Avatar f tn I don't have cancer in bladder or kidneys it's plavix and aspirin that's caused blood in urine
Avatar f tn The whole idea of plavix is to make platelets less active and a patient is now generally on this medication for a number of years. My first stent in 2007 required plavix for 1 year. My new stents in Sept 09 require plavix for 2-3 years minimum. They seem to now believe the longer you are on plavix the better, to prevent clogging of stents. They should be taking blood tests to make sure her clotting factor is as required. I assume she is on aspirin daily also?
161427 tn?1229911282 Every time Plavix is removed from my mother-in-law in order to perform a surgical-type procedure, her cognition improves dramatically (at least from my point of view from halfway across the country, "popping in" from time to time by telephone. History and Detail: My mother-in-law is 84 years old and living near her daughter in a nursing home in Boulder, Colorado, a very dry climate with thin air. About 20 years ago she had a moderately severe stroke that left her with a slight limp.
Avatar n tn s side-effects, we discovered that Plavix causes ulcers. He was bleeding from a huge ulcer in his stomach. They immediately DC'd his Coumadin and Plavix. Are there any alternatives to these two medicines that you are aware of? His cardiologist says he needs to stay on both of them for the rest of his life. Thank you.

1679243 tn?1307674938 This is more of a question about Warfarin, Plavix, blood thinning treatment ect... I was swimming yesterday with my kids and was rubbing my eyes a good bit. Afterwards my wife noticed my left eye was bleeding, not pouring blood but there is blood in the white part of my eye. Doesn't hurt or bother me it's just a nice size blood spot. I've been on Warfarin and Plavix and a daily baby aspirin for over 6 months to treat my heart disease.
Avatar m tn However, I looked up the study and indeed, Prylosec can have an effect with Plavix in some people. I have to say, Jim, that a full 325 mg aspirin plus 150 mg of Plavix is a gorilla dose. As a caveat... When taking my 75mg of Plavix and 81mg aspirin 1 1/2 years ago, I developed a bowel obstruction which led to emergency surgery. There were no options, the surgery had to take place, and quickly as I showed signs of kidney failure, a BNP test showed my heart was affected, etc.
255163 tn?1376869746 Following this I was on Plavix for 3 months. Another patient in the same cardiac rehab class was the same - Plavix for 3 months, and yet another is still taking Plavix and has been told to continue taking it. Maybe a difference of opinion with our ccrdiologists although maybe it depends on what type of stent you have .
Avatar f tn I had an MI in '05, and had a RCA stent placed. I was on plavix apox. 4 yrs because of family hx and my paranoia of another MI. I recently have been experiencing tingling and numbness in my hands upon awaking and have noticed small spider veins appearing on my thighs. I am a nurse on a MedSurg unit. I am concerned that my stent is becoming occulded. My doctor took me off plavix Jan'10 and kept me on 325 Aspirin.
Avatar n tn When I was in Mexico I had an encounter with a stripper in which she rubber her bare genitals on mine. I do not believe there was any penetration. Since then I seem to have a burning sensation that builds up until I urinate. It doesn't get worse as I urinate - if anything it temporarily feels better. I basically feel as I need to go to the bathroom all the time. Also I had flu like symptoms 5 days after the encounter. Nausea, diarrea. I was sick twice and had diarrea most of the day.
Avatar f tn I went to a doctor who did a brain MRI and found 2 white spots in the frontal lobe and two in the back ..in the white matter. Also went to the emergency room and my white blood count was sky high. My gait was neaver the same neither was my health..it all went south..

Avatar m tn ” Instead of telling you about Nattokinase (a natural and healthy blood clot dissolver derived from a Japanese food, natto) your doctor probably told you about Plavix. Plavix is one of the top-selling drugs in the world. It earns more than a billion dollars a year for Bristol-Myers. Your doctor regularly sees ads by this pharmaceutical giant and is visited by sales reps who tout the supposed benefits of Plavix. Plavix is also advertised on television.
Avatar m tn Did you have a heart attack in 07 or how did you happen to get on 2 plavix a day? Did your doctor determine that you risk was so high that he wanted you on Plavix long term, these are the only circumstances that using Plavix long term would be.
Avatar m tn I have had a total of 8 stents put in my heart, 6 in the RCA and 2 in the Obtuse marginal. My last stent was in 2014. I have elected to have some minor cosmetic surgery (liposuction) around the waist to help assist me in m weight loss. I know I have to come off Plavix 10 days prior and about 5 days after. Really wondering what damage could be done in 15 days of coming off Plavix if any? All my stents were drug eluding stents.
Avatar n tn My cardiologist would not let my dentist allow me to stop taking Plavix for even 5 days to alleviate my pain due to a cavity .The dentist is bent upon my discontinuing Plavix to enable filling of the cavity or do root canal to solve the problem.
255163 tn?1376869746 Has anyone on this board ever go off of plavix for surgery after having a DE stent. I am 2 yrs post stent in the LAD. I have gallstones and need to have my gallbladder removed. My Cardio wants me on the plavix indefintely, so will not give me the ok to stop the plavix for 10 days and the Surgeon will not do the procedure with me on the plavix. I'm in a no win situation. My symptoms are not that severe yet, Does anyone have any suggestions or advice.
Avatar m tn When you stopped your plavix and had a heart attack in 2 days, was it a clot in the stents or somewhere else?
Avatar m tn I have both bare-metal and drug eluding stents in place, four of each, and took Plavix for twelve years. I was asked to take the drug not only to keep clots from forming in my stents, but also to maximize blood flow in what are called collateral arteries, little ones that develop to help supply damaged areas of the heart. I recently had bypass surgery that was extremely successful, and have been taken off Plavix as I have no angina symptoms at all.
Avatar n tn I have read so often that you should not take Plavix and aspirin, but it seems to also be common to prescribe both plavix and aspirin in certain situations. I am worried and confused. Thanks.
Avatar m tn There are some cardiologists who argue it should be taken for life. Why? because some patients have developed clots in drug eluting stents when plavix has been stopped, even after a year. Some people seem more prone to this than others and the reasons have yet to be identified. I think it's just a choice of words problem here, collapse is being used as in failing to perform its intended task.
1210142 tn?1266077031 I have been taking Plavix for 2 years after MI back in 2009/100% oclusion of the left ventrical artery/.. The cardiologist thinks it is safe to stop it now. I have 2 bare metal stents and one DES inside those two in the same artery. Have read a lot about the so called rebound effect of stopping Plavix, so my quiestion is: do I stop it abruptly or over period of time? Do I add any supplements that thin the blood on the top of the 81 mg of Aspirin or just increase the dose of Aspirin?
Avatar n tn There is much contraversy over this and also as plavix is taken in conjunction with aspirin. Many doctors are now saying long term use of aspirin can cause bleeding in the brain, while others say that the clotting ability of blood is still sufficient to prevent this. More research is currently being undertaken to gather data to see which side of the argument has the strongest stance.
Avatar m tn I have a high deductibule ins policy I have found several web sights that offer generic Plavix or [clopidogrel] that is suginifantly cheeper than brand name Plavix Will the generic work as good as plavix? Or is it just a plasebo?
