can you get Pneumocystis jiroveci Pneumonia from from kissing a hiv postive person? she been having coughs some but nothing else she said.i know you cant get from french kissing but worried about Pneumocystis jiroveci Pneumonia. i went to the doctor last week and they said i had pneumonia they
put in the hospital for 4 days on antibotics. i got out and two later i went back and they gave me different antibotics and still feeling a little bad.
Would carinii pneumonia present itself with just a minor cough and congestion and no fever, no rash or other symptoms. In other words is this type of pneumonia something that is more severe? I have not had an exposure to someone with HIV, but I have allowed myself to receive oral sex on occasion from guys that I did not know their HIV status.
hi ... I really hope you will help me in this issue ... I had to undergo anti hiv test at 9 months with the non-reactive / negative .. but I have all the symptoms .. and for about 7 months my stool always accompanied by mucus and then I try to check a stool culture and the results were found Klebsiella pneumoniae ... I was so frightened with the result ... is this something to do with hiv?
whether anti hiv test results I was a fake?

Thanks for the response. Just wondering though, does the pneumonia I had sound like it is the same kind one would get from HIV infection (I'm not actually sure if pneumonia is a symptom of HIV infection or if it is prevalent in later stages, as when one acquires AIDS).

Before I got the pneumonia my doctor had switched my hiv meds to triumeq which was 2 and half month before getting the pneumonia. Before then I felt perfectly heathy and my cd count was in the 600s and viral load undetected. NOW I HAVE PAIN ALL THE TIME ESPECIALLY IN THE WALLS OF MY CHEST. it feels like muscle ache or something. Could my new hiv drug been the cause of the pneumonia. Got sick after travelling out of the states for 7 wks.
What I want to know is should I be confident in a negative test result at 3 months? Is contracting walking pneumonia common in very early HIV infections normal, and is the fact that I did contract it during the window period increase my chances of actually having the infection? Is my doctor correct in his logic that my blood work should detect the HIV (or antiobodies) if HIV was the cause of my pneumonia?

Now i am going crazy, my wife was hospitalized yesterday for having Pneumonia. i am in living hell, i tried to post in the DR forum but it always says that the forum has reached its daily limits. please helppppppppppp i do not know what to do, i do not care about myself any more the thing that kills me every sec that i might passed this ( HIV ) to my wife OMG.
Receptive oral sex (your case) is considered low to very low risk according most health institutions in the world. As you didn't swallow semen, the risk of contracting HIV in this scenario is highly unlikely.
Most people on this forum wouldn't recommend testing, however, most health institutions would advice to do it. Therefore, the decision is entirely up to you.
I will go soon to the doctor but I am afraid that he/she will misdiagnosed with bronchitis or something like that,because I live in a very small town in Europe where doctors have no very much experience,especially with things like HIV. Can someone have PCP pneumonia for 3 months without temperature? I think that I would conquer my fear if I did not have those symptoms. And those symptoms cannot be pshyological.

Over a year ago I had a brief exposure of unprotected(I'm female)vaginal sex. No ejaculation and less than a few minutes. I had the 4th gen test at almost 8 weeks and almost 10 weeks. In addition I performed an at home Oraquick at 6 and 6 1/2 months. All negative. Dr. Hook and my GP both assured me I am negative. However, I recently for the first time in my life have been diagnosed with bacterial lobar pneumonia. I'm healthy and in my 30s.
The doc described it as an a-typical pneumonia as i was walking around did not need to be hospitalized. The pneumonia left in a month (march 08) but it seemed to have left my asthma in a bad state and I would be short of breath and feel weak until april.
Then in May I got hit by what seemed like dengue (fyi. I had ridden in a car full of mosquitoes one morning 2 weeks prior). I had a sudden onset of high fever one night and my skin turned red all over.

A week later I came down with tonsillitis and pneumonia. Could that be a symptom of early hiv infection? My lymph nodes did not hurt then. I got series of tests yesterday and the dr said it may be Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia, which is mainly confined to AIDS!! And he told me to test HIV.. I told him I had been tested for several times and results were all negative. He told me to have a CD4 count test.... I didn't obey and came home..
How could it happen??
Then I searched the net to see if it's possible to have HIV without being detected by tests, and it says some rare subtypes could be missed by some tests..
