The type of anti biotic depends on the type of pneumonia she has , as she has only taken the meds for a few days I would continue as prescribed but if indeed she seems worse and her temperature climbs it may be aswell to have her checked out again ..

I had the flu (a long with my husband and children) we were all really sick for about 5 days. Everyone got over it except for me. I don't feel like it is the flu now though. I have a horrible cough. So 5 days ago I went to the Urgent Care and Dr said probably pneumonia. She gave me antibiotics, prednisone, and albuterol. It has been 5 days. The fevers are just higher. They dont even get better with ibuprofen. I can't function. I have small kids. I feel to sick to drive to the doctor.

Having diarrhea after antibiotics is not rare, but also not normal. I recommend you to have stool test for C-diff and for occult blood. Having problems with breathing is probably from the acid coming up into your throat and then down into lungs. these are your antibiotics? why do you think your kitties need antibiotics? what strength are they and how much do the kitties weigh? you do know that using an antibiotic on cats can be dangerous...you have to be very sure there is an actual infection, than the culture needs to show what antib will work for that strain.

Buddy was diagnosed with pneumonia and has gone through a course of doggy antibiotics and 3 courses of human antibiotics. The right lung is full of fluid. He would get better, then be energetic and get worse. It was suggested that he may not have pneumonia but CHF. Is there anything to do to help him. The vet doesn't seem to have any suggestions. Very interesting. The two systems ARE linked. WHY you are having recurrent pneumonia is not apparent, but you don't say what kind of MD has you on all the antibiotics...maybe a Pulmonary specialist? You don't say, either, if you have had Bronchoscopy for diagnosis. Also...just a thought, is is possible that something in you home or workplace is the cause of the recurrent infections?? He has a fever that comes and goes (low grade most generally) and appears when he stops taking either the steroids or antibiotics. He did test positive for pneumonia in March, and the second set of x-rays (after 10 days of treatment ) showed that the pneumonia was still present but improving. Besides a low grade fever he tends to get a rash that covers his entire stomach, back, neck and parts of his arms and legs.

A couple more details..she's had extensive immune system testing. All normal. Allergy tests all negative. Sweat chloride test normal. She's had 3 hospitalizations, first 2 for rsv/pneumonia, the 3rd for metapneumovirus and pneumonia. We've been doing pulmicort and now qvar for the past two years. Her CT scan was with contrast. Bronchoscopy showed the middle lobe was inflamed and the lavage fluid was tinted pink, indicating inflamation.
