I hope the kids didn't get pneumonia. Sometimes there isn't anything you can do and didn't do anything "wrong". One thing I can think of is to make sure whenever you go somewhere in the public to wash yours and the kids hands before you leave the public building so that any germs that they picked up are washed off before you leave.
Another thing is that whenever you go to the doctor's office, don't let the kids play with the toys.
It showed pneumonia in the bottom of both lungs.. I took cipiro for 2 weeks...Felt better now Im coughing bad and coughing up yellow phelghm. New xrays showed nothing.Whats going on? And what kind of pneumiona lives in the bottom of the lungs?

Not too long ago in history, it was common for people to die from such things. Antibiotics definitely remove such infections, and without treatment the toxins would eventually burst into the blood stream, killing us. My wife nearly died of pneumonia and was on life support. Without antibiotics she would have died because the body is too weak to fight the infection during such times, especially after major surgery which she had just had.

Our son has been diagnosed with Asthma last year...it leads to pneumonia quite often.

trigger an attack. The long term side affects of these drugs are horrible..
Looking for someone who can help me with facts...Recently the person I was with had an outbreak of herpes, and was diagnosed by a Dr with genital herpes. Since then he has blamed me as the cause, for his genital herpes. However, I've never had any sypmtoms. Fearing I was cause I went to the Dr and had a Herpes Blood test since I don't have any symptoms that is the only test they are able to perform. I just received the results and they were negative.
Called my primary care doctor and he wants to see me tomorrow to see if I have pneumonia. I have asthma, and am prone to pneumonia. I had pneumonia in my first trimester with my first pregnancy, and lost the baby at the end of my 12th week. I'm kind of freaking out. Now that I'm in my 3rd trimester, I'm worried about preterm labor now (a lot of websites say it can happen with pneumonia). Any words of encouragement?
Novembermommy is correct. Pneumonia isn't really contagious, its the cold/virus that can lead to pneumonia which is contagious. Also if he's been on antibiotics for 24hrs he's not considered contagious anymore anyway.
I had the flu (a long with my husband and children) we were all really sick for about 5 days. Everyone got over it except for me. I don't feel like it is the flu now though. I have a horrible cough. So 5 days ago I went to the Urgent Care and Dr said probably pneumonia. She gave me antibiotics, prednisone, and albuterol. It has been 5 days. The fevers are just higher. They dont even get better with ibuprofen. I can't function. I have small kids. I feel to sick to drive to the doctor.
Thanks for your comments on your experience with pneumonia. It does help to know it just takes time to get over this illness. Mentally I feel like doing activities, but physically my body tells me NO! So, I listen to my body and rest even in the middle of the day.
Sorry to hear of your problems with the parapneumonic effusion and chest drains...that sounds just awful. I pray that you will soon be well. God bless.
diagnosed with septic shock due to bilateral pneumonia with complications of a right sided pleural effusion. We almost lost her but luckily the doctor drained enough fluid to help her breath on her own again. After 5 days in icu she was placed on peds...the next day the fluids came back and she was placed on a chest tube for over a week. On November 10 the last x-ray showed the fluid was gone...so i thought...they removed her tube and sent her home the same da.
Ha mine also said Boy, so your age probably really doesn't matter. Although i went back and did it for my other 2 kids and they were right.
But if the mythis true about the heart rate thing then maybe i'm haveing a girl cause my last scan at 8 wks the heartbeat was 170.
Who knows i guess i'll find out when the baby arrives, i dont want to findout with this one.
