Avatar n tn Will a patient see significant improvement on their PFT test after taking medication for a period of time. This was my orginal PFT test three weeks after having pneumonia and the second set of tests were performed two months afterwards. Do most people with COPD see this much of an improvement on their later PFT results or is there a possibility that maybe what I have is more asthma seen COPD? These were the results of my first test FVC ref 3.51 pre 2.74 78% post 3.

Avatar f tn Walking pneumonia can take a lot out of you (especially since it sounds like this pneumonia has been fairly resistant). The pneumonia may resolve with the doxycycline, but it can still take you a few weeks to feel better. I suggest that you take you medication as prescribed, get plenty of rest, drink lots of fluids and give yourself some time to heal. When you finish your doxycycline, be sure to see your doctor again so that he/she can make sure that the pneumonia is gone. Good luck.
898849 tn?1241811271 I read a recent newstory that stated that Swine flu can be potentially more lethal in people with heart disease because medications used to reduce fluid build up in their lungs will fail to work as effectively if they catch the flu, also the stress of trying to fight off a fever can be too much for their hearts. Cardiologists are recommending that patients with heart disease be among the first to receive the Swine Flu vaccine.
Avatar f tn Pneumonia is funky and doesn't always follow the classic path. My younger son had pneumonia and I had no idea because he wasn't coughing. He had fevers. On and off fevers. One day fever, stay home from school, fine. Then back to school, another phone call from school that he had a fever. Stay home the next day. Then back to school and ANOTHER call that he had a fever! That's when I took him to the doctors and he was diagnosed with pneumonia. No cough!!
Avatar m tn I have all the symptoms of pneumonia. The xray came back as either pneumonia or lung cancer. Small mass found on lower left lung. Treating me for pneumonia. I will have repeat xray possible cat scan. Asking in advance. How often is this found? Can pneumonia look like lung cancer? Day two of medication and I do feel better and fever broke. I still have pains from my cough and still expereince the sweaty, hot and cold bouts but feel better despite general aches and pains.
1353681 tn?1387083733 ( I do feel mucous now, after a week, but also noticed a couple mins of wheezing with it earlier. It has not come in several hours since then, but someone said wheezing is a symptom of pneumonia. I don't have any other symptoms of pneumonia though, like fever, sweats, or chills. Is it possible an upper respiratory infection can have wheezing sometimes too and it is NOT pneumonia?
Avatar n tn Coby has never been a sick child besides common colds and coughs, etc once in a while. In Oct. 2010 he was hosptialized with pneumonia for 3nights. I am concerned that maybe something is going on from the different medication from them and now, harming his organs? no good bacteria let? These pains sometimes have him teary eyed. He is not a complainer either, that what worries me. What should we be checking?
Avatar n tn We went to the doctor about 2 weeks ago and I was told that she had a small touch of pneumonia. We started her on medication and went back for our follow up today. She is still consistently running fever each afternoon and very tired and coughing but still doesn't act like she feels bad. The dr today did another xray and said that despite being on meds her pneumonia has gotten considerably worse.
Avatar f tn Therapy lies in treating the underlying cause and pain killers. You can take OTC Ibuprofen pain medication. Ensure to take this medication after food to avoid gastritis. In resistant cases not responding to medications surgical therapy is recommended. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn I was recently taken to the hospital because my lungs were filling with water and phlegm. At that time, they said it was Pneumonia. But I had to go back a second time, and this time, they said my lungs were filling with water and phlegm, and my heart was enlarged. Now, they said the water in my lungs has nothing to do with pneumonia but is caused by my heart being enlarged. According to my latest X-Ray results, I have Cardiomegaly, left ventricular form.
Avatar f tn ve been fighting pneumonia for weeks now and not one doctor will give me medicine because I am pregnant; they told me, that me being 19 rest and lots of fluids should get me better; but the fact that I had pneumonia last year and almost died because of a weak immune system scares me with no medication. I cough (mostly dry with some mucus) throughout the day and it cough bouts are horrible at nights. I ignored the cough thinking it will fade away. Few months ago, I started experiencing breathlessness and tightness in chest alongwith coughing. My doctor said it was allergy and prescribed some medicines for lowering eosinophil count. Avatar n tn Unless you know the reason for something like swelling (bee sting) or runny nose and eyes (allergic to something) never just give your dog a medication, ANY medication, without first having him examined by a vet. Your vet will check him over and prescribe something, if necessary, to aid in cutting down on or stopping the mucus. Please let us know what the vet says.
11702305 tn?1420502553 With most medications that you buy or are prescribed, comes an information leaflet that does warn people of normal side effects and serious side effects. If an information leaflet does not come with your medication, information with regard to side effects can be found on the web. Of course, one person may be OK with a particular medication, but it may not suit another person. For example, some people are OK taking amoxicillin whilst others are allergic to it.
