Good morning I'm being treated for pneumonia just started antibiotics last nite feeling a lol worse off but my question is walking pneumonia contagious......it's funny but ct images showed fluid on right lung and I have side pain ouchee! But now more symptoms are appearing.
I was diagnosed with pneumonia in early Jan. Several courses of antibiotics later and X rays, the pneumonia has gone but left some marks on the lung; scarring according to the doctors. Despite being able to cycle and run ok, I am still not feeling right and still have catargh on my lungs which is fighting to stay put. The worst is just not feeling that my head is connected, almost like I continually have had a glass of wine! Anyone else felt like this after pneumonia?
Could be residual changes from the pneumonia -- many times the xray takes longer to completely resolve than the symptoms, even after a course of antibiotics. Sometimes, pneumonia develops in response to mild airway blockage from a mass or tumor, so if they saw something (even small or subtle), they probably just want a CT to make sure it's not something like that.
I was diagnosed with pneumonia about 3 weeks ago. I've been on a Z pack, Avelox, predniszolne, and Albuterol pump. After 3 visits to the ER, I am still coughing and wheezing and have shortness of breath. The last ER doctor gave me a nebulizer machine and Albuterol solution. I am also on Allegra. When will the coughing, wheezing and shortness of breath end? 3 chest xrays and a lung cat scan all came back clear after the antibiotics were finished.
Hello: since I had my baby 2-1/2 years ago, I have had pneumonia 5 times. I am always tired. I recently had a CAT scan and bronchiscopy to see if there was possibly something more wrong with me. Nothing unsual found. My right lung, middle lobe is where the pneumonia continues to reoccur. I have always been healthy. I used to workout 5-7 days/wk. prior to having Sam. During and after the pregnancy, I have not worked out at all. I am 5'6, 130 lbs. Please help.

But in November I developed a cold which turned out to be pneumonia well i was on the antibiotics for 14 days..In December I went to the Dr and again I had pneumonia in the other lung. Again I was placed on 2 antibiotic treatments..My Docotor didnt like that I developed it 2 different times and is having me see a pulmonologist. Well I am concerned and was wondering if this could be from being weakend after so long?
The doctor was unconcerned but after I returned complaining of the original symptoms I was given another course of antibiotics. In August I had another xray and the conclusion was clear lungs. I still have the original cough, which produces small amounts of clear mucous and more disconcerting to me is that I still feel a rattle in my left lung when I breathe deeply especially when lying down. Three doctor when listening to my chest have said it sounds clear.

I was diagnosed with pneumonia 6 weeks ago. I was on oral antibiotics for 2 days, then admitted with an IV drip for 3 days (levifloxacin, as I'm allergic to penicillin-based drugs) then given a 5 day course of oral clarithromyacin. I rested for 2 more weeks after finishing the antibiotics but was still coughing yellow mucus and feeling tired with moderate/mild activity.
If the doctor's diagnosis is pneumonia, this condition can be treated with antibiotics very well. The collapsed lung is usually treated and re-expanded also if the blockage of the airway has been removed. Discuss the management plan with his doctor to ease any worry. Take care and do keep us posted.
Have had three rounds of antibiotics for the pneumonia that showed up in x-rays, (including a z-pack, ciprofloxacin, and two shots of antibiotics at the doctors office), with only marginal improvement. I can't work, or even lay down for that matter, since the coughing fits get so bad. I went back to the doctor after being on antibiotics for a week, still not feeling better. He acted like I was bothering him, and grudgingly gave me the z-pack "just in case".
The next day he was called and told to go to the hospital since he had pneumonia and severe anemia. Put him on IV antibiotics and steroids and inhaler for 6 days and sent him home. He was sent home on amoxicillan for 10 days and 9 days of steroids. He has not gotten any better. Went back to dr. and got another chest x-ray and blood work. Told pneumonia is better but there is a shadow in his lung and white blood count shows infection. Put on another 7 day of amoxicilan. Now what?
Would carinii pneumonia present itself with just a minor cough and congestion and no fever, no rash or other symptoms. In other words is this type of pneumonia something that is more severe? I have not had an exposure to someone with HIV, but I have allowed myself to receive oral sex on occasion from guys that I did not know their HIV status.
You have good reasons to be concerned about your sister and her multiple health problems. Pain associated with her pneumonia should have eased as her pneumonia resolved. Pain at this time is not normal. The recurrence of cough and pain along with the abnormal X-ray findings of “scarring” and “a hole” in her lung suggest otherwise; that is to say that hers is what we would call complicated pneumonia. You ask, if she needs to be admitted to a hospital.
In November, he was again admitted with similar symptoms, which did develop into pneumonia, although this time he was not intubated and his lung continued to function on its own. Less than 2 weeks ago (Feb. 22), he was again admitted for with the same initial symptoms (pericarditis) which developed with greater complications: pericarditis with fluid build-up around the heart, aspiration pneumonia, septic shock, and kidney failure.
CT scan also showed some complications like early cavitation, early fibrobronchectatic changes with multiple small rounded nodules with irregular margin throughout right upper lobe. Doctors started with antibiotics injections with an assumption of pneumonia.TBferon got detected in the meanwhile and they started diagnosing for TB. Including bronchoscopy BAL sample all the samples like sputum, blood tested for various AFB, c/s and growth tests but none came positive.
A number of what are called collagen-vascular diseases can also present with a variety of symptoms and pneumonia. You are not shadow-boxing, if you are truly sweating, flushing and febrile. You need a comprehensive evaluation of your problem.
Well I supposedly got over pneumonia. I went to the doctor today and he said my lungs sound good. I've been sick for 2 weeks at least. I'm still coughing up stuff, however he said I'd be coughing for another 6 weeks. But I haven't been able to sleep lately (I wont fall asleep unitl 6 hours after I lay down) and I'm itchy all over. I dont know if they're related to pneumonia or not. My appetite is also not totally normal. Is this maybe b/c of the antibiotic I was on?
A week ago, I got off a course of antibiotics (Augment) that I took for 14 days. It bothered me the entire time I took it. I gradually had bloating, distention of the stomach and tingling, numbness and a 'cold' sensation started later on. This hasn't gone away and has only improved about 30% since taking probiotics and eating a lot of fermented foods and coconut yogurt with live cultures. The Kevita probiotic drinks help the most.
It can't hurt to go back in and ask for a chest x-ray. If it is pneumonia then they can start you on antibiotics and you'll feel much better in a few days. If you let it run it's course it can get worse or take forever to heal. I'd go back and get that chest x-ray. Good luck! I hope you feel better soon!
I was diagnosed with walking pneumonia about 2 months ago, but the symptoms showed up a month or two prior to seeing a doctor. I went on a month of antibiotics, but never really improved. I have a cough, but the largest struggle has been my headaches. I have taken good care of myself avoiding alcohol and getting plenty of rest, but the problems persist. I currently have a headache that is tender to touch right at the top of my head.
We had an xray done and they saw cloudy-ness all throughout his lungs, which led them to believe it was a bacterial pneumonia and not aspiration pneumonia. He is on two different antibiotics, zenequin and clavamox and has been for the last week and a half. We've also been inducing a cough 3-4 times a day to assist him in clearing his lungs. We are seeing slight improvement in his cough, which isn't as frequent and not as productive, but he is still very fatigued.
My question however is, if I stop taking the Symbicort and the Avamys will the thrush go away, or should I go see my doctor to get anti-fungal stuff (i.e. Nystatin)? I am still on antibiotics for the pneumonia (I have 7 more days to go), and I know that antibiotics can also cause thrush. I'm reasonably sure that it is the Symbicort though, simply because any inhaled steroid I take ends up giving me strep or thrush.
My partner became ill with sweats and high fever 3 weeks ago, started on oral antibiotics with no effect. returned to doc one week later and started different antibiotics and sent for CXR which showed consolidation of rt lung. was then admitted and treated with Oxygen and IV antibiotics, discharged with a 10 day course of oral antibiotics one week ago and although he has improved a lot he is still taking rapid shallow breaths and is very easily tired, says he still has tightness in his chest.
for example if it were fungal and they used the antibiotics it might tamper down the symptoms but allow the fungal count to increase and then reoccur. I would consider a pulmonologist(if you havent allready gone)to see if they can figure out more concrete answers.I have had WP twice over the last yr also and made sure I got rid of my toothbrush-washed all bedding in bleach water-bought a new pillow w/plastic cover.
I have been on antibiotics for pneumonia for 5 days and while most my symptoms are gone my right lung still feels heavy. But what is bothering me the most is the onset of night sweats and muscle jerks. Right before I am able to fall asleep I usually have some muscle jerks but for the last two days I haven't been able to sleep because my diaphragm has jerked as soon as I drift off. It will even continue jerking till I wake up according to my husband.
The pulmonologist now thinks that it is pneumonia and sent him home with antibiotics. He has no obvious symptoms of a cold. He will follow up with a CT in 3 wks. My dad WAS a big smoker >17 years ago. We are relieved that he is calling this pneumonia; does this diagnosis seem reasonable to you? Thanks.
