Avatar f tn //www.drugs.com/sfx/plavix-side-effects.html Natural alternative: Nattokinase is a potent fibrinolytic (anti-clotting) enzyme extracted and highly purified from a traditional Japanese food called Natto. 1210142 tn?1266077031 Hello, My name is Anatoly Petrov and I have I had a heart attack on 09/21/09. After my bare metal stents were clogged and I almost got another heart attack, a DES was placed inside those two. Since then I have been having chest pains. I am currently on Plavix, Aspirin, Simvastatin, Lisinopril and Carvedilol/Coreg/. Stopped Lisinopril for a little bit and felt much better- unfortunately my blood pressure went a little up.
Avatar f tn As of the present, ongoing post-marketing surveillance or phase IV trials, there has been no direct evidence of these drugs causing such conditions especially CLL. But, this does not mean that we can totally rule out the association. These side effects would usually take several years or even decades to come out if ever there is really an association, and for these drugs, it may seem too early to tell if these side effects will come out.
Avatar m tn 59 years Male Weight: 71.6 Kgs Hight: 169 inches. As per my Cardiology, i should ignore these pain.. Some or how, i am not getting convinced!!. Should i be concerned?? Can this be because of side effect of medicines??
1210142 tn?1266077031 I am quite familiar with all the side effects and everything you mentioned- have done some research too. Tried to stop Plavix and almost got another heart attack- I have 3 stents and the third one is in a "sandwich"- so to make this short, I may have to be on Plavix indefinite. The paradox is that after I started Pantoprazole, my chest pains disapeared 99%.
Avatar f tn Plavix All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome when using Plavix: Easy bruising; minor bleeding.
Avatar n tn Severe joint and back pain usually is not a side effect of Plavix. Coumadin is more powerful than Plavix. The Plavix is important to take especially if you have coated stents. You may want to be checked for arthritis that may be flaring up. Coumadin is not to be used in persons with high cholesterol.
Avatar f tn Thought I was doing so well after my stent placement. No more chest pains, no more "pinching" feelings or fatigue until I finally checked my leg to see what's been causing me pain for the past 3 days - felt like a cramped calf muscle (charley horse) - and there is a bruise next to my right calf! Have an appt. tomorrow. No redness or swelling. Is this a blood clot or did I injure myself without knowing?
Avatar m tn ” Instead of telling you about Nattokinase (a natural and healthy blood clot dissolver derived from a Japanese food, natto) your doctor probably told you about Plavix. Plavix is one of the top-selling drugs in the world. It earns more than a billion dollars a year for Bristol-Myers. Your doctor regularly sees ads by this pharmaceutical giant and is visited by sales reps who tout the supposed benefits of Plavix. Plavix is also advertised on television.
Avatar n tn I recently got off plavix, (2 1/2) weeks ago and yesterday I experienced severe chest pain, so severe I screamed several times. The pain started on the right side of my chest when I had bent over and then I had to sit down because the pain continued. The pain then shifted over to the left side and all throughout my chest. I called my cardiologist and he told me to go to the hospital, which I did. They evaluated me over night and only did some blood tests.
1210142 tn?1266077031 As for the losartan and carvedilol, dizziness and fatigue are two common side effects of the medications. These side effects are often related to either low blood pressures or low heart rate but can often be relieved through adjustments in the dose and timing of the medications. I would check and keep note of your blood pressure and heart rate frequently (and not if you are having any of the symptoms) using a home blood pressure monitoring kit that you can get at your local pharmacy.
Avatar f tn I am wondering if long term protonix use has been linked to joint and muscle pain as well as hearing loss. I have been taking proton pump inhibitors for 18 years and have just begun hearing about bone loss and other issues. I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia after finally seeing a doctor about the pain that I have endured for over 10 years.
482754 tn?1341791494 I no longer have to take clopidogrel and effient wasn't around for me to use. However, I do remember reading some articles on this medication. Although it has been approved for patient use, it does have one concern. If you are on this drug and have surgery such as a bypass, it tends to cause severe bleeding, which can be fatal. Clopidrogrel (plavix) has no such problem attached to it. On the plus side, it reduces other risks dramatically and outperforms clopidogrel hands down.
Avatar n tn If you had high cholesterol, heart disease you will have to stay on cholesterol meds for the rest of your life just like with the BP meds. Once you stop the cholesterol meds your cholesterol will go back where it was or even higher.
Avatar n tn There is much contraversy over this and also as plavix is taken in conjunction with aspirin. Many doctors are now saying long term use of aspirin can cause bleeding in the brain, while others say that the clotting ability of blood is still sufficient to prevent this. More research is currently being undertaken to gather data to see which side of the argument has the strongest stance.
Avatar m tn actually, ive just noticed you say he's on plavix, have a read here of the side effects, see anything familiar??? http://www.medicinenet.com/clopidogrel-oral/article.htm I believe there is an alternative to plavix now which his Doctor will be aware of.
63984 tn?1385437939 I've had multiple stents placed in both my LAD and RCA, and have had three heart attacks, and have fought agressive Cardiac Artery Disease. It appears I'm winning that battle, I've lost a great deal of weight (my BMI is now 24.5) and my cholesterol level is perfect according to my doctor, and I'm no longer injecting or taking meds for diabetes. I exercise daily.

Avatar f tn My dad, for example, it taking only one fourth of the low dose of Lipitor and it is working great at bringing his LDL down to 79. Muscle pain is the side effect of statins, but in a smaller lower dose you may not have the pain and it still may work for you. You may also want to take a look at your diet. Red meat, for example, raises LDL levels. I lowered my LDL from approximately 130 to 79 by eliminating red meat for one year (it has now been 13 years since I had beef).
