I usually get pneumonia every other year although the shots have helped I didn't start getting them until I was 50. My other health concerns are severe arthritis in the joints of my hands knees ankles and back.
559992 tn?1216169738 I am so sorry to read you are in pain. the flu is bad enough but RA makes it worse. So, yes, the flu can make your RA flare. It is a good idea to get a flu shot early in the season if you have RA and a necessity (as is the pneumonia vaccine) if you are on Methotrexate, Enbrel, Humira or Remicade.

1401023 tn?1280781358 My Rheumotologist did a really in-depth lab panel on me to try to figure out the cause of my migrating arthritis. One day it is in my wrists, one day my elbow, one day my knee, always in my Sacroiliac joints (they are swollen and warm to the touch all the time). I had to wait 5 weeks to see him, he is very thorough and I like him but I am concerned. I had my lab work done on Aug 6th, the results were faxed to him on the 10th. I picked up hard copies at the lab I go to on the 12th.
Avatar n tn Two weekends ago I woke up with the usual backache associated with pneumonia. I get it twice a year, so on Monday I called my doctor and went in. I was not seen by the doctor but was given prescriptions for the pneumonia and an order to get x-rays done. On Thursday I got the call that the x-rays did not show pneumonia and to stop taking the medication. On Friday I was worse so I went to the ER. That's where they told me I dislocated my ribs from coughing due to the pneumonia.....
Avatar f tn For several years I have experienced joint pains in my hips, knees, shoulders... But I just can't get to the bottom of it with the drs. I was sent to a physio who was quite rude to me, telling me that my symptoms were stress related and I was imagining it. So the burning pains which drive me to despair are imaginary are they? I notice that these symptoms are worse in cold weather. More recently though, I have developed a lot of numbness and tingling in my arms and hands...
Avatar n tn I took Levofloxacin to cure a bout of pneumonia. Sure enough, the infection cleared up, but my joints ached so bad I could not raise my arms to take a shower, put my clothes on, bend to tie my shoes, get in and out of a car quickly. Strength training and jogging was out of the question for a month.
Avatar f tn A chest x-ray a couple of days ago confirmed that I do NOT have pneumonia now, but I can still hear sounds in my lungs when I do deep breathing. I don't want to battle with my doctor (who is a huge advocate of levaquin), but it seems that levaquin is not the right direction for me (I am allergic to penicillin), even if I were to develop pneumonia, which, with the corticosteroids, is also an increasing possibility. Do you have any further insight on this for me? Thanks for your help.

Avatar f tn Dr in ER thought she had Pulmonary Embolism. Her Dr saw her in hospital today and said she has pneumonia and caused her to have blood coming up when she coughed.
Avatar m tn First time, the doctor noted traces of pneumonia in his chest and gave him Amox for 10 days. He was fine for another 10 days and got it back. This time, he got better only with IV antibiotics. He was ok for another 10 months with on and off colds, but this time he developed pneumonia again and had to be treated with oral antibiotics. I want to know if there is anyway to help prevent reccurence of pneumonia? Will there be any damage to his lungs because of reccurence of pneumonia?
250701 tn?1320974765 OMG, you had pneumonia on top of this. I'm so sorry to hear that. I wake up in the middle of the night with joint pain in my hips. I have thought about taking a pain reliever, but the jury is still out as to which is the best to take. My doc said advil, but many others on here have said their doc's said no advil, take tylenol. So, I just decided to fight through the pain. I have never had swollen hands so I really don't know what to tell you.
Avatar n tn In the last 9 months I have been diagnosed with asthmatic bronchitis, which has lead to pneumonia twice, and right now and sick again with pneumonia, which may or may not have started with bronchitis or sinus infection they do not know. I have never had pneumonia in my life, now all of a sudden 3 times in less then a year. What could be causing this?? I have been having a lot of trouble with my digestive system. I have reflux a lot.

Avatar f tn //www.healthline.com/health/aspiration-pneumonia. How are you now? There are symptoms of aspiration pneumonia but they normally last longer than a short bit. https://www.healthline.com/health/aspiration-pneumonia#treatment. Please let us know how you are doing now.
Avatar n tn My son had been diagnosed with pneumonia 4 times in the past four months, as well as bronchiolitis in between. He has been treated with Rocephin, Azithromycin, and Amoxil. He has breathing treatments 4 times a day (pulmicort & xopenex) has had 2 episodes of cyanosis, and been hospitalized for low oxygen satuation, wheezing etc. His pediatrician tells me I shouldn't panic and that he has asthma. He is only 13 mos old!
Avatar n tn I don't have any swelling in my joints. The pain in all joints started about 7/05/08. Ninety five percent of the time it's when I am sleeping. I can't hardly turn over is is so painful. Almost makes me cry. Also if I sit too long. Very difficult to stand up walk the first 10-15 steps. The pain subsides drastically but stiffness is still there. I am recovering from acohol abuse. The pain started the first week into inpatient.
