Plavix naproxen interaction

Common Questions and Answers about Plavix naproxen interaction

plavix

Avatar n tn I've followed this research, and from what I've learned the drug interaction of Plavix and PPI's (proton pump inhibitors) is not not that strong. I doubted the report from the start as I took Plavix and PPI's and my blood was as thin as tea, I bruised very, very easily, and the blood tests to determine my clotting factor wasn't changed by taking the two drugs.
1210142 tn?1266077031 Thinking of maybe changing to Pantoprazole or just stopping PPI altogether. From my research, The PPI/Plavix interaction is no big deal. It looks like Plavix for a year after stent placement is a good idea.
Avatar n tn I am taking 75 mg of plavix and cannot find anything about the vitamin K interaction. I need additional calcium, and the brand I am looking at taking would give me 40mcg of vitamin K. Is this safe or a problem? Where can I find how much vitamin K is in a serving of broccoli or spinich?
Avatar n tn t take plavix in the morning and in the evening take lopressor 50mg and lipitor 80mg. I had been at least 4 hours since i took these two medication lopressor and lipitor. Is it ok to take zantac 150mg for heart burn .
Avatar f tn I’ve been on naproxen for almost 2 years 2x a day due to back pain and swelling. I have recently been put on Zoloft and was informed that taking both at the same time could cause stomach bleeding, but my doctor said she would put me on the Zoloft anyway. Is this safe? I normally do not take the naproxen every day but there are times I do take it daily for a week or two when my back is especially inflamed. I would like to continue taking both medications if possible.
Avatar n tn my daughter is 37. she was put on plavix 75mg. will this cause her sugars to run low at times?she does take insulin.
Avatar m tn As far as I'm aware, Plavix doesn't interact with natural vitamin K in foods. It's a different story with supplements though. Green foods are excellent for artery health, this has been proved virtually hundreds of times. The body is built to chemically break down foods and extract nutrients, rather than be stockpiled through pills. I've seen many people for example on potassium pills and getting very nauseous.
Avatar m tn I have been taking Plavix 75 MG daily. A recent plavix test showed it was not helping. Now my PA has me on 150 MG Plavix. I really bleed when scratched now. Should I take the Plavix test again to see if the increased dossage is working? I am also taking 325 mg asprin.
690060 tn?1247841741 Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has new data showing that omeprazole (Prilosec/Prilosec OTC)—a medicine used to reduce stomach acid—reduces the anti-blood clotting effect of clopidogrel (Plavix) by almost half when these two medicines are taken by the same patient." "...Patients using clopidogrel should consult with their healthcare provider if they are currently taking or considering taking omeprazole, including Prilosec OTC" but then, there's also this: http://www.
Avatar f tn I may be mistaken but I believe it is the interaction of plavix and aspirin that is the thetherapuetic underpinnings for the dual medication to help prevent clots with DES. Each medication has different mechanisms for treatment of blood clots and alone it has been shown are not as effective as together. Following your logic to separate to avoid the interaction of the drugs is somehow beneficial! would be like taking either aspirin or plavix as the sole treatment?
Avatar n tn My husband is on so many medications, that i am truly worried about his health and the interaction of all these drugs. I will list them all and can you please tell me if they are safe to take with one another? My husband is only 38, he had a stroke last year he had a stent put in, now he is on plavix, atenolol, hydrochlorothiazide 25mg, last week his doc added niacin 500 mg, simvastatin 20, flexeril and tramadol, also his one aspirin each day, these are just so many meds, are they safe?
Avatar m tn FDA is alerting the public to new safety information concerning an interaction between clopidogrel (Plavix), an anti-clotting medication, and omeprazole (Prilosec/Prilosec OTC), a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to reduce stomach acid. New data show that when clopidogrel and omeprazole are taken together, the effectiveness of clopidogrel is reduced.
Avatar f tn A drug coated stent was put in and he was put on plavix and aspirin. His heart has been heavily damaged. We were told that he needs bypass surgery and it has been scheduled for March 11. The doctor said he needs to stop plavix 7 days before. I'm worried because he just will have had the stent put in at just over 3 weeks.
Avatar m tn I when to Hospital for 6 months(once each month according to the appointment) and been given from pain killer, then Naproxen(currently intaking 275mg). When it strikes, my vision starts to blur, sensitive to light, left side of my body become numb, tears and sneeze involuntarily(start at the left part only and afterward the right side too sometimes), become sensitive to sound and physical interaction. Iwould rather conclude all my sensory will be sensitive and will worsen the pain.
Avatar f tn I had a "minor" stoke in May 2010. It is now October 2010 my dizziness, balance, double vision and strength have all improve greatly but I still have a dry cough that flares up almost daily. My doctor said it could be allergies and to give it time. I have done that but there has been no real improvement. The only medications I'm taking are a statin for cholesterol and Plavix. Any input on this cough would very much appreciated. Thanks!
Avatar f tn The medications you listed are appropriate for those with coronary artery disease, and should have little interaction with each other. Some of these medications should be uptitrated by his cardiologist to allow for the maximum dose as he tolerates them (namely, Ramipril and Metoprolol). His Plavix should continue for either several months up to 1-2 years depending on the type of stent he received at the time of his percutaneous coronary intervention (bare metal stent vs. drug-eluting).
Avatar m tn on day 10....today my doctor prescribed me Naproxen for my chronic back pain. I know I could search this, but would rather ask anyone with any experience with it's use. Good idea or not to use after 10 days clean. I dont even know if it's a "mild" narcotic or not, however I believe it's similar to Aleeve. Advice? thanks in advance.
