trying to understand what aspiration pneumonia is and how it caused his death. The vet explained to me that aspiration pneumonia is an infection that can feel like a chemical burn.
Avatar m tn My 4 yr. old son was diagnosed with walking pneumonia after getting hives on his face 2 days in a row. At first we thought it was an allergy we couldn't put our finger on because he has an allergy to dairy and sesame. But he hadn't come in contact with either one. Once our pediatrician examined him she said the hives were from walking pneumonia. He is on the third day of antibiotics but hives are still appearing on his face. They go away within the hour without any treatment.

Avatar f tn My father had a brain stem stroke five days ago. The doctors told me it was very bad from the beginning. He had a blood clot and it is still there. We chose not to have a thrombectomy done to remove the clot because it had a 90 percent failure rate and seemed very risky...yet I wish we had done it. My father has very low response. He can hold our hands (firm grip) and moves his eyebrows when you say his name but that is about it. he is pretty much unconscious.
Avatar f tn you need to go to the Doctor and find out why you are having trouble taking a deep breath and then depending on what the diagnosis is that will depend on what treatment you receive For example of you have pneumonia then the treatment would be antibiotics and maybe other stuff life steroids and breathing treatments, I'm not saying that's what you have though the only way to know what is going on is to get checked out by your MD Hope you feel better soon
Avatar f tn Dear Pizmo9, Treatment for cancer can put you at increased risk for conditions such as pneumonia. The decision as to when to resume radiation therapy should be be made in consultation with your radiation oncologist who will advise based on your overall clinical condition.
