Do any of your friends or family have the same problem as you? They can culture your sputum and tell if it is viral or bacterial- you need to know before you take any medicine because antibiotics only work on bacteria, not viruses.

There they said that it was hives and they also took a chest xray because I was coughing uncontrollably. The xray came back and I was diagnosed with pneumonia. I was given an antibiotic (7 days) and prednizone (5 days) and benedryl as needed (which I took every night for about 4 nights when the hives started to flare up.) The nasonex takes care of the stuffy nose and i take claritin at nights so i dont wake up with symptoms, however i still have the cough and mucus (apparently it wasn't bronchitis). I am currently on medicine for a sinus infection.

Hello, I am 31 years old, & I smoked for 17 years, and i quit cold turkey yesterday. I was told Friday I have chronic pneumonia & chronic bronchitis. Today I had a hard time, and so I put a patch on. I am sick to my stomach, I am having a very hard time taking a deep breath still, and I am shaky, and feel horrible. I am on strong anti-biotics for the pneumonia and steroids for the inflamation.
