pneumonia

Avatar n tn It sounds more like disk disease than a seizure disorder or chemical toxin exposure. Yelping signifies sudden pain and although all dog's can get disk disease, Yorkshire Terriers, along with Dachshunds seem more prone to disk disease than other breeds. Please take her to the vet again and have her back and neck examined for disk disease, and of course have her treated if necessary. Treatment for disk disease requires steroids, pain medicine, muscle relaxers and cage rest.
Avatar n tn Yorkshire Terriers are extremely difficult to bred, hernia or not. These are VERY tiny dogs, and the problems that come along with breeding them can end up costing you not only thousands of dollars, but they can also cost you the life of your dog and/or her puppies. If you look at the Yorkshire Terrier breed standard as written by the AKC (American Kennel Club), it tells you that a Yorkshire Terrier should weigh between four and seven pounds. A three pound Yorkie is EXTREMELY small.

6233527 tn?1379721656 I have two Yorkshire Terriers. One which I've had for about 7 years now and the other which I've had for around 4 years. The older one is female. They've always gotten along and been in good health up until around 6 months ago. My younger dog, Nike, has gotten very territorial of me and lashes out at my other dog, Hershey, when I give her attention. It's not all the time that it happens, but has become more frequent in the past couple months.
Avatar m tn Has your dog been checked for the common diseases associated with megaesophagus? These diseases are: Hypothyroid, Myasthenia gravis, and Addison's Disease. If your dog does not have these diseases than he probably has idiopathic megaesophagus which means that the cause can't be found. Megaesophagus usually occurs in large breed dogs. It is uncommon for it to occur in Yorkshire terrier's but is not unheard of.
Avatar m tn My Yorkshire in the last week he has been getting humpback stiff and his breathing slows down approximately about 10min. then he goes back to normal. I'm curious is there something wrong..... Please I need a respond.........
Avatar n tn Was the amoxicillin leftover from a previous illness, or recently prescribed for this latest round? If you are trying to treat him yourself, it's a losing battle. Dogs can get upper respiratory infections that can lead to pneumonia - just like people. Please don't wait to get him in to see a vet. You have to make certain that he's on an antibiotic that will hit whatever bacteria is making him sick.
Avatar n tn The only thing that did trouble me a little was that my Yorkshire Terrier would just still quietly in the carrier and was not interested in the treats and/or water at all.
Avatar m tn In addition to what Jerry has mentioned, you should also consider that too much, or not enough bathing may contribute to flaky skin. However one of the most common problems, could be that the dog is not getting enough omega 3's in it's diet. Avatar f tn I live in Barnsley South Yorkshire, thank you that would be fantastic since I seem to get dismissed by the dr's at the hospital quite often. Maybe my next appointment will go better but to speak to a specialist would be great.

535822 tn?1443976780 If you celebrate Christmas what will you have to eat Christmas day, we are going to grill again and maybe have a ham as a change , I usually get a pudding sent by family also brandy butter for that same pud, it a bit like a fruit cake mix, only heated up in a bowl like a pudding, served with custard ..The Brits have Christmas Tea .with heavy fruit cake, we love it, trifle, mince pies, cup cakes, sandwiches or salad from the turkey .
Avatar f tn I'm with you, Margot! LOL!! I don't think I've ever known a Jack Russell that sat still long enough to eat, never mind gain weight! LOL! According to the AKC breed standard, they should weigh between 13 and 17 pounds. They are supposed to stand between 13-14 inches tall at the shoulder. As a bit of trivia, in 1999 (I believe), the AKC voted to recognize the breed as an official AKC breed and the name was changed from the Jack Russell Terrier to the Parson Russell Terrier.
Avatar n tn Does he spit it up immediately completely undigested, or does it spend some time in his stomach before coming back up? Has he been doing this for a long time, a short time, or on and off? It could be a lot of different causes depending on how the symptoms occur. Even with special digestive food, he may not tolerate one of the ingredients. Have you tried just white rice and drained cooked ground beef?
Avatar n tn Two weekends ago I woke up with the usual backache associated with pneumonia. I get it twice a year, so on Monday I called my doctor and went in. I was not seen by the doctor but was given prescriptions for the pneumonia and an order to get x-rays done. On Thursday I got the call that the x-rays did not show pneumonia and to stop taking the medication. On Friday I was worse so I went to the ER. That's where they told me I dislocated my ribs from coughing due to the pneumonia.....
