Common Questions and Answers about Plavix info

plavix

Avatar n tn I was told there is no real evidence it reacts with clopidogrel (plavix) and if it does, the effect is tiny. My INR didn't change on this medication for 2 years. It would seem Aspirin is the culprit for causing my stomach issues, so I've been taken off aspirin and put back onto plavix for life.
Avatar n tn Is there any info about long term plavix use. I have been taking Plavix along with Lisinopril and Toprol for the past two years after quad bypass but I don't feel very good about it anymore. Any info as in is this medicine weakening my internal organs.
Avatar m tn After getting two stents I was put on plavix. I also have gerds and would like to know what medecine I cantake for it tht doesnt conflict with plavix.
Avatar f tn Thank you for any info on plavix. I have an appt. with the neurologist, but lots of info. on the drugs is better.
293157 tn?1285873439 When you have a heart stent, they are usually drug eluting stents (vs metallic stents) and require the patient to go onto a maintenance dose of Plavix (or similar anti-coagulant) to keep blood from *sticking* to the stent and causing blockage. What is the protocol post-stent for these in the brain? I am defnitely NOT a fan of plavix - there are tons of side effects, especially bruising at the slightest touch and profuse bleeding if you cut or scrape yourself.
255163 tn?1376869746 Does anyone have any info on how long Plavix has been on the market and are there any long term probs with taking this med... I understand that Plavix was initially designed as a short term solution (6 mts post surgery), but then they found high mortality rates with people coming off the med so they decided to make it a med you take for life post angio or surgery. I'll try and find the article, but curious to find out if anyone knows more...
Avatar f tn Has anyone obtained any info on weather Vytorin ( or plavix) has been shown to cause CLL, chronic lymphatic leukemia?
Avatar f tn I agree with you...my dad was taken off plavix due to a bad bladder infections which caused some bleeding. He was taken off and withing a month and a half had a min-Tia-stroke-episode. He's back on it...Thank God he's doing better.
Avatar f tn It's normal to bleed for awhile after a hysterectomy but 12 days is a little longer than usual. I think the Plavix may have something to do with it. You need to see your Dr to find out what's going on. Let us know and take care.
Avatar f tn I have been given Plavix and aspirin from the onset and I am still on it. I have been experiencing muscle weakness and numbness/tingling to left side of body and I worry that it is another TIA but then consider that it could also be a side-effect of Lipitor. Is there a contraindication for taking all these drugs at the same time given my medical history? thanks for any info you can provide.
Avatar n tn It would be best for her to be on Plavix to avoid blood clots. Doctors put patients on Plavix for 6 months to a lifetime, so it is relatively safe.
Avatar f tn You should not be on Nexium while on Plavix. Print out the info from Google and show it to your GI Doc. Ask him to give you another med for your Gerd. It's mostly the PPI's that should not be taken with Plavix, I don't think all of them, I'm not really sure, but your GI Doc should advise you on what other kind to take.
Avatar m tn My cardio took me off the nexium and put me on pepcid. Google plavix and nexium to get more info on this subject or go to the FDA website.
Avatar n tn I asked about the lower dose and was told that the lower dose is ONLY for those in renal failure. Calling Pradaxa Mfg. they have no info as/no studies were done on folks that need to be on Plavix and need also blood thinners. Echo's since 2005 have shown a small gradient (30mg or less) moderate Mitral stenosis and diastolic dysfunction. I asked about these to the Cardio doctor and she was not concerned. There is also a slight murmer heard most of the time with the stethoscope.
Avatar n tn Since Plavix is a blood thinner, of course any surgeon would like for you to be off it and it out of your system completely before performing any kind of surgery, including something as minor as having your teeth cleaned. I don't know enough obout thrombosis to answer that part of your question, but I do understand a doctor/surgeon wanting you off the Plavix. Have you asked the neurosurgeon about your history of thrombosis and what happened when you stopped taking Plavix in the past?
482517 tn?1208551378 After a DES in my Circumflex, how long is it neccessary to take plavix? Will aspirin do the trick as well? Dr says we can stop it "...if I want to take my chances..." (not a good answer) What's the longest anyone's taken (taking) it w/no probs? Lastly, if I have restenosis, or a throw a clot in my Circumflex, would it be over or is that a "secondary" area?
Avatar f tn When I had all previous ocular migraines, it was in right eye only and CRAOs were in right eye only. Auras in left eye started happening about a year ago. Took Plavix for three months after first CRAO but stopped after second CRAO since it did not prevent. I do take an aspirin a day. Thanks again.
Avatar f tn i had a massive heart attack in june 2009 which i'm on medication for. my concern is i'm due to come off plavix in 1 month's time and heard a lot of bad thing's about coming off it.
Avatar m tn I have been taking Plavix 75 MG daily. A recent plavix test showed it was not helping. Now my PA has me on 150 MG Plavix. I really bleed when scratched now. Should I take the Plavix test again to see if the increased dossage is working? I am also taking 325 mg asprin.
Avatar m tn Did your doctor determine that you risk was so high that he wanted you on Plavix long term, these are the only circumstances that using Plavix long term would be.
255163 tn?1376869746 My heart Dr will not let me go off the plavix and my surgeon will not do the surgery while on plavix. What happens in a situation like this?. I am between a rock and a hard place. If neither Dr gives in what do I do? If I have an attack and end up in the ER wouldn't they have to do emergency sugery?. Does this mean that anyone on plavix can never have surgery unless it's an ermergency. What is your opinion on going off plavix temporarily for surgery. I would welcome anyones advice.
Avatar f tn I had an MI in '05, and had a RCA stent placed. I was on plavix apox. 4 yrs because of family hx and my paranoia of another MI. I recently have been experiencing tingling and numbness in my hands upon awaking and have noticed small spider veins appearing on my thighs. I am a nurse on a MedSurg unit. I am concerned that my stent is becoming occulded. My doctor took me off plavix Jan'10 and kept me on 325 Aspirin.
