Avatar f tn Does anyone have any idea what's wrong with me???? I took clarithromycin for pneumonia back in May, and within a few days I was experiencing acidic, watery bowel movements that would make the entire anal area itch terribly the rest of the day. After the antibiotics were done, I took probiotics and such. The concern was clostridium difficile colitis, of course. Weeks after I was off the antibiotics, I had pain in my chest area.
Avatar m tn What were the particulars about your surgery, if any, that you can remember (as in how was it performed). The pneumonia was not post op, was it? Pneumonia can be associated with sepsis (infection of the blood stream) but not necessarily. You sound to have a complicated medical history which will all factor into things. When is your valve replacement surgery?
Avatar n tn and a lack of air movement in my lower left lung. She diagnosed me with community acquired pneumonia. I was prescribed Robitussin with codeine to help me sleep, although all it really did was tire me slightly. After another week of feeling completely miserable I started to breath better, my nose dried out, and my cough produced less and less green mucus. Sleeping then was hard, but I was able to take my meds, settle down, sleep for about two hours, wake up again from coughing and repeat.
1366536 tn?1278076273 Many things can cause scarring of the lungs, so a few more details in your history would be helpful. Have you ever been a smoker? If so, do you still smoke? History of asthma or pneumonia? Chemical exposures at work?... I would love to offer some suggestions, but I need more info to work on. Thank you.
Avatar f tn I weight train regularly and work on good nutrition. I began having a dull pain in the right side of my chest and of course assumed it was a pulled muscle. It hurts when I try to turn from side to side. It has now started to hurt when I take a breath, deep or shallow. Today actually , it began to throb as I was sitting motionless. I'm trying not to become too concerned about it, but it's starting to bother me. I had some chest x-rays about a month or two ago due to a bad cough.
Avatar n tn Hi and sorry you are ill. It takes 1-3 weeks to get over viral pneumonia but it can take a little longer depending on your age and health. You could have a secondary bacterial infection that you can get after viral pneumonia that is called walking pneumonia and is caused by either bacteria called Mycoplasma or Chlamydia pneumoniae. "Walking" pneumonia gives you a low grade fever, tiredness, dry hacking cough, pain in the ribs area. They can check for these by testing and culture.
Avatar n tn Would carinii pneumonia present itself with just a minor cough and congestion and no fever, no rash or other symptoms. In other words is this type of pneumonia something that is more severe? I have not had an exposure to someone with HIV, but I have allowed myself to receive oral sex on occasion from guys that I did not know their HIV status.
Avatar f tn I'm hoping someone can help me. I had community acquired pneumonia at Christmas 15 for the first time which required 2 nights hospital stay. Prior to this if not had any real health issues, ex social smoker ie maybe 2/3 cigarettes every couple of weeks for about 8 years until about 13 months ago. 7 months later I got pneumonia again (still recovering now 3 weeks later).
Avatar f tn Clinical history states on form, recent chest infection radiologist requests repeat in 6 wks. What’s difference between chest infection and pneumonia?
1727909 tn?1314845210 30 pm and I missed it. I really need some advice. Twice in the last 6 mos I've missed my dose (75mg) of Toprol by 5 hours . I developed very noisy lungs---like the times I had pneumonia. My husband could hear it WITHOUT even needing a stethoscope. While I have seldom missed my med, it happens.....What is this happening? Should I worry? Does this mean I have CHF? Thank you! P.S. An hour after remembering the Toprol the lungs completely clear.
Avatar f tn When she was about 9 months old, she got a bad cold, so I took her into the ER. It turns out, it was a good patch of pneumonia in her lungs. They kept her for two days on a nebulizer and meds. A few months later, she got a cough and cold again, and I took her back to the ER because there wasn't any room at her doctors. Turns out she had bronchitis, and there was still a small patch of pneumonia left over from the previous stay.
Avatar n tn It sounds like your doctors are capable and have provide you good care, but given your long history of lung problems and a number of unresolved questions about the bronchitis/pneumonia and the nodule(s), you might want to consider getting a second opinion from a lung specialist, called a pulmonologist. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Other healed lesions (even the pneumonia episodes you had in the past), infections with bacteria and fungi (histoplasmosis), benign cysts etc can cause nodules in the lungs, apart from cancer. All the best, and I pray that the CT scan also indicates a benign cause!
Avatar n tn About 10 years ago,I got pneumonia from a hospital. After treatment, I still didn't feel well. One specialist said my lung was very big after seeing my X-ray film. After that,I didn't take any medicine. Recently,I breathe heavily and feel uncomfortable inside the chest after little excertion. After the pneumonia,I have whitish phlem all along.I think I have COPD.Would the doctor please advise?
4717778 tn?1358388109 Also, the possibility of nodules becoming cancerous increases with history of smoking/current smoking/previous history of cancer/family history of cancer. Hence, depending on all these parameters and interval check may have been asked for. Based on this knowledge, you need to discuss in detail with your doctor or radiologist. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
Avatar n tn Two weekends ago I woke up with the usual backache associated with pneumonia. I get it twice a year, so on Monday I called my doctor and went in. I was not seen by the doctor but was given prescriptions for the pneumonia and an order to get x-rays done. On Thursday I got the call that the x-rays did not show pneumonia and to stop taking the medication. On Friday I was worse so I went to the ER. That's where they told me I dislocated my ribs from coughing due to the pneumonia.....
Avatar f tn t have any symptoms in May. I never even had a cold so I had no idea about the pneumonia... I am a healthy female with no other health problems. Please help. This discussion is related to Pneumonia that won't go away.
Avatar f tn Pneumonia, meaning the purpose of the study is to rule out pneumonia, but for billing purposes the doctor must list a symptom or diagnosis rather than the words rule out pneumonia. Another possibility is that this is a voice dictation error. Radiologists use voice dictation software (similar to the type you use for your smartphone, but more advanced and with a medical focus). This software is not 100% perfect and may generate words not intended.
377012 tn?1283965435 unfortunately RSV can take up to 8 weeks before it is released from your system hence why he had it twice in 2 months....the reason i thought it could be pneumonia is because of the way is chest moves when he breathes and because RSV can cause pneumonia to be set up in your system since your system is low especially in toddlers!
Avatar f tn Why you had had pneumonia is not something we can answer without your medical history. Besides this community is to discuss hepatitis C and all ramifications. Pneumonia is an infection of the lung. Sepsis is a severe illness in which the bloodstream is overwhelmed by bacteria. Sepsis can be caused by an infection of the lungs. (bacterial pneumonia). Only your doctor who treated you can say what happened.
