Pneumonia lung nodule ct scan

Common Questions and Answers about Pneumonia lung nodule ct scan

pneumonia

Avatar f tn We had biopsy friday, no results yet but I have his follow-up CT scan and our doctor is less than informative about what it means. I was hoping someone could help. We were told pneumonia or lung cancer... shouldn't there be something else?? The previously described nodular consolidation within the right lower lobe has increased in size, measuring 3.0 x 2.4 cm (2.4 x 1.8 cm, previously) now with air bronchograms.
Avatar f tn During the CT scan of the chest to evaluate the lung nodule, the protocol includes glimpses of the neck and thyroid area. Therefore the finding of a thyroid nodule in this setting is "incidental" but does need ultrasound for further evaluation and probable biopsy given the size.
Avatar m tn I am 59 years old, ex smoker (quit 22 years ago). While x-raying my lung checking for pneumonia the xray showed a nodgule? i am a severe asthmatic and have had pneumonia on several occasions. They did a Cat Scan and said the nod was .08 or 08 centimeters in dia. Now they have ordered a Pet Scan. They won't say i have lung cancer but they need to do this pet sacn to rule it out.
Avatar m tn I went to have a ct scan done and they found a 5mm pulmonary nodule in my left lower lung. Does this mean cancer? I am so scared i need some answers and advice.
Avatar f tn My one year following chest xray showed less density and slightly smaller nodule. They wanted me to get a CT scan to make sure. In your opinion, do you think this is necessary? I'm trying to avoid any extra CT's scans if I dont need them. Plus, end of July I get another whole body scan from the thyroid cancer doctor. They will most likely see this lung density in that and compare, right? Do you think I need to still see a lung doctor too?
Avatar n tn I would not totally freak out because of this but I would ask the doctor to do a PET Scan....along with another CT Scan or possibly they can do a broncoscopy to see what this is? I would ask your doctor. Good Luck to you!
Avatar m tn My husband is 40 years old and was a moderate smoker (3-4 cigarettes a day) for approximately 15 years. During a CT scan for an unrelated issue, doctors found an 8 mm groundglass nodule within the right upper lung. He is scheduled for a follow-up CT in 2 months. The scan also noted dependent subsegmental atelectasis. I have a few questions - does this seem like appropriate protocol? does the atelectasis have any significance?
Avatar f tn Once I had a collapsed lung and on another occasion have had pneumonia when I was a kid. Anyway, I had to get an abdominal CT scan for some upper right abdominal pain I've been having. Everything came back normal except they found a "5mm lower left lobe nodule(5:11). Fine subplueral left lower lobe recticulonodular opacities with superimposed groundglass attentuation is probably post inflammatory?" That's what the report said.
Avatar f tn numerous subcentimeter lymph nodes throughout anterior mediastinum and aortopulmonary window. This is a disconcerting configuration, but I can identify no definate lymph node of significant size. No significant pleural or pericardial fluid. A small amount of interstitial scarring is noted in the left lung base posteriorly. There is a density just behind the aorta which represents the superior pericardial recess and does not constitute a lymph node.
Avatar n tn My sister had a mass on her lung, it was discovered first by x-ray, then she had to have a CT scan, then a PET scan. After all those scans she had to have a biopsy done and the mass removed from her lung. You should post your questions on the lung forum.
Avatar f tn I had an abdominal CT scan 6 months ago that was looking for a pheochromoctytoma (not found). The scan did show, however, some nodules on the left lower lobe of my lung (subpleural nodules). At the time the Dr. didn't seem too concerned and suggested a 6 month CT chest scan follow-up. I just had the CT scan yesterday and I'm very worried it could be much worse (no results yet). I'm a 44 year old male with no smoking history.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, I'm new to this site so I hope I'm in the right place. I had a ct scan done last week due to an abnormal chest x ray and the finding were: 6cm nodule on left lung, 7cm nodule on right lung and lesions on both lungs. I did have a severe asthma attack which I haven't had for 27 years. I'm 48 years old today and otherwise seem to be in good health???? my doctor wants me to get another chest x-ray in 4 weeks to see if the lesions are healing. does this sound right?
Avatar n tn My x-ray report is normal My ECG Report Is normal My Hear Report Is normal but CT Scan Find 44mm nodule in my right lungs but pain is on my left side i take treatment many dr. but still i have a same problem dr.
888988 tn?1241304941 A large lung lesion developed in the interval between an X ray and the subsequent confirmatory CT scan. Although a CT scan is much more sensitive than an X ray, but as you said, a large lesion should have been picked up by an X ray. One possible explanation, as you have rightly deduced, is that he has a fulminant infection worsened by his asplenic state. The other could be an aggressive cancer. At this time, a PET scan and a histopath (biopsy or FNAC) would provide vital information.
Avatar f tn I had a CT scan the other day and it showed a 9mm nodular opacity in the superior segment of the left lower lung. Differential diagnosis includes early pneumonia, focal pneumonitis, scarring and early developing neoplasm. Given history of smoking , 3 follow-up chest CT is recommended to document stability/resolution. My question is how long do I wait to take the next CT? My family doctor says do one a year. What is your opinion? I'm really concerned about the possibility of cancer.
Avatar n tn The ct scan of my neck said there was a 3mm nodule in the lung and some scarring. How can the other report of the ct scan of the chest say everything is clear. Should i still be concerned? The ultrasound of the thyroid showed nodules around the thyroid. What could this mean? I don't have any past medical conditions, never had pneumonia, never even had any kind of surgery; have perfect blood pressure, cholesterol, etc. I have an appt. of an ENT on Saturday to discuss the thyroid report.
Avatar f tn No nodules found to explain the opacity seen on the chest x-ray in the medial LL lung zone. Recommend followup CT scan at 6-12 months if lowrisk- 3-6 months if high risk. Airways: patent- no endobronchial mass. 07/23/2010-Pulm=Per CT- Chest negative, with PFT's showing a mild restricitive physiology with normal DLCO, ABG showing respiratory alkalosis with elevated carboxyHb (consistent with active tobacco or other smoke exposure) DDX=1.
Avatar f tn I am a 51 year old woman. I was in the ER for a heart fibrillation issue when the doctor discovered a 2.5cm "spot" in my lower right lung via Xray. I then had a CT scan of my heart...not sure if the spot was examined on that CT scan. He stated that I had pneumonia (I thought I had the flu), but he also ordered a blood test for TB to rule TB out (test was negative for TB). I was started on antibiotics immediately.
Avatar n tn I had a CAT scan two days ago for other problems but a small pulmonary nodule was found on my left lung, lower lobe inside the tissue. I had phnumonia (spelling) for several weeks and have been over it for less than 6 weeks. I'm very scared that I may have lung cancer as my liver enzymes are elavated as well. Dr. not going to to anything untl I have a chest x-ray in approximately one month to see if possibly the nodule is gone or if it has gotten larger.
Avatar m tn My father has been having lung problems...According to the CT scan report: C.T. images reveal a mixed attenuation, heterogeneously enhancing mass measuring 8cmx9.4 cm.x8.1 cm in the posterior segment of the right upper lobe extending to the apical segment. Its borders are irregular and lobulated. It has a fairly large non-enhancing hypodense focus at its, core, likely due to necrosis. Right upper lobe pulmonary mass with obstructive pneumonia, as described above likely neoplastic.
166039 tn?1256422867 Question... I ended up in the ER again today and they dismissed me saying well it probably is just fibromyalgia. But again no def answer. I did find out from my 4th scan that the non calcified nodule is now calcified. Not sure if the size has changed they didnt have that information. Not even sure if that is a good thing. I have been clearing my throat more which in turn makes me cough. Not coughing up anything really just a lot of drainage.
1468105 tn?1287151463 t have any internal injuries, but the CT Scan showed a lung nodule, which required a 2nd CT Scan of her chest. The 2nd CT scan revealed a 3.7mm lobulated suprahilar mass (ill defined), an 11mm nodule (ill defined) in the infrahilar region, and 2 other 5mm nodules on in the middle/lower lobes, and a couple of enlarged lymph nodes. There was some septal thickening and multiple subpleural blebs. All are non-calcified and in the right lung. Her left lung shows no abnormalities.
Avatar n tn The pulmonary doctor feels this is nothing to worry about. The nodule was unchanged at 3 month and 6 month ct scan and he said I needed no more follow up. Does this sound right. I have read on line this should be followed for 2 years???
Avatar f tn Not a doctor, but I suggest you have the CT scan to resolve the issue. There are many causes of pulmonary nodules, and "well defined" often means good news, but the scan and subsequent radiologist's report will be well worth having.
