Avatar m tn I had a recent chest x ray done and showed a small lesion on right lung. was told to get ct scan to rule out cancer. I had a very bad flu chest congestion, yellow phelgm, headache. very weak lasted over a week, was hard to breathe coughing, for a few days, short of breath. got better took antibotics. chest x ray was about 10 days after I felt better, Could my lesion be from left over infection, I do have copd.
888988 tn?1241304941 Hi, This is indeed unusual. A large lung lesion developed in the interval between an X ray and the subsequent confirmatory CT scan. Although a CT scan is much more sensitive than an X ray, but as you said, a large lesion should have been picked up by an X ray. One possible explanation, as you have rightly deduced, is that he has a fulminant infection worsened by his asplenic state. The other could be an aggressive cancer.
Avatar f tn 5 cm lucency in the right lower lung “concerning for a cavitary lesion” was seen on my chest X-ray I am terrified that it’s lung cancer. No family history of lung cancer. No fevers. No hemoptysis. CBC and basic chem panel were normal. Just a productive cough. I’m supposed to have a chest CT when the cough resolves but I am so worried it’s cancer. Anyone else have any insight or experience with this??

Avatar f tn I had a cat scan for something else which turned out to be fine but they found a very small lesion on my lung which they said was too small to biopsy. I was told wait 6 mos. and get another scan. I have an appt. for that scan in 4 weeks. He said if it remains the same size, they do nothing other than follow it. I don't smoke either and am in good health. Let me know how your PET scan turns out.
Avatar n tn Hi, the opacity as it is in the apical portion of the lung, its likely to be due to tuberculosis, hence the apicolordotic view, means the ordinary X rays cannot visualize this area of the lung, so this is a special view from top. This could also be fibrous tissue from an old lesion. Also, the PPD could be positive due to an old infection.
Avatar n tn Also, it is reasonable to follow the lung lesion serially by imaging, although it is very unlikely for a 6 mm breast lesion to be in any way related to this lung lesion on the opposite side.
Avatar m tn A 5 mm nodule is considered quite small. The odds are high, and in your favor, that a nodule this small, especially one with a smooth, round border, is a benign lesion. That would be especially true if you are a non-smoker.
Avatar n tn How was the 4cm mass on the lung discovered? What tests have been run? My sister had a mass on her lung, it was discovered first by x-ray, then she had to have a CT scan, then a PET scan. After all those scans she had to have a biopsy done and the mass removed from her lung. You should post your questions on the lung forum.
Avatar f tn I later was diagnosed with bronchitis and after a couple of weeks and chest xray was told I had pneumonia. I had a CT Scan last year which showed a lesion. I was told it was scar tissue. During the last several months I have had 4 chest xrays and 2 more CT Scans showing new spots on my right lung. The last CT Scan showed some spots looking better and others looking worse. I still have a cough with no other symptoms except for occasional greenish phlem in small amounts.
Avatar n tn I have been prone to pneumonia and bronchitis through out my life. In March, I had a ct scan of my lungs which revealed emphysema in the bottom lobe of my right lung and a 3.5 cm mass in the upper/middle lobe of my right lung. I went to see a pulmonologist who requested lab work, a chest x-ray, and scheduled a bronchoscopy for the mass. The lab work results revealed that the emphysema was caused by having MZ phenotypes from AAT deficiency.
7900821 tn?1395192104 Lung cancer can predispose one to pneumonia but in that case the pneumonia would recur in the same place in your lung each time. In addition it is quite unlikely that the radiologist would mistake lung cancer for pneumonia. That still leaves the question of why you should have recurrent pneumonia, unanswered and that is a question that will require further investigation.
378497 tn?1232143585 I never assume that the person posting always does even if this is a lung cancer forum. If there is lung cancer, the bone is a common site of metastasis. Could it also be possible that the brain lesions are likewise metastasis?
Avatar f tn It has a mass, infection, blood mix, plus this lower lung is not expanding like it should (atelectasis). The right lung has a lesion, blood mix. Taking all of this into consideration, I would be surprised if this is NOT cancer. The lesion is concerning. My second guess would be one NASTY, nasty lung infection which can present similar to lung cancer. The pathology will tell the TRUE story. Hope I didn't confuse you more.
Avatar n tn Took Buddy to a different vet. Turns out it's not pneumonia. He has lung cancer.
Avatar n tn The sentinel lymph node biopsy should be done together with surgery of the breast mass, either a mastectomy or lumpectomy. If my theory is correct and the lung mass is actually a metastatic lesion, then the lung surgery would indeed be pointless. 2. A bone scan is not needed if you do not have any symptoms hinting at bone metastases (e.g. bone pain, elevated serum alkaline phosphatase). 3.
Avatar f tn My husband is 47 years old and may have lung cancer. We had biopsy friday, no results yet but I have his follow-up CT scan and our doctor is less than informative about what it means. I was hoping someone could help. We were told pneumonia or lung cancer... shouldn't there be something else?? The previously described nodular consolidation within the right lower lobe has increased in size, measuring 3.0 x 2.4 cm (2.4 x 1.8 cm, previously) now with air bronchograms.
Avatar n tn They called today and said they found a pulmonary nodule on mt left lung that was 11mm . I am 33 yrs old and never smoked .I have had pneumonia several times since 2002. I had a x-ray in 2006 and the Dr said he found a spot but , it was either scar tissue or a calicum deposit . Should I be worried ? I am not sure that this one is in the same spot as before . I am scheduled for another Ct scan on Thursday. I have asked for the earlier x-rays .
Avatar n tn # 1 Hisstoplassnoiss # 2 2005 not getting better well starting to get nodules and skin lesions so started to see Rheumotologist, and Neurologist. 5601163 tn?1370701672 Could be residual changes from the pneumonia -- many times the xray takes longer to completely resolve than the symptoms, even after a course of antibiotics. Sometimes, pneumonia develops in response to mild airway blockage from a mass or tumor, so if they saw something (even small or subtle), they probably just want a CT to make sure it's not something like that.
1618318 tn?1318196283 I have swallowing disorders that put me at risk for aspiration pneumonia. Are there any tests that can be done to differentiate the type of pneumonia? I have had several xrays done on my chest and was put on antibiotics.
Avatar f tn I ave just been diagnosed with pneumonia. Will this leave me with permanent lung damage. I feel very short of breath.
Avatar n tn Pneumonia is a very serious lung infection that is caused by several different types of bacteria or viruses. Since you got well and then got sick again, you may either have a resistant strain, or have picked up a secondary infection. Yellow phlegm with a clear x-ray sounds like bronchitis. Either way, you need to see a pulmonary doctor to prescribe a different antibiotic to treat this new infection. Be sure to get lots of rest and drink plenty of fluids.
Avatar m tn Several courses of antibiotics later and X rays, the pneumonia has gone but left some marks on the lung; scarring according to the doctors. Despite being able to cycle and run ok, I am still not feeling right and still have catargh on my lungs which is fighting to stay put. The worst is just not feeling that my head is connected, almost like I continually have had a glass of wine! Anyone else felt like this after pneumonia? I am an asthmatic although controlled perfectly by ventolin etc.
