Plavix ttp symptoms

Common Questions and Answers about Plavix ttp symptoms

plavix

Avatar f tn TTP can happen with PLAVIX, sometimes after a short time (less than 2 weeks). TTP is a blood clotting problem where blood clots form in blood vessels; and can happen anywhere in the body. TTP needs to be treated in a hospital right away, because it may cause death.
Avatar n tn Sounds to me like you may have passed a gallstone. plavix can cause a hemolytic-uremic syndrome and TTP will low platelets, etc. The plavix may have given you a systemic reaction. i think watchful waiting for now is OK with careful monitoring of your liver tests.
Avatar n tn I've had chronic ttp (3 episodes, 1988,92,97) and a splenectomy. I did the treatment w/Ribavarin and IntronA for 48 weeks about 10 yrs ago...then tried the Peg/Riba combo twice for a couple of months but had to stop because of side effects and depression. It did not affect my TTP at all...didn't have a reoccurence of the TTP so I wouldn't worry about it. How many times have you had the TTP? It's a nasty disorder...
Avatar f tn I'm unsure what topic this goes in so I posted here as part of woman's health. For appox a month I have been having some left breast issues (swellon red nipples, milky discharge, pain on the upper left breast, nipple pain) and 3 days ago I woke up to pain from my left armpit to breast. I made an appt with my doctor and seen her yesterday. She said she didn't feel anything but wanted me to go get a mammogram done and bilateral u.s done which I have on the 29th.
Avatar n tn Small dose aspirin is fine to take with Plavix. Plavix is good so that you do not develop blood clots especially if you have coated stents. Some doctors recommend 6 months to a year on Plavix and some recommend for life. Plavix will help to avoid having heart attacks and strokes. The blood in your mouth is most likely because of the Plavix along with the bruising. It is the side effects. The circulation is from your heart medication and heart medication makes you tired.
Avatar m tn About 4 years ago during a routine Echo stress we discovered I had blockage in the LAD and diagonal. I had drug-eluting stents put in and I have been on 75MG Plavix, 50MG Toprol XL, 81mg aspirin, and 80mg simvastatin ever since. I never had any symptoms and I still have none. Just wondering about a professional opinion about being on these medications for life as well as the efficacy of generic drugs. I obviously am also concerned about possible restenosis in the stents.
Avatar m tn I recently had bypass surgery that was extremely successful, and have been taken off Plavix as I have no angina symptoms at all. Plavix is prescribed for a variety of reasons. Best wishes, keep us informed.
255163 tn?1376869746 Has anyone on this board ever go off of plavix for surgery after having a DE stent. I am 2 yrs post stent in the LAD. I have gallstones and need to have my gallbladder removed. My Cardio wants me on the plavix indefintely, so will not give me the ok to stop the plavix for 10 days and the Surgeon will not do the procedure with me on the plavix. I'm in a no win situation. My symptoms are not that severe yet, Does anyone have any suggestions or advice.
Avatar f tn I had an MI in '05, and had a RCA stent placed. I was on plavix apox. 4 yrs because of family hx and my paranoia of another MI. I recently have been experiencing tingling and numbness in my hands upon awaking and have noticed small spider veins appearing on my thighs. I am a nurse on a MedSurg unit. I am concerned that my stent is becoming occulded. My doctor took me off plavix Jan'10 and kept me on 325 Aspirin.
Avatar n tn What he had was called TTP (thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura). It is a blood clotting disorder which if not treated can lead to death. I don't want to scare you, maybe that is not what you have, but if you do you need to go see your doctor asap! If the pain is really bad you might be in the last stages and need to go the ER now. Look this up on the internet, type in TTP and read about it and look at the pictures. PLEASE keep in touch, I am concerned.
Avatar f tn my mother was asked to stop taking plavix by her cardiologist and since then has had severe headaches and increased blood pressure. She is already taking 2 blood pressure medications to control blood pressure, micardis and nifedipine xl. Do you think her increased bp is due to her coming off of plavix? She does have a pace maker and stints.
Avatar n tn I HAD CAROTID ARTERY SURGERY OVER A YEAR AGO AND HAD A MILD STROKE I AM ON PLAVIX AND WOULD LIKE TO STOP TAKING IT. SURGEON SAID IN MAY I CAN BUT I WANT TO NOW AS IT IS CAUSING ALL SIDE AFFECTS AND I FEEL TERRIBLE FROM THE MEDICINE.
Avatar f tn I am not sure if the therapy would or wouldn't work without aspirin. I have never heard this before. I know it has been suggested I take Plavix and aspirin. I don't take the Plavix for personal reasons, and I always forget my aspirin. I did some goggling and found this bit in an article. It suggests that Plavix is an alternative. Not sure if that is correct or not.
Avatar n tn my father just got through another stroke recently. he has been on Plavix for two years since the first one in 2008. my question is Plavix would reduce the risk of stroke but could not 100% prevent it, correct? I am not sure what is the cause yet this time. he is still in the process of going through all various types of tests and so far the doctor seems very comfortable with the results available; also he has totally recovered without any sign of stroke symptoms.
Avatar n tn First stent and the second time, I developed allergic reaction to Plavix, second time with Ticlid, had 2 small seisures, tried Plavix again with Benadryl, this time developed intercranial bleeding. Angina symptoms have reoccured, but cardiologists will not tell me what I can do if I cannot take blood thinners (I have allergic reactions or bad reactions to almost all meds). I'm just told, "We'll cross that bridge when we get there.
Avatar f tn A male family member age 52 diagnosed with MS approximately 15 years ago. Over the last two years he has not been ambulatory, but has had an adequate quality of life until last November '08. He was admitted emergently and found to have TTP...Platelets were at 19....he eventually improved on Plasmaphoresis and discharged to a skilled nursing unit for continued therapy. He then returned home to the care of his wife with what was a Stage III decubitis ulcer....
Avatar f tn I do not have any pain or other symptoms. Negative for h pylori bacteria. Been taking carafate 4 x day and taking protonix. I had vertical sleeve surgery five years ago and have been taking vitamins and history of TIAs so was on plavix. I don’t drink or use NSAIDS so what could cause this?
Avatar f tn Has anyone obtained any info on weather Vytorin ( or plavix) has been shown to cause CLL, chronic lymphatic leukemia?
Avatar m tn fatique after stents by dadsgirl38, 2 minutes ago My dad had 3 stents put in in March of 09', he continues to be extremely tired and weak (flu like symptoms) he is taking plavix. He also states sometimes it feels like there is something crawling under his skin. Also pain or cramping in his legs. Is anyone had any or all of these symptoms? if so, can you tell me what is causing this or how to deal with it. We have talked to the doctor several times and he states that is normal.
Avatar f tn Hi. I'm just about two & a half weeks post cardiac ablation for focal atrial tachycardia. Has anyone been on Colperdogil (also known as Plavix). I'm allergic to aspirin so I'm on this drug instead, for 6 weeks. My question is...what side effects did you get? My BP is now 85/50 & I think the drug has caused it to drop so low. My BP dropped to 89/53 as soon as they gave me the drug in recovery.
Avatar n tn I am a 49 yr old female, who smokes, no Hypertension or diabetes, I have had all symptoms of Stroke/TIA, I had radiating pain down L arm, numbing/tingling up L side of face, profuse sweating, dizziness, I also had slight pain across jaw, no weakness though, this has happened more than one time, all of my test come out negative, is that normal for a TIA that nothing shows? I am afraid that when or if I have a stroke, that will be it since everything comes up negative.
