pneumonia

Avatar m tn A month long chest infection has developed into Pneumonia. After earlier courses of Amoxicillin, then Zithromax, upon determining Pneumonia I have been prescribed Levaquin, a much stronger antibiotic; But the Levaquin costs $ 264, which I can not afford. Is there a comparable antibiotic I can take that is more reasonably priced?
Avatar f tn I am just guessing, but it seems like if you were diagnosed early and take your antibiotics or whatever the doctor has said to do, you won't have long-term negative results from a bout of pneumonia. I've had a lot of friends who have had it at one time or another, and the only risk is if they don't get treated.
5915949 tn?1396188227 They say its a class B which means there arent any studies whether its safe or not. 16wks and have a sinus infection and I'm wondering has anyone taken a Z-pack for antibiotics and had any complications?
1472764 tn?1287588186 When I had pneumonia with my daughter, I was on antibiotics to clear it up and everything was fine. I was just put on amoxicillin for a dental infection. Both amoxicillin and the medication in your z-pack (I'm assuming that is what you are taking?) are both Pregnancy Category B and considered safe during pregnancy. I even specifically asked my Pharmacist and she assured me it is safe.
1901977 tn?1333991726 I was trying to tough it out but my upper respiratory infection has moved down into my chest and with my asthma, the doctor is really worried about it turning into pneumonia and just put me on the "Z-Pack" (Azithromycin)antibiotics. I'm in my 12th week right now, and really worried about taking them. But the doctor says if my breathing goes bad or I get pneumonia that's much worse for the baby...so I just took my first dose tonight.
1618318 tn?1318196283 I have swallowing disorders that put me at risk for aspiration pneumonia. Are there any tests that can be done to differentiate the type of pneumonia? I have had several xrays done on my chest and was put on antibiotics.
Avatar n tn Buddy was diagnosed with pneumonia and has gone through a course of doggy antibiotics and 3 courses of human antibiotics. The right lung is full of fluid. He would get better, then be energetic and get worse. It was suggested that he may not have pneumonia but CHF. Is there anything to do to help him. The vet doesn't seem to have any suggestions. Would a diuretic help? He's starting to not eat now.
Avatar f tn Go get yourself some medicine I had bronchitis 8 weeks ago and after 3 antibiotics, 1 breathing treatment, & 2 inhalers we thought I was fine but I have been really sick for a week now and went to the ER today because I was dehydrated and thought my kids had given me the flu, turns out I have pneumonia.
Avatar m tn this persisted several months until i developed an acute infection and was diagnosed with pneumonia and given 2 weeks of clarithromycin, when i visited the hospital i was told that my blood test indicated the presence of a bacterial infection. the pneumonia symptoms did not completely resolve so i was given another 2 weeks of clarithromycin which seemed to resolve the coughing to a manageable level. after this point the coughing gradually declined until it stopped completely.
Avatar n tn But since puemonia is a very serious condition, I would only do this in consultation with your physician and a naturopath. No matter what you do, pneumonia takes a long time to heal, and much rest is needed. Hope by now it's already better.
Avatar n tn I am so scared of losing this baby I think it actually made me sick, I go to dr tomorrow for first ultrasound and pneumonia I don't think I should be taking any antibiotics I don't want too but, I can't breathe! If I take the meds am I going to lose or harm my baby? This was a surprise pregnancy, I pray and thank God every day for this blessing! It's kinda making me neurotic! What would be the best plan?
Avatar n tn I was feeling pretty bad coughing wheezing, bad chest pain. My friend and I diagnosed it as brochitis or pneumonia so I took 7 Levaquin, one a day for 7 days (had it in the house). Still felt bad after a week or so and went to my doctor who prescribed same Levaquin 500 mg for 7 days. My doctor ordered chest xrays and blood work. Blood work was just a little off she said not sure what was high or low as this was told to me over the phone.
Avatar f tn Good morning I'm being treated for pneumonia just started antibiotics last nite feeling a lol worse off but my question is walking pneumonia contagious......it's funny but ct images showed fluid on right lung and I have side pain ouchee! But now more symptoms are appearing.
Avatar m tn You son was just diagnosed with pneumonia but consistently complains that his feet hurt. He's on antibiotics and all and drinking well. I'm just worried about him saying his feet always hurt. He's a 3 year old boy. Any suggestions or help?
Avatar n tn iam just geting over pneumonia and i have started getting joint pain.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with pneumonia 4 days ago when I went in for pain in my heart area and shortness in breath.. I'm on antibiotics, still can't cough anything out but today I started feeling pain in my lower back area where kidneys are. I urinate every 10, 15 minutes and the color in clear.. My mouth is dry all the time which I think is a side effect from the antibiotics. Could have the pneumonia caused issues in my kidneys or bladder???
242516 tn?1368223905 m sure you have a friend who has the sniffles, fever, chills, aches and pains of a viral upper respiratory infection. This is different from a bacterial infection such as sinusitis, bronchitis, or pneumonia. A viral infection doesn't improve with antibiotics as these infections do. A virus hijacks your own body's healthy cells and uses it to reproduce and spread. A bacteria is its own living cell and multiplies and spreads on its own and is easier to destroy in that process.
Avatar f tn I’ve been diagnosed with lobar pneumonia and was put on antibiotics. It’s been two days (5 doses of antibiotics, so far) and nothing has changed! There is still no congestion, no coughing (I’ve even had 5 doses of Musinex)...just fatigue and shortness of breath. The pain is on and off....I feel crazy!!! HELP?!? (No, I’ve not been sick...my Mom was treated for the flu, but I only had contact with her after she had begun her medication...
Avatar m tn Don't seem to have any reactions to the antibiotics other than noticing stool. Breathing seems to be fine as long as I haven't gone through a burping episode. Prior to getting sick a couple of weeks ago, I had been jogging quite regularly almost everyday for maybe the past 4 weeks and my lungs seemed to be fine, it was only when I got really sick last week before my diagnoses of H. Pylori.
4498734 tn?1355501804 I was on antibiotics for an impacted tooth and was then put on antibiotics for pneumonia and told to stop taking the antibiotics for my tooth. Now the pneumonia seems to be clearing up but the infection in my mouth seems to be coming back. What could I do?
Avatar f tn I had a cyst on my back that got infected when I got pneumonia. I was on (and still am) several antibiotics and even had the cyst removed. The doctor had the cyst sent out for a culture and found out it is still infected which means more antibiotics. Is there some other way to get rid of the infection? Isn't it dangerous to have it go on this long. I have been fighting the pneumonia pretty much all summer. Although I feel better, I am still trying to get rid of the infection.
Avatar n tn A person who lies in bed for a long period can devolop pneumonia. That's why they don't keep people lying down long in the hospital. You have got to get up and move around to prevent it. If you do have pneumonia in your lungs you will need pretty powerful antibiotics so don't hesitate to see a doctor.
Avatar m tn I understand that most of the people who are hospitalised mainly die as a result of pneumonia. Does this mean that anybody who has had a pneumonia vaccination will be protected from this aspect of the infection and therefore have a greater chance of survival?
5601163 tn?1370701672 I recently underwent a two week course of Levaquin for pneumonia. On the follow-up visit with my doctor, a chest x-ray showed "right basilar opacity," which caused my doctor to order a CT scan. What does this mean?
Avatar n tn Most pneumonia is infectious, and is most times caused by strep bacteria, so they throw antibiotics at it, and see how the patient responds, there are more aggressive atypical bacterial pneumonia that may require more aggressive treatment, also a persons age, and strength of their immune system is a major factor as well. But there are also viral, fungal, or less commonly parasitic causes of pneumonia. None of which is affected at all by antibiotics, each has it's own unique treatment.
Avatar n tn I've had pneumonia for almost 3 months. I had two rounds of antibiotics and it shrunk to the point where it didn't show up in an x-ray, so we thought it was gone. But after 3 weeks the symptoms came back so severely that I had to go to the emergency room because the pain in my ribs and chest was keeping me from breathing. The x-ray was still 'clear' but a follow-up CT-scan showed it was still there, though a bit smaller than a previous CT scan.
