When I had pneumonia with my daughter, I was on antibiotics to clear it up and everything was fine. I was just put on amoxicillin for a dental infection. Both amoxicillin and the medication in your z-pack (I'm assuming that is what you are taking?) are both Pregnancy Category B and considered safe during pregnancy. I even specifically asked my Pharmacist and she assured me it is safe.

I was trying to tough it out but my upper respiratory infection has moved down into my chest and with my asthma, the doctor is really worried about it turning into pneumonia and just put me on the "Z-Pack" (Azithromycin)antibiotics. I'm in my 12th week right now, and really worried about taking them. But the doctor says if my breathing goes bad or I get pneumonia that's much worse for the baby...so I just took my first dose tonight.

I take a class b medicine that i took thru my first pregnancy and now this pregnancy. Everything is fine. I did take the z pack with my first as well. I got pneumonia when i was 18weeks pregnant.

I am so scared of losing this baby I think it actually made me sick, I go to dr tomorrow for first ultrasound and pneumonia I don't think I should be taking any antibiotics I don't want too but, I can't breathe! I have swallowing disorders that put me at risk for aspiration pneumonia. Are there any tests that can be done to differentiate the type of pneumonia? I have had several xrays done on my chest and was put on antibiotics.

Buddy was diagnosed with pneumonia and has gone through a course of doggy antibiotics and 3 courses of human antibiotics. The right lung is full of fluid. He would get better, then be energetic and get worse. It was suggested that he may not have pneumonia but CHF. Is there anything to do to help him. The vet doesn't seem to have any suggestions. I was feeling pretty bad coughing wheezing, bad chest pain. My friend and I diagnosed it as brochitis or pneumonia so I took 7 Levaquin, one a day for 7 days (had it in the house). Give the antibiotics a chance to work. Don't think the worst, although as moms we all do bcuz it's our baby. I would call Ur regular pediatrician too & get her in to see her reg dr. My pediatrician says she's always changing what the hospitals ER does, wether it's a different prescription etc. I hope Ur little one is better soon.

But there are also viral, fungal, or less commonly parasitic causes of pneumonia. None of which is affected at all by antibiotics, each has it's own unique treatment.

Once our pediatrician examined him she said the hives were from walking pneumonia. He is on the third day of antibiotics but hives are still appearing on his face. I was on oral antibiotics for 2 days, then admitted with an IV drip for 3 days (levifloxacin, as I'm allergic to penicillin-based drugs) then given a 5 day course of oral clarithromyacin.
