Anyway I saw the consultant at exactly 3 weeks after the pneumonia diagnosis and 3 different antibiotics (clarithromycin, co-amoxyclav and another one beginning with T - can't remember!) anyway I had an X-ray and the consultant has said there is an abnormality on my lung and I have a CT scan booked tomorrow and follow up with the consultant on Tuesday. So now I am really anxious and getting worried that I have lung cancer or something.
My husband had emergency bypass surgery four days ago and his heart is now OK but they say he's developed pneumonia. I'm EXTREMELY scared about this! What should he/we do? We are not in the States now so it's important I get good guidance to deal with this in a developing country. Any PARTICULAR drug he should take for this? What can I do for him? Help!
I might have worded that funny about "asthma can lead to pneumonia but not the other way around". Pneumonia can also antagonize asthma if the person already has asthma,but pneumonia doesn't actually cause asthma.
You could have a secondary bacterial infection that you can get after viral pneumonia that is called walking pneumonia and is caused by either bacteria called Mycoplasma or Chlamydia pneumoniae. "Walking" pneumonia gives you a low grade fever, tiredness, dry hacking cough, pain in the ribs area. They can check for these by testing and culture. It is important for you to get your lungs listened to to make sure you are ok.
Buddy was diagnosed with pneumonia and has gone through a course of doggy antibiotics and 3 courses of human antibiotics. The right lung is full of fluid. He would get better, then be energetic and get worse. It was suggested that he may not have pneumonia but CHF. Is there anything to do to help him. The vet doesn't seem to have any suggestions. I’ve been diagnosed with lobar pneumonia and was put on antibiotics. It’s been two days (5 doses of antibiotics, so far) and nothing has changed! Once our pediatrician examined him she said the hives were from walking pneumonia. He is on the third day of antibiotics but hives are still appearing on his face. They go away within the hour without any treatment. Has anyone heard of this? Shouldn't the antibiotics be helping if the hives are because of the pneumonia or are the hives from something else?
Hello, my daughter, age 3, had a bronchoscopy and CT scan after repeated bouts of pneumonia in the same spot, right middle lobe. This all started after a severe RSV/pneumonia hospitalization as an infant.
Her CT scan was read as "mild bronchiectasis" in the right middle lobe, same spot as her atelectasis. We know for sure that her last bout of pneumonia in march never fully cleared, b/c we did X-rays every 3 months. So she's had this atelectasis spot for quite awhile now.
