Avatar n tn t get vaccine even if it is known the mother is infected Us has few very very good hospitals but many are so low as third world countries on some subjects like this, vaccination should be mandatory in children as in most european country, it is expensive but you can eradicate hbv complitely this way.In our country if you have hbv infected mother and don't make vaccine to the baby you can sue hospital for a lot of money but since this is mandatory it cannot happen.
Avatar n tn In fact it just may be the opposite. Young children have very strong immune systems and they may be able to fight off the virus more successfully than adults.
Avatar f tn There can be honest disagreement among experts about the management of RML atelectasis, bronchiectasis and recurrent pneumonia, despite appropriate, intense medical treatment, in young children with a normal immune system. There is general agreement, however that, when localized bronchiectasis, especially of the RML, becomes refractory, more severe or resistant to medical management, lobar resection may be warranted.
Avatar f tn Two of the times we were sent home and told to rest and keep up on fluids. The third visit he was finally given a chest XRay which confirmed severe pneumonia. He has been in the ICU for 3 days now and has rapidly deteriorated. The prognosis is lesions/ nodules surrounding the heart that need to be removed which they are unable to do until his pneumonia clears up. There is an apparent Staph infection of one of the nodules inside a ventricle of the heart.
Avatar f tn How old is your son? Are these baby teeth or adult teeth? I wouldn't pull any adult teeth unless absolutely necessary. Yes, the wisdom teeth could potentially fill in that space but there are complications with that. As the wisdom teeth come in, they don't move sideways into the space but rather, they tilt in and lean in sideways which causes problems with the jaw bone.
Avatar f tn They are kind of like Occupational Therapists that see the child weekly in all different environments, they use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy type methods for children, but they also are great support to the family aswell, acting as advocates and can refer to other people if necessary. My step son has mental health issues and we got the support above through the Paediatrician.
Avatar n tn Well you may think it's wrong but it's not it is perfectly normal she is very young she doesn't know if it's wrong to like a girl she just thinks that there pretty and likes them i did it when i was young out 31/3 so it's normal I guarantee you every thing is normal just keep what you were doing!!
Avatar n tn I am a mother of two boys, ages 6 and 3 1/2. Last August when my oldest son was 5, my sister and I caught he and his male cousin age 3 at the time (now 4) sucking each others penises. This happened on several different occassions. My youngest was involved in some of this activity as well; however, it was only with his cousin and not brother. The activity between my youngest and his cousin were lying on top of one another and the like.
Avatar f tn She is leaning towards bronchiolitis. I have researched this and mostly find it is related to young children. Are there any treatments for bronchiolitis in adults? Thanking you in advnace for your reply.
Avatar f tn (in children) In adults, this type of thing would show up as an Axis II personality disorder. In children, particularly 4 (very young for this kind of diagnosis, ADD/ADHD as well - and I would hold off on the meds until a second or third opinion is obtained..cheaper than treatment I'm sure...) ALSO - (I have personal experience in this - my 5 yr old girl had wild tantrums, and I was very worried,, and took her to different drs...
Avatar f tn I looked up treatment of children after the above post. It appears that there are centers that specialize in treatment of children with liver disease. It isn't recommended that children under 3. Triple treatment isn't approved for treatment in children. The current treatment approved for children is Peg and ribavirin. There is lots to consider before treating someone so young. I personally would not unless it was life threatening. Remember people can live with hepatitis C.

Avatar m tn I asked my doctor if I could get the pneumonia shot this year since I struggled so much last year with my second bout of Pneumonia. He said I should only get the shot if I am 65 years old or diabetic. I do not want to struggle this year like I did last year. Am I too young? Am I not eligible? Is it a health risk for me to get this shot?
Avatar m tn t know if this is kidney infection. I had this when I was young, and I was hospitalized. Is your daughter in the hospital? If so, doctors shoud be able to determine this.
Avatar n tn I would get a second or third opinion - including one from a natural/alternative practioner. Myopia in very young children is generally caused by inability of the eye muscles to focus for reasons that are not well understood if understood at all. Doctors don't know a lot of things even though they present like they know a lot (so they can charge you big bucks). I'd say avoid eyeglasses that only seem to make myopia worse.
Avatar n tn I have a 7 year old daughter with HCM, with a very thick septum (4.0 on MRI) and no symptoms--due to her septum size, she's recommended for an ICD--but we find that's very rare in young children and that she would need it through her abdomen. It is her only risk factor at this time-although a big one.... Any thoughts from others? Experiences? Docs/places that do the most of these WITH HCM folks? Thanks!
454286 tn?1205883067 HI, my son (4 years old) has been coughing for a very long time with no answers from his doctors. His first xray in November of 2007 showed Atalectasis. Docs sent him home saying he had Croup and that atalectasis would clear up. Still coughing all these months, new pediatrician was diagnosed with Asthma in December. His asthma is also exercise induced. Saw pulmonologist and gave him Flow Vent and Albuterol inhalers , along with Decadron when the flare ups occurred and Croup.
Avatar f tn My husband is a twenty-six-year-old middle school teacher and when he came home on Friday after school he was pale, a bad headache, had clammy skin, body aches and chest congestion. Since then it's only worsened: he can't breathe full breaths, he doesn't cough a lot but when he does he gets chest pains & usually clear mucus, but sometimes it's green. He's going back & forth between a fever of just over 100 and shaking chills where he can't seem to get warm.
Avatar f tn Hello, I recently discovered friable, breaking asbestos pipe insulation in my basement. We are going to have air quality testing done, and have considered dust wipe testing as well. I am extremely concerned for my family's health, including very young children, and would really appreciate any help you could provide! We stored the a/c units in the basement uncovered for at least one year, and covered for 2 additional years, using them in the summertime.
Avatar n tn Our children sleep in the same room. Boy is 7..Girl is 5... we caught them talking about having sex together. What should we do? For the time being we are having one sleep on the couch and one in the bedroom. We talked to them together and separately about anyone touching them and that it is ok for them to tell us. They both said no one has and they have not touched eachother. I know children are curious but is this normal for children at his age to talk about this?
Avatar f tn I hate to say this, because it isn't meant as a criticism, just an observance... (And running free in the woods is just about my personal idea of Heaven!! I would run free in the woods with my dog, every hour God sends, if I didn't have to do other things!) But I am wondering if at 4 months old, he could do with a little more discipline and structure in his activities. He is at a very "impressionable" stage in his development.
