550796 tn?1214942591 My 5 month old kitten aspirated some wet food on Sunday and I took him to the emergency vet. She did xrays, which showed cloudiness in both lungs. She told me to take him to my regular vet in the morning, which I did. He was at the vet's all day. When I went to get him in the afternoon, they told me that they had given him an antibiotic injection to prevent secondary infections. I took him home with a bottle of amoxicillin (sp?) to give him morning and night.
Avatar m tn If it is arteritic then large doses of oral cortison are needed to get the sed rate down. The section on emedicine is especially good. If its non-arteritic there is no treatment for the eye problem and visual recovery is usually good. Again emedicine entry is excellent.
Avatar f tn I am diagnosed with pneumonia but the soctor says it can be cured at home. He has given medicine augmentin with other drugs. Will thia work? Do i need to get admitted?
Avatar f tn Have anyone started feeling dizzy, weak and hard to breath sitting or standing but OK laying down while taking medicine for pneumonia and how long do it last or should I go back to the ER.
Avatar n tn Buddy was diagnosed with pneumonia and has gone through a course of doggy antibiotics and 3 courses of human antibiotics. The right lung is full of fluid. He would get better, then be energetic and get worse. It was suggested that he may not have pneumonia but CHF. Is there anything to do to help him. The vet doesn't seem to have any suggestions. Would a diuretic help? He's starting to not eat now.
Avatar f tn This sounds like Pneumonia to me and it can become an emergency very quickly......Just wanted to make you aware......
Avatar f tn I gave her some medicine, hopefully it helps. BUT what is the temperature that i need to worry about. Like what is the max before heading to the hospital or something. Or what are the signs i should worry about ?
541431 tn?1225894360 Pneumonia nead to be well treated, people feel very weak, very sick. Then when pneumonia is cured you must go back to the doctor (internal medicine) and make all the analyses (ask free T3, free T4 and TSH too). About thyroid, need to check with a ENDO or your internAL MEDICINE doctor, but in my opinion with an infection the values may be different but perhaps it is urgent too.
Avatar n tn and a lack of air movement in my lower left lung. She diagnosed me with community acquired pneumonia. I was prescribed Robitussin with codeine to help me sleep, although all it really did was tire me slightly. After another week of feeling completely miserable I started to breath better, my nose dried out, and my cough produced less and less green mucus. Sleeping then was hard, but I was able to take my meds, settle down, sleep for about two hours, wake up again from coughing and repeat.
Avatar f tn My baby has been diagnosed with pneumonia, a week ago. She still acts as if she is in pain, and has short rapid breaths. She is on Zeniquin, and a pain med. She was originally in an oxygen kennel for 2 days, and was pretty good when we brought her home. Now it seems like she gets these bouts of gasping for air, her gums are still pink. I am startin to think her vets arent sure what is wrong with her.
Avatar n tn I called my public health department to ask about PEP. They had referred me to my local emergency room. The doctor at the emergency room says that my state regulates who they prescribe the medicine to and that my case wasn't reliable when it came to sources. He referred me to the public health department. He assured me that it was all hearsay and to get tested. Was that right? Can they do that? What are my odds of actually contracting it? Is there anything else I can do now?
Avatar f tn Doctor ran some tests and said I had pneumonia. After taking the medicine he prescribed, I am better now. I have also had several fever blisters over the course of the past month. My question is how likely is it my 8 months of testing was not good enough and the pneumonia was a sign of hiv? Should I test again? I am really scared doc. Please help.
Avatar m tn He was a smart man who treated his body like a temple. We know they had to make an emergency plane landing a few days or so before he died. I read that it was because he over dosed. Is this true? We may never find out. We knew he had been sick for a month with pneumonia so it could have had something to do with that. They gave him meds in the hospital and he refused to stay. He may have been allergic to what they gave him.
1853014 tn?1340038575 I was given my 3rd dose of Hep A&B shot yesterday in one arm and a pneumonia shot in the other arm. This morning woke up with burning feeling down the back of my right leg and sore to touch. Is this normal?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with pneumonia today and I've been getting radiation for my left breast for cancer for the last three weeks. First, did the radiation weaken my lungs to make me getting pneumonia easier? Secondly should I continue with the radiation while taking antibiotics or wait until I'm over the medicine or just the 48 hours that the doctor said I would be contagious?
Avatar f tn I had the same situation before but just a pneumonia bilateral not covid pneumonia. Are you feeling fine now? Based on my research on pneumonia, the person having it usually recovers for about 6 months. That is totally normal coz you're still on process of healing your lungs and our body is recovering from the illness due to pneumonia. Until now I am having the urge of taking deep breaths and still working on it until my breathing is normal.
Avatar f tn My husband had emergency bypass surgery four days ago and his heart is now OK but they say he's developed pneumonia. I'm EXTREMELY scared about this! What should he/we do? We are not in the States now so it's important I get good guidance to deal with this in a developing country. Any PARTICULAR drug he should take for this? What can I do for him? Help!
Avatar m tn He was diagnosed with pneumonia. I would definitely call a Dr. or go to an urgent care or the emergency room. Some pneumonias are viral and some are bacterial and some can be contagious. Do any of your friends or family have the same problem as you? They can culture your sputum and tell if it is viral or bacterial- you need to know before you take any medicine because antibiotics only work on bacteria, not viruses.
Avatar f tn I had pneumonia for 3 months then it seemed 2 clear for 2 weeks after 4 courses of anti-biotics that didnt help now it seems its coming back and my doctors given me more anti-biotics which i am reluctant to take coz they never seem 2 work.my dr said my white bloodcells are very low.i had a punctured lung about 3 years ago and wandered if it cud be connected? have u any suggestions what i shud do or anything that my dr shud be doing different?
Avatar f tn There they said that it was hives and they also took a chest xray because I was coughing uncontrollably. The xray came back and I was diagnosed with pneumonia. I was given an antibiotic (7 days) and prednizone (5 days) and benedryl as needed (which I took every night for about 4 nights when the hives started to flare up.) After starting the antibiotic my cough cleared up very fast! However, the hives lingered, but got slightly better each night.
Avatar n tn If you have a virus that resulted in pneumonia, while allopathic medicine has little in the way of anti-virals, there are plants that have anti-viral properties. Olive leaf and elderberry are two examples. Herb Pharm makes a tincture that helps with virus control. That being said, though, and assuming this is viral in nature, once you have pneumonia you have progressed significantly through the viral process already and the more important thing is clearing the lungs.
250084 tn?1303307435 t surprise me if there is some info on the net since a health emergency like pneumonia might prompt others to quit at that time. Take care kiddo.....
Avatar n tn After seeing a doctor i was prescribed medicine for bronchitis and nasonex. The nasonex takes care of the stuffy nose and i take claritin at nights so i dont wake up with symptoms, however i still have the cough and mucus (apparently it wasn't bronchitis). I am currently on medicine for a sinus infection. could a sinus infection be the cause of the wheezing? also i have began to develop allergy's to foods but have not been tested for dust, pollen, etc.
Avatar n tn Hello, I am 31 years old, & I smoked for 17 years, and i quit cold turkey yesterday. I was told Friday I have chronic pneumonia & chronic bronchitis. Today I had a hard time, and so I put a patch on. I am sick to my stomach, I am having a very hard time taking a deep breath still, and I am shaky, and feel horrible. I am on strong anti-biotics for the pneumonia and steroids for the inflamation.
